PS3 and Switch emulators are improving a lot.

nah, my CPU is too shit, even PS2 games run slow
Yes, my PS3 is now literally useless.
Yeah, I've been playing the shit out of BotW and SMT: Nocturne lately, also have a bunch of other PS2 isos waiting.
One game I really wanted to experience on PC is Demon's Souls but it has some weird ass sound crackling issues which I wasn't able to fix yet. Either I'm 2dumb for RPCS3 or the software is just a bit undercooked
It got a lot better with the 0.6 versions.
anyone have a smash ultimate rom?
How does the Switch emulator even deal with the parts of games like Mario Odyssey where motion controls are NEEDED to clear an obstacle? Seriously. How do emulators deal with this? To this day I don't understand how there are emulators for the Wii which had motion controls and the Nintendo DS also had screwy annoying forced mechanics like for Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow forcing you to draw a stupid doodle on the second screen or Zelda Spirit Tracks making you blow on the second screen to play a musical instrument. How do emulators deal with this shit?
Good luck emulating something that isn't Mario Odyssey at +20 fps
Gyro
ye I recently finished demon's souls and Ico on rpcs3
I fuck around with emulators but I never actually beat any game on them.
I am actually up to the City level in Odyssey on Yuzu.
Average of 40fps on my i7-3770
???
Is it higher resolution than on a Switch at least?
>Is it higher resolution than on a Switch at least?
You can up it yes but it's not cost free like cemu for now
Any idea how an i5 9600k would run it? And how is the PS3 emu? I have a PS3 I just haven't bothered to hack since I would have to open it and install some shit last I checked. Not worth the effort when I don't even know what game I would play.
Yes, but I don't emulate shitty modern consoles. Go download stella and emulate a real console, or hell, Vice and emulate a real computer.
>Needs a $1500 pc to work
>Still need to buy joycon to play games using motion capture
>Need to wait for roms to be leaked instead of playing them on release date then wait 36h for them to download
>20 fps
>Can't play it on the go
>Can't play online
Is emulating the switch really worth it ?
i played persona 5 on an I5-7600k when it only first started being playable it was fine aside from audio crackling which can be fixed
Does games like Bayonetta finally work?
Been years and the emulator(s) are still a fucking mess aside from that 2 or 3 games.
>Any idea how an i5 9600k would run it?
It's all about GHz like in the old times
The closer you can get to 4.0 GHz and above the better it is
Given the early this emulator was introduced and seeing its actual state, no, it's not worth it, but that fact alone makes it interesting enough. The sooner they start development, the sooner they work better.
>>Needs a $1500 pc to work
500$ and why don't you have one?
>>Still need to buy joycon to play games using motion capture
False
>>Need to wait for roms to be leaked instead of playing them on release date then wait 36h for them to download
You have poor internet.
5 GB take minutes on 200mbps
fps
No
>>Can't play it on the go
Grow up
>>Can't play online
Fuck zoomer kids
>Is emulating the switch really worth it ?
It has 2 good exclusive aka Mario and Xenoblade
I platinum'd botw on cemu
Didn't bayonetta 2 work perfectly years ago?
The amount of shitposting made me assume so at least.
no it didn't
the game had issues with audio
nah, bayonetta 2 have problem with audio and final boss broken color glitches
Yeh finally PCs are strong enough to compete with PS3 and switch. Console gamers no longer superior
the last Pokemon runs fine nintendocuck
DS still needs a fix for that issue.
imagine the meltdown if gen 8 runs within the first week
>that beautiful level design
>that fantastic soundtrack
Man how can people hate on sonic unleashed (day) is beyond me
I just need bloodborne
>still cant play armored core or ace combat
literally all i want to play from those libraries
>needs a $1,500 PC to work
The part that matters the most is the CPU, and you can find one that matches you socket for around $300 easy.
>still need to buy a joycon
Patently false
>can't play on release date and have to wait 36h
Maybe if you live in Kenya
>20FPS
Patently false
>can't play it on the go
Laptops are still a thing
>can't play online
For now. Emulators actually can go online, and even Cemu has been able to connect to official servers, albeit currently that one can only do so with dumped files so it's a bit of a moot point.
