I just meant a lot of people here think he does. As for MGS3 we can agree to disagree, but there is something special about games that can remember they are videogames from time to time while still being serious. MGS3 is a great example because it actually has a really engaging and emotionally wrenching narrative, but also has enough silly codec calls over the top references and otherwise self aware shenanigans, that when I start fucking around to have fun in the gameplay, it fits tonally and makes sense. No jarring disconnect from gameplay and narrative, without making the gameplay boring to fit a dramatic tone. I am not saying every game has to be like that. But as much as I love Near a tomato, It feels like a Platinum game with Taro elements tacked in, sort of disjointed. GTA games historically did this same thing very well.

HAHA, regardless, Konami is a publisher. Kojipro was/is the developer. And it is unfair to simply reference budget. There are tonnes of incredibly low budget games that have amazing gameplay. Square Enix is hardly a no name publisher, and I am sure Nier had a higher budget than say Cuphead or bloadstained.

But one has to take into account when the meticulosity and ammount of progress made in his games have been done with the backing of a multimillion dollar production at the top of the game, which is Kojima's case for most of his career (take "millions" out of the picture in development in early 90s tho, lol). This is by no means a way to "take him down" or something, there would be other ways to do that from his artistry and so on, I'm just trying to contextualize him.

I mean I can take the point being owned by a large publisher can be a large publisher can be to a huge advantage for a studio.
