no, there's references to nier but automata is its own story and drakengard is in a different universe, but drakengard 3 is pretty good though

There's no reason to play anything other than D1 and Nier.
Automata's gameplay lacks in comparison to other Platinum titles and the story isn't anything special.
Don't bother.