Should I keep the preferred SPU threads setting at 4 for all games, not just Demon's Souls?
it's comfy
>nintendocuck
I don't even have a switch, but have a (you), you earned it
Last thing I emulated was Skyward Sword a few months ago.
Bought an old wii-mote and got a usb sensor from ali for 3$. Game looked mindblowing in high resolution, better than most modern games.
The controls sucked, but I can't tell if it's from a damaged wii mote or just natural but I 100% the game either way and last bosses fights were really good
it's also about tsx that all haswell and newer intel cpus have
God we need a Drakengard 4 with her following one of the unresolved timelines
This. I'm not getting a PS4 for BB, Gravity Rush 2 and The Last Guardian. An emulator called Orbital popped up but if there is any progress it will take years.
>Drakengard 4
Obligatory.
WHERE DO I FIND SWITCH AND WII/U GAMES
I never played unleashed but I just watched that video and honestly, what the fuck was that? Wasn’t Sonic a platforming game at one point? That was a 3 minute QTE.
There's not a lot worth emulating on Switch, half the games are ports of Wii U games that play better on CEMU or other games that are either on PC or emulatable
Wii U games are great on PC though, playing 3D World upscaled is nice
try rutracker
>ow does the Switch emulator even deal with the parts of games like Mario Odyssey where motion controls are NEEDED to clear an obstacle?
No parts of odyssey require motion controls. Otherwise just hook up a Switch Pro controller and play as usual
Yeah, all of the Ace Combat games set in Strangereal except Air Combat and Ace Combat 2, aka the non-canonical ones, on Retroarch, PCSX2, PPSSPP and Citra. Now I'm waiting for Xenia to improve enough to be able to emulate AC6 properly and preferably at 60 FPS.
Ziperto has Wii U
No one hates on the day stages of unleashed. It's the unfun werehog stages that take up over half the game people hate
Im in the minority of those who found it fun, but it's definitely not sonic gameplay for sure, more like old god of war
Yes. Last night I was emulating Robot Alchemic Drive on my Ryzen 2500U+Vega8 laptop.
Required some hacks to bypass my laptops limiters (curse you HP and your artificial limitations. Even unlocked to 25/30w tdp this laptop gets nowhere near hot enough to even reach its regular thermal limit. You don't need max battery life if its plugged into the power adapter), and to optimise performance of pcsx2. (High priority and hyperthreading off)
Set the speed hacks to on and the sliders both to 1 and this game works fine. Fun game too. Very unique.
Sure, played Nier, Drakengard 3 and Dragon's Crown on rpcs3. Right now I'm using Dolphin though to play Xenoblade Chronicles.
Honestly can't count how many games I played on emulators. It allowed me to play all the classics I missed having never had a console.
I've heard PS2 emulation is still pretty bad, how true is that?
beggar tier. I suppose its alright if you dont want to invest 100 bucks for fatps2, fmcb, hard drive and hdd expansion.
Well its not terrible but its far from perfect.
You have to set it up on a game by game basis quite often. Typically setting both speed hack sliders to 1 is good but some games hate it and run better on 0. Other games need the software renderer to run right like Ape Escape 3 I think.
Software renderer is obviously very slow too. You need a strong PC to be able to use it. Otherwise you can run most things on an modern i5 processor with integrated graphics at stock resolution.
Except some specific case games which need real beefy specs. God of War, I think is notorious for needing high specs. Its the same with the PSP versions but I could be mixing them up a bit too.
Compared to Dolphin its not so good. Dolphin has some amazing optimisations though. I managed to run Super Mario Sunshine on a N3450 Celeron processor once.
For some games it's pretty bad. Games like MGS2 and MGS3 still have slowdowns during cutscenes and weird graphical glitches that can be fixed but require a beast CPU. The PCSX2 wiki is pretty good to get an idea how certain games are running.
Yeah Dolphin is amazing. I hope the PS2 one continues to improve.
