It doesn't, you got memed. FFXIV is designed to be a timesink, not to be a fun game. Only people playing are ERPers, grown men playing catgirl dress up and people whose only social interaction are MMOs.

The story only gets good with Heavensward, and game only gets slightly challenging outside of EX trials halfway through HW.
You've got a long way to go. But as a WHM main myself, I still enjoyed it a lot.

It gets fun for most around level 50 once you hit DLC quests and jobs. I just unlocked red mage and I am enjoying it MUCH more than past jobs, I managed to get to 50 in about 2-3 weeks of consistent play, doing my daily leveling duties when available.

Think of XIV like purgatory, it's better than hell (retail WoW) boring as sin and you're just waiting to get into heaven (Classic WoW)
