Why is Borderlands 2 better than The Pre-Sequel

So why isn't Borderlands The Pre-Sequel considered to be worse than Borderlands 2? I admit, when I originally played The Pre-Sequel, I too didn't think it lived up to it's predecessor, but I couldn't quite determine why. I've completed Borderlands 2 dozens of times, but only finished The Pre-Sequel once, and that was my initial play through. I tried to play through it again with the other characters, but I was never bothered enough to actually finish it. With the release of Borderlands 3 later this year (next year for real boys) I've been playing 2 again quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. This lead me to finally try The Pre-Sequel again, and I have been enjoying it quite a bit, much more than I thought I would. What gives? Why didn't I initially like The Pre-Sequel?

*Why is Borderlands The Pre-Sequel considered to be worse than Borderlands 2

Attached: What a terrible night to have autism.png (246x184, 3K)

Imagine the smell

Attached: Not on my christian 4chan.jpg (1239x1232, 217K)

It was boring and full of SJW shill

Ackhuwally the friend zone is mysoginystic concept

Also Memerlands meme meme meme etc being actual dialogue.

Because it was 100% unfiltered Anthony Burch autism. Whereas Borderlands 2 wasn't quite 100% Anthony Burch due to voice actor ad-libbing.

Characters were horribly off-model behaviorwise, extremely shitty people were put on a pedestal with PROGRESSIVISM as the shield to any possible arguments, the guns were even more tepid and boring than 2's with just as awful drop rates and without a dedicated modding community set out to fix it like with 2, the oz kits and the movement was extremely gimmicky and lead to far more frustration than it did to change things up, it made explosives even worse somehow, the environments were obscenely dull despite the setting, the story was the worst it could possibly be, most of the playable characters weren't interesting or fun to play as, most of the heads and costume skins were dogshit, a lot of the humor was either full blown reddit or aus shitposting distilled through Burch's shitawful attempts at humor, and worst of all the replayability was the lowest point in the series.

Attached: 1551490703835.jpg (1280x1143, 80K)

you've just described it yourself
>"never bothered enough to actually finish it"
nobody else was, it was just a bit shit

Because TPS feels so fucking slow and everything in it is a chore to do.

I like the classes more in BL2 but the mechanics and new guns in the pre sequel are better apart from the bullshit oxygen management. To be fair i only tried the cowboy lady and not-jack so the other classes could be more fun. The lack of end game in the pre sequel also bothers me and the lack of DLC compared to 2 turns me off of it. The gunzerker is just too much fun, i can't stop playing 2.

The campaign is short and has a distinct lack of content compared to 2. All the core mechanics are done better but it does not matter because there's barely anything to do with it all.

I want to replay TPS but I'd rather stab my ears out than listen to that shitty voice acting again, what language should I play?

Spanish

boobs and butt too big

The writing is horrible outside of main quests.
The maps are too huge and empty.
The sidequests have you go re-running those huge and empty maps to pad out the playtime.
Ausspeak is unintelligible garbage.
No enemy variety until the end of the game.

You disgust me, fellow Irishman

WHY THE FUCK DO I GET THE 3RD WEAPON SLOT HALF WAY THROUGH THE GAME. BL2 AND BK1 GIVE IT TO YOU WITHIN THE FIRST 40 MINUTES. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT???

honestly, they should just give you all weapon slots from the start. Its a dumb way to give players a feeling of progression

>Mordecai "wins" her
>loses her to Jack

was this bitch just slutting it up? Not gonna lie, I got a bit mad hearing that

>ree girls cant be sluts

I get what you mean, I'd argue all 4 slots should be available from the start, as the menu pauses the game anyway, so for the most part you can swap weapons out whenever needed with no risk, it's more quality of life than an actual upgrade.

Attached: Moxx.jpg (1246x1576, 235K)

she can, and apparently was. With how evil Jack seemed in BL2, what the fuck would be going through her mind to be with him? And the way Mordecai said "lost her to Jack" made her sound so pathetic.

I'd say french because they got the guy who dubbed Cartman in our language as Jack and it strangely work great but they did a shitty job regarding the voices random npcs; main casts is alright
Also all the tacked on accent and annoying voices got lost in translation but I guess it's for the better

Sauce? Iqdb, saucenao and Google give me nothing.

TPS has better gameplay but worse writing/story.

>Mi negro
Nah, I don't know. I guess the voices get the job done but it feels interchangable with the original. Plus, I find Spanish Claptrap more annoying.

The fucking oxygen system I had to babysit was obnoxious as hell. Most bosses couldn't be refought, the weapons were trash, the DLC was trash, the balancing was trash, etc etc. All around it was just a bad game.

LumiNyu

Attached: Moxx 2.jpg (3507x2292, 922K)

TPS has SHITTASTIC mission structure despite having better gameplay with the buttslams, lazers and ozkit stuff.