MGS2 has a PC version at least.
which is its own can of worms but if you can get it running on windows 10 it's better than ps2 emulation at least.
Just remember that AMD emulates like shit when compared to Intel.
>AMD
You need to be 18 to post here.
Every sane adult buys Intel
That's what I was getting at, but AMD drones still claim other wise.
I wonder if Astral Chain will become playable on Yuzu right after being released or we will be forced to wait for a year.
what was the point of this post
this is a meme. 99% of games can be played by adjusting the resolution to what your system can handle. some games can run at 6x res just fine, some less. there isn't much else you have to do per-game aside from niche shit
i played through both at higher than normal res on a 2500k and pretty old ati card with no slowdowns
It is because the entire emulator is built upon hacks upon hacks. It took them over 10 years to get to this point. To make it any better it will require a start over. And none of them are willing to do it. So it will be forever stuck at
Good enough tier check wiki for settings
Its also one of the rare few emulators that can actually run BETTER in Linux because the Linux version can use Vulkan really well.
Vulkan renderer in Windows is a mess and doesnt look to improve anytime soon. DX12 got discontinued (sad because it usually worked better than Dolphin and sometimes even the DX11 in some handful of games on low end hardware but i see why they would prioritise Vulkan over it though).
On my GPD Win 2, in Linux, I was able to maintain a full 50fps on the PAL version of Brawl, with 8 ice climbers on New Pork City, max items, with the final smash going off. That's on a 7Y30 with a Intel HD620. That's amazing quite honestly. (It did slowdown in PAL60 though, so that's the hardware limitations coming in)
The progress on RPCS2 is fucking amazing. On my relatively old 4790k DeS is playable in stable framerate from the beginning to end, including 1-1 which lagged like shit even on consoles.
>what was the point of this post
Pledge my allegiance to Israel
DeS without blur and aliasing is kino
Fix your aspect ratio you trained chimp. How can people play things like this?
RPCS3 is such a shit emulator. Almost nothing works and it's filled with glitches and bugs.
Demon's souls requiring Windows 10 because the devs are total shit is a joke, and it's funny how they claimed for over a year it was fully playable.
dolphin's dx12 render was rewritten, its back
Wii - you can hook up real wii controleer to a pc with all motion controls. But also can just emulate certain motion contols to a single button.
DS screen - just draw with a mouse on the screen.
Blow - use mic or again, simulate mic input with a button.
>kino
>Fix your aspect ratio you trained chimp. How can people play things like this?
People born after 1990 have no memory of 4:3 tv
I just want pic related to be playable at 60 fps and 4k.
Game still holds up visually, just needs a resolution boost.
>Demon's souls requiring Windows 10
Fuck are you on about?
Oh that's excellent news. It probably is the best option for Windows going forward. Vulkan drivers for Windows are just too unreliable right now to rely on.
>Demon's souls requiring Windows 10
Is this true? Kek
>RPCS3 is such a shit emulator.
I finished 2 games in it. Without any glitches.
DX12 probably.
Not that user but what did you play on it?
>Demon's souls requiring Windows 10
How to spot a liar
Win 7 has official DX12 support now.
Saint Seiya Brave Soldiers and Saint Seiya Sanctuary Battle.
I've been contemplating getting a switch because I'm hoping Rune Factory will be followed up by a Story of Seasons game. But those are the only two interesting games and considering the progress emulators are making with the switch already, I'm pretty sure I won't waste hundreds of bucks.
what's wrong with it?
Is that implemented already? I heard it was coming. But also that the OS is getting discontinued too.
no it doesn't, thats for halo only
It's not. Most games have minor, easily-fixable issues at worst and every game can be played with no issue in software mode (provided you have a recent CPU).
Nah, I finally decided to stick with flash carts/HDDs on the real thing because of how piss poor some emulators are like the N64, Genesis (mainly because of the sound. Gameplay is fine, but I'm a Genesisfag so the sound is unacceptable to me), and then some other ones that are considered to be awesome but have a shit ton of issues like the ps2
You're asking what's wrong with a stretched image?
