>Best cutscenes in a Sonic game ever, including an entire short that had almost no relation to the actual game aside from characters

No, why would I watch e-celebs? I was playing the Wii version after already beating the Xbox version and was reminded of just how fucking good it was, ever the version on weaker hardware.

It's an extremely mediocre game that Sonic fans like to overate and act like some kind of masterpiece. But I guess when you are used to get literal garbage every year, anything else looks glorious in comparison

I liked the werehog levels. The day stuff was kinda fun too, I guess, But Werehog was the real shine of the game.

No modern port, it kind of runs like shit. They need to do a PC port already.

Is this better than Colors? Because I played it the other day and it was fucking trash. Almost every level is a poorly designed 2D level with yawn inducing puzzles and shit platforming. It's borderline false propaganda.

The Xbox version, definitely.

The Wii version is almost equivalent. 1 fast stage and then 4 mission stages that are just challenges in the same stage.

Colours doesn't Werehog though, so you don't get to appreciate the environments like in Unleashed.

Colors is overrated and only got hype because it didn't shift focus.

The only decent 3d Sonic game is Generations all of them are so bad please take Isuka off the team for fuck sake

See heres the thing I don't get about action beat em up games with combos. I'm not just nitpicking at Unleashed either because Nier Automata has this same problem. Why bother having a combo list when those combos don't mean anything? Take Devil May Cry for instance. when you string a bunch of hits and combos you get rewarded for it (D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS). In Nier Automata it has a bunch of moves you can do. That's very cool. But you don't have any incentive to learn those moves because there's no payoff besides short bursts of spectacle. Sonic Unleashed has the same problem but it's even worse because you're spending your time grinding for new moves that have no reason for you to use them, but not solely because you're not rewarded for doing so but also because the enemy pool is so small and even against bosses you have absolutely no benefit to those other moves when a basic 5 hit basic combo gets the job done just as well. I still really like Unleashed though its the best of the boost games in my opinion.

If that was your ussue with Colors (as it should be), then yes, Unleashed is waaaaay fucking better than that piece of shit.

The only good thing about it is production values, admittedly they were so good they tricked everybody into thinking the shallow boost gameplay had any room to grow or was even sustainable.

Combos do more damage, I guess. They're also fun to do, and the amount of EXP you get in a single level means you unlock plenty after every stage, so you get to try them out in the next stage. Also some combos help with platforming by letting you move better in midair, or increase your speed like the needle pinwheel whatever attack.

I enjoyed Unleashed overall but I can't defend the Werehog gameplay. It was insanely boring and really brought down the entire game.

Boost is the best way to approach Sonic. Otherwise you get garbage like Sonic Adventure.

I do remember the air combos being a lot better than they were probably meant to be because you could do lots of traversing in certain spots in levels with some of the moves which is pretty cool. Eggman Land especially

I really love how the 2 versions actually had differences and not only in the graphics like most of the games do

I'm playing the Wii version on the Wii U gamepad right now and I already beated the Xbox 360 version

The only problem with the "new gen" version is that all the objets are really hidden and there's no clue of where they are, in the "old gen" version you can get a clue,also the level up system is better on the old gen version

Also this game is better than sonic colors, I don't fucking get why no one talks about unleashed but they talk a lot of colors where the levels are forgettable and the "humor" is lame

Yea but that's not what people play a Sonic game for.

Sonic Adventure is not garbage. Boost is a fine approach but they haven't tried to expand the gameplay. They never added onto what was already there. I would say wisps was a good thought but it wasn't handled very well in Colors whereas in Lost World they were optional 95% of the time and were handled very well because it was mostly up to the player if they wanted to use the wisp or not unless you're trying to do challenges or something.

What more can they add to it? Plus they did add to it with wisps though that was shit. Sonic gameplay is inherently simple, the first 3 games are played with literally one button

Boosting is at it's peak in Unwiished, only gives you a short burst for a couple of seconds, not something you can press and just blast through the rest of the stage, and usually it constantly will end up having you boost off the stage half the time, almost like going too fast is sometimes a BAD thing.

Why are you so terrified of going fast? I don't understand. Is your reaction time really that bad? If so, you know you can always play three levels more than once, right?

If Generations boost had more things to test your reaction time (Seaside Hill for example) that would be Ace.

Sonic Team will probably discard boost in future games because of Forces even though boost wasnt the problem, just terrible level design and janky controls

It's not. I understand the flaws behind both adventure games and they're completely justified but I wouldn't say they're outright garbage.
Well considering we're 4 games in with boost gameplay I think they could take gameplay elements from other Sonic games and mix it in with the boost games. Like Lost World for example when there were occasionally 3 split paths each with their own way of going through them you could put that into boost gameplay for example Path A could be doing homing attacks through a series of enemies with platforming afterwards. Path B could be testing your abilities with the quickstep ability. Path C could see how well you can use the parkour ability while dodging obstacles which would also be something borrowed from Lost World.

I can agree on that in Forces because there were times when I boosted off of a level (I think it was the casino forest level and even metropolis) it even seems like Sonic Team says this subtly with them saying these games would be too short because you boost through levels so fast so we add in other stuff to slow the game down. I think I understand what they were doing in Forces by nerfing the boost gauge a bit because it went down much faster (yeah I know air boosting was completely busted) but at the same time when you're left without boost Sonic doesn't feel quite right. Now there's certainly a way to balance that if you give it time and thought of course but that depends on changing some level design a bit, enemy placement, maybe giving Sonic a better slide while keeping his momentum and other things. It's lots of simple stuff that end up opening more doors and it gets a little chaotic or maybe I'm just over thinking it.
