>Think I'm good at competitive games
>Play against other people
>Get destroyed
Think I'm good at competitive games
>GF is god tier at tetris
>Start training via Tetris effect in all kinds of modes and lightening speeds
>Finally decide to battle her
>Lose miserably.
Good, means there's places you can improve. Imagine how fucking boring it'd be shitstomping every kid you play and never having any actual games.
>think I'm good at cooking
>cook other people
>get arrested
Did you aim for 2-wide, 4-wide, Tetrises, or PC?
I have the opposite problem
>Naturally good at games
>But I like to play games just for fun
>End up in top 10% of players playing exclusively memes and my own nonsense
Breaking meta has always been fun to me, though it kinda sucks in team games where you get flamed 80% of the time for not playing the meta.
>Play game for dozens of hours
>Finish all SP content on hardest difficulty
>Keep practicing for combos or whatever
>Play against friend who played the game on easy/normal for only like 5 hours
>Get destroyed
Why does it keep happening
>Practice in singleplayer
>Spend hours doing so
>Multiplayer is completely different and you need to relearn the game
>Think I'm bad at competitive games
>Play against other people
>Mash buttons
>Win
>consistently win online matches
>go to a competitive local
>get utterly trashed
How can you possibly think you're good at competitive games without playing against other people in the first place
Where does that confidence come from
>see them trying advanced tactics
>continue button mashing
>they have no strategy to counter such impeccable play
>stomp them without even realizing what I did
I gotta say. it's a special type of feeling.
that's cause online play places you against people of your skill. So, while you're playing against guys your level all around the world, there's probably more than a few people in your city that could stomp you without breaking a sweat
>destroy most casual players
>get destroyed by the real experts
Happens to me with a lot of games. I need to put more time into stuff to get out of that intermediate level.
AI/bots don't act like people
>Think I'm good at fighting games
>Go to major
>Get fucked up in main game, but do ok in games I don't take seriously
If I'm gonna put all this time to go 0-2 in SFV, why not just put that time into a more enjoyable game?
Do you play Puyo, OP? How large are your biggest chains typically? You can beat a lot of people online if you learn GTR and practice it, along with knowing the basic stairs and sandwich forms. Puyo Nexus has good guides if you don't know those terms.
Locals made me humble about my skills. But learning from mistakes and growing are the most satisfying part for me.
For the chance at cash, like most people who still bother with SFV
>friend is god tier at Puyo Puyo
>can't into it at all
>can sort of Tetris but he still beats me
>same friend still won't play Smash with me which I'm better than him at
shut the fuck up onsokumaru