Like RAGE before it, no amount of gunplay will help you if the world and missions you give to the player are wonky or tedious, or as in the case of TPS both.

Haven't tried claptastic voyage yet though so can't comment on that.

The game is full of lame SJW shit but that one specific line from Torgue is an extremely thinly-veiled attempt by Torgue to save face after he catches himself whining about getting friend zoned. It’s an obvious joke that gets taken out of context.

Yeah I remember that, it's real early on. A bit of topic, but why was that joke bad? As far as I understand, the friendzone isn't a controversial topic?

Attached: Stacey Pilgrim.jpg (489x464, 33K)

Use Yandex

See

Only Jack's VA does a good job. The rest are shit. You can also apply that to 2

the joke was put in entirely to virtue signal against misogyny. it serves no other purpose

Claptastic voyage adds in a fucking fun weapon rarity called glitched guns, and that is literally the only good part of it. Get a shotgun with the one that makes it shoot super hard and it'll hit like a truck. The final boss fights are dogshit awful.

and this image's sauce? there's no way thats LumiNyu

Dandonfuga

That'll do

>Dandonfuga
blessed, thanks user

introduction of new gameplay elements but too much of it takes place on the boring ass fucking space station where new gameplay elements aren't taken advantage of

that was my #1 complaint

as to why you appreciated it more on a 2nd visit, probably the realization that ice works a million times better than slag for what its used for

>too much of it takes place on the boring ass fucking space station
I would say not even a third of it is on helios. You spend most of it on the moon and the indoor section of helios is pretty short as well. However I do agree there shouldn't be any "normal" grav sections since it is much harder to pull off slams in those situations.

The outdoor section of Helios is just as bad seeing how it translates into what's essentially a "teleporter" level with the jump pads, and first person platforming never makes for good gameplay, even if it's relatively easy platforming.

I enjoyed the movement options in The Pre-Sequel, I hope theres some of that in 3, which is likely with multiple planets. I dont know why people complained about the O2, they lasted enough, every enemy and box basically bled oxygen, and even when you ran out, damage was negligible at best

Attached: Sakurai blink.gif (201x259, 729K)

We already know there will be sliding

Attached: Running in the 90s.gif (160x160, 178K)

Yeah going back to 2 is painful. Having pretty much 0 movement options outside of stuff like execute blows.

>Kicks Jack to the curb
>Jack burns down her colosseum
>She blows up his space-superlaser in return and attempts to have him killed in the blast

All of Jack's misery in TPS is Moxxi acting out of petty spite.

>So why isn't Borderlands The Pre-Sequel considered to be worse than Borderlands 2
Isn't it? I see far more people criticize the pre-sequel as being the worst installment in the franchise.

That was a typo, see first reply in the thread

Too easy comparatively. Like you literally cant die unless you're Nisha, but she gets a literal aimbot as an ability

These borderlands makes me want to replay them, is there mod packs that are the best? I know BL2 has like two different ones between the community patch and something like make borderlands great again, but which one is better?
Does TPS have a definitive mod patch?

Attached: 1499982755003 2.jpg (494x500, 133K)

I actually like the lack of movement options in 2, it makes combat way more challenging. One of the biggest reasons the pre-sequel was so easy was being able to just jump out of the path of anything in your way, especially melee foes or grenades. In 2 UVHM you actually have to watch where you're going and not push up too far, getting swarmed means almost instant death and certain enemies like really aggressive melee monsters or suiciders or goliaths are scary as fuck.

what do people see in borderlands 1, my friend keeps saying he likes it more because of the "better" gunplay and better drops
but when i played it with him it's really dull with incredibly samey environments and really dull character skills, and the guns pretty much feel the same

Attached: 1511761809564.gif (275x225, 133K)

Borderlands has two extremes, you got the dull barren wasteland of 1 where almost all the gear feels interchangeable, and you got the wacky crazyness of 2 and TPS where guns do just absurdly silly things.

The distances in TPS feel a lot greater, and triton flats in particular is just shit to drive though. It takes so much more time just to get around in TPS. The level design is mostly worse; maps just aren't as fun to run as they are in BL2. The hub story level feel like they take entirely too long. Compare Concordia's introduction missions to Santuary's The beastiary isn't great, in particular the kraggons.

