Saint's Row 1 is a budget GTA.
Saint's Row 2 is good because it filled the gap in silliness left by GTAIV.
Saint's Row 3 is really fucking boring and bought into its own hype.
Saint's Row 4 is like an apology letter for SR3 and makes fun of itself but it feels insincere due to how cheap and lazy it is, like a fat kid calling himself fat to stop other people doing it first.

The more you liberate the city and advance the story it slowly starts approaching dawn and after you finish the game you can manually change the time to the middle of the day and other settings. Have to use a cheat code to disable the stupid shimmering though.

This. It's fun. It also runs natively on Linux, the only free gaming platform for patricians. The only problem is permadark, the sun doesn't rise properly, everything is grimdark. This makes it not colorful, and colour is almost as important as fun.