>Is emulating the switch really worth it ?
Right now? Probably not, but as much as you might think otherwise the point of emulation isn't piracy of currently-available products.
>what's wrong with it?
Literally most ps4 games are Late Ps3 games in terms of graphics with resolution boosts
nice answers
>Demon's souls requiring Windows 10
You're a moron.
game?
If you're not annoyed by simply looking at an incorrect AR then there's nothing anyone can say to convince you.
>PS3 and Switch emulators are improving a lot.
Lie. Both Demon Souls and Mario Odyssey runs like shit (10-15 fps) on my average PC. Do not trust bait patreon videos on youtube.
You have a dual-core Pentium.
>I'm too dumb to configure the RPCS3 and I'm also retarded enough to even try to emulate a game that's barely 2 years old on a raw ass emulator
don't bother posting anymore
You PC was average 10 years ago wasn't it.
But they are improving a lot.
>on my average PC.
Arrest these people right now! They are desecrating the original hardware and the efforts of the developers!
>Average pc
>Not Master race pc
user get your priorities straight now
can i play metal gear online revival with it yet. if not then idc
>werks on my machine!
How is Xenia?
>doesn't werk on my machine!!
can't play DeS on emu with the compiling shaders bullshit.
I can easily run MH World, DMCV and Sekiro on my PC.
And I finished P5 on rpcs3. Demon Souls still broken mess performance wise.
rpcs3 works really well on my machine (ryzen 2400g apu)
the only issues are the compability issues in general. it allmost runs no game appart from the popular once
cant say anything about yuzu though, does it even support vulkan? (else im propably fucked anyway)
Smt nocturne benefits extra ordinarily from 1080p and savestates. The visual / art style scales surprisingly well.
I wished they would port it to newer consoles, with some quality of life improvements the newer games brought.
>savestates
zoom zoom
>he doesn't use time saving save states
Must suck being old.
Fuck traditional save systems.
Eternal Sonata? How is it?
your PC just sucks
if you worry about wasting time then you shouldnt be playing video games.
Video games are good, wasted time is not.
Just waiting patiently for Xenoblade Chronicles 2
you can if you compile the shaders or your cpu is fast enough for it to not be noticeable
afro samurai
might as well skip to the ending with hex editor. or better yet watch it on youtube. absolute emuzoomer mong
might be playable now, I think it had random crashes when I tried it last
I play games to have fun. Ancient save mechanics are for relics like you.
Whatever britnigger, have fun redoing the same things over and over for self-fellatio brownie points, I'll have fun actually playing the game.
>my average PC
No shit, you stupid nigger. It only runs nicely on a GOOD PC.
The games are built upon hacks upon hacks
>You are handed a 10-inch thick stack of manuals written by Japanese hardware engineers. The first time you read the stack, nothing makes any sense at all. The second time your read the stack, the 3rd book makes a bit more sense because of what you learned in the 8th book. The machine has 10 different processors (IOP, SPU1&2, MDEC, R5900, VU0&1, GIF, VIF, GS) and 6 different memory spaces (IOP, SPU, CPU, GS, VU0&1) that all work in completely different ways. There are so many amazing things you can do, but everything requires backflips through invisible blades of segfault. Getting the first triangle to appear on the screen took some teams over a month because it involved routing commands through R5900->VIF->VU1->GIF->GS oddities with no feedback about what your were doing wrong until you got every step along the way to be correct. There was a debugger for the main CPU (R5900). It worked pretty OK. For the rest of the processors, you just had to write code without bugs.
Is the Orbital PS4 emulator a meme?
>There was a debugger for the main CPU (R5900). It worked pretty OK. For the rest of the processors, you just had to write code without bugs.
This is an absolute nightmare for software engineers.
You don't need a good PC. An average modern one is more than enough.
have fun living a life of such low intelligence that you struggle with children's toys to the extent you need to retort to cheating.
Time you spend doing something you enjoy is never wasted. Only mindbroken wageslaves and people obsessed with money and/or fame think otherwise.
