They are time limited and everyone ends up using the same shit because they go for the highest tier rewards. It's worse then lootboxes imo just because of the time limit and urgency it creates. in fortnites case, you pay money for a loot grind that you have a certain amount of time to complete, if you do complete it however you get enough RM currency to buy the next one so you can essentially pay once and get multiple loot treadmills, not sure if it resets or you can just buy 1 and grind for all the future ones.
