How do we fix the prehistoric Persona games? What would a remake have to change in order to be more appealing to the general public?
How do we fix the prehistoric Persona games...
Nothing.
P2 in particular is exactly as it should be narratively speaking.
It's dogshit gameplay wise tho.
Just give it updated gameplay and dungeons and leave everything else the same. Fuck the Calendar, fuck Social Links, and fuck Hashino's team implementing any new story elements that would damage the characters or story.
>fuck Hashino's team implementing any new story elements that would damage the characters or story.
This would absolutely happen if remakes actually got released for P1 or 2.
Nothing, just improve the combat. P1's narrative is genuinely good and P2 has the best narrative in the series, both are held back solely by shitty combat.
I miss how bizarre the stories in these games were alongside the settings. They went full Jung and actually implemented the psychology aspect in the story well. The settings in every subsequent game have been pretty lackluster.
They really should have made P3 onward a new IP and kept the feel of P1/P2 for subsequent games in the Persona series.
Make Black Mark canon.
Just let them rot, all three have terrible stories and gameplay.
Yeah, everything after just feels different. Even better, the controversy with Tadashi should have never happened. If he stayed on board, I imagine things would have turned out way different.
>Terrible gameplay
Well yeah, it's outdated as fuck.
>Terrible story
Opinion fully discarded.
>all three have terrible stories
How would you know, you never played them.
It was a dumb move by him bjt really it had little effect on his job. Both P2 games didn't push units as neither was really the high fantasy that helped make FFVII sell millions.
Remake them exactly as they are but change the dungeons and gameplay and literally nothing else.
all persona game have shit gameplay
This RPG's suck we need to make the gameplay more like Fortnite amiright boys XD we did it Reddit!
Just leave them the way they are, this shit is old as fuck anyway. Who cares about some shitty games from the early 2000s or whatever the fuck
just repeat the same shit gameplay for 20 years
But Persona 1, 2, 3, and 5 all have substantially different gameplay. You can criticize them for a lot of things but they aren't the same.
Is there an alternative to experience the story of those games without the awful gameplay? I'm talking about something like the P3 movies in terms of quality and fidelity
I'm not that casual as I sound but my niche are rhythm games and rpgs are something that I'm just not good at/not enjoy as much
Don't even waste time replying to those kind of comments it just outs them as not having played the games extensively enough to know this
Persona 2 is fine the way it is, but,
>Megami Tensei II
>SMT
>SMT2
>SMTif...
>Devil Summoner
>Persona 1
>Soul Hackers
should all be remade in the EO engine with:
>Shigeo Komori (EO II, III, U1, U2, Nexus) directing
>Shogo Isogai (Majin Tensei, Nocturne, Raidou 1, Strange Journey, Trauma Center, New Blood) on additional writing
>Ryota Koduka (SMTIV, SMTIVA) on Music Arrangement.
Persona 2 is brain dead easy you can just turn battle animations off and the game practically plays like a Visual Novel
>EO engine
NO FUCK OFF AND DIE YOU POTATO LOVER
All Persona games are glorified novels in reality.
Leave the potatoes out of this.
What the fuck are you even talking about?
Also, It would be the ideal situation since EO is Atlus's only 3D First Person Dungeon Crawling series. It wouldn't make sense to make something new that just imitates something that already works.
So are smt games just with less story and much more drawn out dungeon crawling
at least smt games have a story
1) Improve navigation. Pin on the map isn't fun. LEt us wander the streets.
2) Scrap the FP dungeon, make REAL fleshed out locations like in Persona 5 where you can interact with the environment and do fun stuff.
3) Make combat snappier. More stuff in less time. Fighting is a chore and 90% of the time you choose a strong attack and hit the auto-battle(repeat) option. Reduce the encounter rate, increase rewards, and make the fights harder and reward creativity more.
4) Take the lessons from P4G and P5 fusions. Let us choose inheritance. Charge the player Yen/Macca or whatever to do it if you need to, but make it worthwhile.
5) Allow the fusion screen to JUST SHOW RESULTS and let us pick which combination we want from a list if needed.
6) Make the minigames better. The gambling should be skill based, not RNG.
7) Make the world more interesting, flesh out characters more, give more exploration breaks in between battles. You don't have to change the story, but maybe expand on existing characters or put some NPCs around that explain the lore and build the world more.
In SMT you more directly drive the story forward though, while in modern Persona it's all a treadmill because of the calendar system.
>EO is Atlus's only 3D First Person Dungeon Crawling series
???
SMT games are barebones story wise until SMT4.
Even SMT3 had a barebones story with some highschool level philisophy until the Maniax re-release expanded on the characters via the peephole scenes in the Amala Network.
SMT's gameplay is actually pretty solid. Not only that but the dungeons actually manage to be engaging. Unironically Nocturne knocks a good half of Persona games out when it comes to dungeons.
>Enemies cant know you down & you have no weaknesses
>full compendium & no cost to combine persona
>remove proficiency and kindness
There, I saved the dying franchise
What other modern blobbers do they have?
Are the other SMT games not 3D dungeon crawlers? What was Strange Journey then? Chopped liver?
>dying franchise
But Purseowner games sell.
>What would a remake have to change in order to be more appealing to the general public?
Get rid of everything that made the story good, give Maya giant "am I kawaii desu???" eyes, and turn it into a shitty high school dating simulator.
>What was Strange Journey then?
A decade old and followed up by the SMT4 duology's third person wandering.
keep the stories/characters the same, but add in the battle system and qol improvements from p5. simple as that.
Strange Journey came out almost a decade ago, and SMT mainseries hasn't been First Person since Soul Hackers. Neither are suitable for remakes of Classic SMT games in 2019.
Make it a dating sim
You'll take your shoehorned waifubait that ruins the story and you'll like it.