>kill boss
>mc mamudooned on the way to save point
>lost 30 minutes of progress
Games aren't challenging, wasting time isn't a challenge, get your head out of your ass.
Only hack coders moan about how much work they have to do.
PCSX2 is a shit, doing damage control for them is not worth your time.
>Games aren't challenging
yet you still cheat. pathetic life.
Nah, i really enioyed smt nocturne with savestates more. Let aside the qol improvements, like taking a break from the game whenever etc. Smt nocturne has a few instant death attacks, that you can't immunize your party completely against and they come quite randomly, and you are at risk of losing progress rather constantly in certain areas.
And of course, the monster fusion with random skill inheritance can be a pain aswell.
Sheet, at one point i used action replay codes for 8x exp gain, and had a blast playing the game. You see, this kind of versatility and easy access is the greatest argument for emulation.
Been playing Persona 5, Nier Gestalt,Drakengard 3 and Demon Souls they all work perfectly however does anyone know how Ninja Gaiden works on there? 1 and 2
>I play video games to prove my abilities!!
Make sure you don't pass off when you sniff your own ass fumes.
I'm playing Demon's Souls but I can only ever play for 1-2 hours. After that my CPU starts jumping to 100% load too frequently for me to enjoy the game.
>Use the 1500$ PC for games switch will never ever get
>Use any generic PS4 Controller that can play other games too
>ROMs need to be leaked when the data can be taken from one copy straight for millions of people
>Anything Nintendo running shit
>Playing games in public like a manchild
>Can play online tho
Damn. You're retarded.
Why are you so obsessed with how people enjoy their entertainment? Your insecurities are showing.
I've got 2700x and an RTX 2060, think i can run demon souls decently?
Savestates are about alleviating tedium, not reducing challenge. You are incredibly pretentious.
>I cheat in video games to prove I'm on the mental level of a brain damaged child!
I like emulation, but playing on the real hardware feels better to me.
You are obsessed about turning an entertainment medium into a symbol of intellectual worth. That's pathetic.
tedium gatekeeps retards out of good video games. thanks to emulation every mouthbreather like you can savestate through them now.
it mostly depends on the CPU
You GPU is easily capable to even upscale the res.
Long unskipable cutscenes before a boss fight is surely the greatest invention ever made in video games.
>I'm not a mouthbreather because I willingly bash my head against walls
yeah but I hope you're not using stock cooling
Just finished pic related. Twas good times.
I look forward to emulating the new Pokemon Games.
Playing games with no aliasing, crisp textures and locked 60fps feels better to me. I like to enjoy games in their greatest possible iteration.
I played Super Mario 3D Land. Fun 3DS game.
GOOD man.
Save States are a blessing. Some older games have awful saving systems. I’m looking at you Grandia Xtreme.
Wait so you can emulate TMS? I thought it had issues since some stuff was locked to the game pad thing.
NES era save systems are all nightmares.
you're the type of guy to play new vegas with no patches
What's the minimum CPU required for emulation?
Is i5 3570 good enough?
Yeh I emulated psov2 on reicast and played online in a server with 1 player online, me.
It's pretty much flawless, I had 3 crashes in 65hrs and there's an annoying shadow bug sometimes but otherwise it ran great. There's no motion control stuff, you get the mini map and messages on the gamepad screen which you can have open in another window or press ctrl+tab to open the gamepad over the game.
Plus you can play the de-censored version.
my i3 runs it at 30 fps.
ps3 emu only has a few games that are good but demon souls runs at native for me.
That's plenty, mine is overclocked a bit but I'm running all games in at least 4k, some 5k or 7k, with reshade added on top just fine. Of course it depends on the game and some run like shit no matter what.
torrents
nobody is working on it anymore and it requires a decent gpu to run. to make it better you have to redo the emulator. It has the ability to play games from the disc which is nice.
