Personally, I hope BLM continues to not get any party support. The moment it does is the moment it becomes broken, and that's when the nerfs happen. BLM has been sitting pretty lowkey where it's been getting consistent buffs, but because the meta comp is so centralizing, it hasn't had to receive any significant nerfs.

I don't know why people take issue with this aspect of mch. You're already pretty much forced to do that anyway regardless of what job you play. Most raid buff cooldowns are multiples of each other so every minute or two you have your big dick trick+chain+litany whatever windows you want to cram your skills into to abuse those multipliers.
If you don't care about those then you're already not playing optimally, you may as well just mash random buttons in wildfire and not care too much too then since you're already gimping yourself in both cases.

So, you use Blizzard III, then Ecnochain. That gives you Blizzard IV, which gives you extra three blue things on your job gauge. Then you do Fire III and now you can Fire IV three times thanks to those extra three blue things. Also, I don't know how the fuck to play BLM.

Rotation is Blizz3, Thun3, Blizz4, Fire3, Fire 4 3 times, Fire1 (preferably Sharpcast) Fire 4 3 times then back to Umbral ice. The whole point of BLM is to maximize your Fire 4 casts because that's where your big dick damage is.

You use it when your mana is full during Ice 3. Then you use fire 4 until you're out of mana.

To be fair the combat is nothing to praise. It shines only in raids as it was made for boss encounters and not much else. Dungeon trash and minibosses don't really make the most of it even at endgame. It's why Eureka sucked ass, the combat was just not made for it and most of the content in this game is so braindead you never really have been given incentive to properly play your job unless you raid which a majority of the population doesn't do.

As a lala player I find it hysterical that there is an entire subsection of the fanbase who gladly shat on lalafell players for playing "children" only to ragequit the game because they didn't get to play actual children.

AST: Quick snap decision making with Cards/Royal road means it's a lot more active and a lot more fun to play. SCH is braindead simple and just as effective but your DPS friends will always love you when you drop balance.

Machinist is the least played by a wide margin. It's a gun job like Corsair but the playstyle is a little fucky. You basically have a 10 second window every 60 seconds where you press FUCKING EVERYTHING and then you do nothing in between.

If you like support jobs, maybe Scholar, Astrologian, Bard, or Ninja.

If you like COR then AST has some RNG elements in their card buffs. RDM is the easiest job in the game and almost impossible to fuck up. I've not played in a while but i think DRG is like top tier dps right now. All the tanks are pretty decent right now, DRK and WAR are most enjoyable though from most tanks i hear from.

WoW has been the largest and thus most visibly successful MMO for years. A lot of people just assume WoW is the best at everything, even though right now the Mythic raid tier is a fucking joke up to Jaina who i'm convinced was made shitty on purpose with how bad it is. While everyone mashes their 5 button rotation and hopes the boss doesn't randomly fuck the raid on RNG and wipe the group. This of course begins after the requisite gear grind since initially it's tuned too high for your raid to actually beat enrage. Then sometimes it's still too high and Blizz has to step in and fix it because it's just actually mathematically impossible (Fetid pre nerf in Uldir) All the while the game throws such amazingly difficult mechanics challenges at you as; don't be colorblind on Mekkatorque and hey, when the big laser targets you move it out of the fuckin raid.

Your use of Sharpcast basically depends on if you want a free Fire III or a Thunder III/IV at its absolute most literal. A free all-damage-at-once Thunder cast is an immediate DPS gain, a free Fire III cast is potentially an instant switch from Umbral to Astral or just a quick no-MP refresher of Astral Fire when you're slinging out Fire IVs. Like most oGCDs with specific effects you should generally use it whenever it's up. Sharpcast Fire will be more useful to you in raid/trial scenarios and Sharpcast Thunder will be more useful to you in dungeons

If you lose the gauge and Enochian in a boss fight, use sharpcast and swiftcast together to get back to full power without wasting time. Use thunder every time the boss loses it, to keep the damage uninterrupted. Simple as that.

If you struggled with Mist Dragon? Probably pretty tough for you.

First boss dodge markers and watch where his cone AOE is turning. The group will move to the safe zone so just stick with them and follow as the boss drops cleaves.

Second boss only major mechanic is when he goes underground keep an eye on the walls around you. The wall that turns red and melty is where he's gonna pop up and ifrit dash you which will straight kill you if your gear is bad.

Final boss is dodge markers, when the boss uses its fancy attack you'll see lines on the ground bouncing off of walls where it's going to go so don't stand in the way. Final Phase is just burn the boss and caster/ranged LB is an automatic win so try to save it for this segment.

Dungeons always see people in them because of the roulette system.

You will find parties fairly quick (even as DPS). There was a roulette mechanic where people get a load of exp for going into low level dungeons, if you remember.
You could also buy story skip potions on the shop but I'm not sure where they place you.

No need to state the obvious user. They need to redesign the pace at which you get new spells in 1-50 and maybe speed exp gain up by 30% permanently. If they prune some MQ in that bracket aswell, it might improve the pacing enough to get more ppl to stick around.