How mental and deluded are you pc drone? Sega genesis, snes, nes and all retro consoles play better on original hardware without shitty glitches, lag, terrible sound or stupid bad processing of shadows. There's TONS of shitty emulation moments on pc. Dolphin emulator is well made, but it locks sometimes.
savestates a decade ago
>dude dont use savestates they're lame
>I know I just couldnt beat this one part in the game without it
>lol noob
>yeah I know I'm pretty bad at this game haha :)
savestates now
>dude dont use savestates they're lame
>excuse me I can play this game however I want
>lol noob
>you must be very insecure to think playing video games properly is an achievement worth noting :)
Why are you getting so defensive over people's opinions? He's obviously not talking about retro consoles when talking about aliasing and texture quality. Your insecurities are leaking.
did they fix persona 5 yet? i know they can't officially talk about it since atlas are slurping sony's semen
What are your settings and build for Demons Souls Yea Forums? Everything I try is shit. Either plays fine with 100 crashes or stable but plays like dogshit.
Yeah, people did a lot of stupid shit in the past. There's an overabundance of good media clamoring for our attention, it's not the 90's anymore when there were 5 good games released in a year and we had to make them last. I'm not going to look back in 5 years and think about the extra hour I spent in that dungeon because the game crashed or I had to go do something. I'll be thinking of the overall experience the game gave me, not some worthless playtime metric.
How is RDR coming along? I would have to replay it but it aged badly and the framerate really gets me so I can't play it
Nothing passed PS1 works at anything resembling an acceptable level. I use original hardware for N65 and up.
>getting this worked up over something you clearly know nothing about
The framerate on original hardware is often horrible and barely playable. Most emulated games run smoother and the glitches are usually minor visual glitches that don't affect gameplay.
Save states are for cucks but I dont have anything against resume states like Nintendo introduced on the Wii U roms or that the PS4/Vita has for the entire system via sleep mode.
It's a shit game don't bother.
Upgrade
No one hates on the day stages except for classic cucks. What people despise is medal collecting and Werehog stages.
Even if you don't hate Werehog stages yourself, you have to recognize 20-30 minute stages in a Sonic game is horrendous, especially so if it's some stupid beat-em up gameplay.
I don't understand the meme around PS2 emulation being bad.
I've played a handful of games using it and only had literally one game not work with it (Metropolismania 1), and I don't bother looking at wikis or adjusting my setting per game.
Meanwhile Dolphin is praised as this perfectly developed emulator, but I try to play popular games on it and some of them will be graphically glitched to high heaven or flat out unplayable.
It's zoomers raised on OSX and mobile os's who get scared when faced with a settings menu or have to take 2 minutes to read a wiki.
Can my i7-7700 run this?
>who get scared when faced with a settings menu or have to take 2 minutes to read a wiki.
Like I said though, I don't even need to do that myself and the emulator runs fine on damn near every game i've played.
STOP WORKING ON SHITTY POKEMON GAMES AND START GETTING XENOBLADE TO WORK
youtube.com
Emulation > Original Hardware
its actually zoomers who dont have the money to invest on actual retro consoles and are too dumb to solder modchips.
I'm not sure anyone would know, but it can't hurt to ask. I can play Demon's Souls on RPCS3, but any time there's a physics interaction; i.e. kicking a corpse, the game just hard freezes for me. Is there any (known) cause/fix for that?
PS2 emulation is actually pretty good if you use the latest builds, the "stable" release on the official website is horrible performance wise compared to the current builds.
buildbot.orphis.net
>Emulating PS3
Why don't you just hack one instead?
>Why would you want an all-in-one game center vs. swapping inputs and hardware all the time
I wonder
>tfw FX-8320
I just want to play demon's souls in 1080p and drakengard 3 with a playable framerate but compiling shaders
Because PS3 games had notoriously bad framerates and sub-HD resolutions.
I'm starting to think Drakengard 3 is just a janky game and it has nothing to do with the emulator running it.
oh it 100% is, I was talking about just wanting to play it not on the PS3 because literally 15 fps
I'd rather cut off my dick than ever use a controller to play video games.
Never cut your dick off.
yes
Related. Does the game need beefy CPU to run? I only own like a i5 2500k,not sure if it hande the game well.