Melee foes are generally a joke though even in 2. I always shoot goliath's helmets off because their guns are way more deadly. Melee foes can usually be dealt with by walking backwards and jumping when they get close. If need be you can turn around and sprint. The only melee enemies in 2 that are a problem are the ones faster than you even when sprinting. However I only remember bosses and badass+ varkids having this issue.

it feels more grounded in reality
borderlands has become more of a caricature of itself over the years, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but some people like their games more subdued and atmospheric

Attached: 1397898861650.jpg (950x719, 134K)

Can't really put it into words, but BL2 just feels more fun to play. BL2 zergs you with a ton of enemies while presequel decreases enemy count by a ton. I much prefer presequel scaling though. BL2 may be fucked in uvhm and op levels, but it still feels more fun to play. BL2 enemy density with presequel scaling and BL3 will be a fantastic game and have potential to be the best Borderlands.

Pre-Sequel is just too short. It improves on a lot of mechanics, but moon-jumping does get tedious after a while. The classes and skills are great, and so are laser weapons.

Attached: 1555281235282.jpg (751x1063, 149K)

>BL2 may be fucked in uvhm and op levels
This attitude bugs the shit out of me. UVHM and op levels are a higher difficulty level. Of course some strats are going to fall by the wayside. And it's not even that hard. I can take just about any character, grab a Lyuda in the dust, and sleepwalk through just about any level. It's not Sekirei. TPS's endgame is just boring.
You're right about there not being enough enemy density in TPS. When you combine that with it's easier scaling, there's nothing to it. Example, the Scav arena is maybe the slowest easiest arena in the franchise. The point is, you're a total bitch.

I don't know I'm playing through Broderbund: The Pre-Cum for the first time right now and I'm having to force myself to keep playing it. I don't know what it is about the game I can't stand, I played through 1 and 2 with no problems and just played through 1 again recently for the first time in 9 years and I still had fun with it. BPS is starting to grow on me thankfully but it wasn't until I got to the Drakensburg.

>the Scav arena is maybe the slowest easiest arena in the franchise
Not him, but there's a scav arena?

>game goes out of it's way to shit on retarded environmentalists
Can't be all bad.

They hadn't really figured out the tone they wanted for the series yet so BL1 was a lot darker and grittier compared to BL2 even though it still had a lot of goofy characters and humor.

There's a lot less restrictions for gun manufacturers in BL1 which makes them all feel kind of the same, but also allows for a greater variety of weapons overall. That extra variety means in general you're going to get a lot more random guns you like when compared with BL2 where your'e more likely to just align with a certain manufacturer for their style.

All that being said all the guns look and feel the same, the locations are mostly bland, it's really awkward and clunky in its delivery of the story, and has a variety of other issues. It's still a good game, but BL2 really did give the game a massive overhaul and for me it was a little hard to go back to BL1 even if they have more interesting weapon variety.

It's DLC, but yes.

I would have said its cause you are doing normal mode but I'm assuming you did the same for 1. Maybe the game is too easy? Are you using slams?

At least it's not Borderlands 1 DLC's no fast travel bullshit.

Don't even get me started. If they could only fix 1 thing for the GOTY edition, but nooooo

>I can take just about any character, grab a Lyuda in the dust, and sleepwalk through just about any level.
Maybe if you have infinite ammo and blitz the story so your lyuda doesn't get outpaced before you can get a better one.

I really enjoy the lasers, ice, and jet packs in TPS. Shame about that plot though

>Are you using slams?
I am using them a lot more liberally now that I have a Juggernaut Oz Kit with over 1000 max damage on it.

Why did they try to kill jack in the presequel?

Side quests are terrible
The writing is terrible
Most if not all side characters are terrible with their terrible accents and annoying voices/lines
The level design is shit. It's so bad it's always better to exit the game and press continue just to teleport to the entrance.
Backtracking like there's no tomorrow.

The gameplay is great as are the set pieces and scenery. It's a shame it was all wasted on a shitty experience.

Weird, we somehow missed it despite trying to do everything there is. Oh well, scav arena sounds dreadfully boring anyhow.

>the story was the worst it could possibly be, most of the playable characters weren't interesting or fun to play as
I disagree entirely with these points. The story showing Jack going from a "hero" to a mindless psychopath was great. The characters are very fun to play as well and their stories are pretty decent too.

has some of it and has more of it. TPS is a game that was really designed for the moonbase faggots some games collect(hardcore fags who constantly whinge that the devs should add a moonbase level to it), and it shows why those faggots should never be listened to.
Mechanically it's a general improvement over two, which means you miss shit going back and re-welcome it going forwards, which explains some of your own feeling. The last thing I hated is that the devs went all fucking in on stack juggling for the skill trees - much worse about it than BL2 was - and that is just the most obnoxious shit to put up with.

Is BL2reborn still the best Borderlands experience?

>stack juggling for the skill trees
I agree to some extent since some of them are super stupid like pic related but I thought others were enjoyable enough to try and manage. The grenade stacks for a free grenade on jack2 were fun to use, and athena's element tree ones looked cool but I've never actually played her so I can't say for sure if they're worth a damn.

Attached: BorderlandsPreSequel_2019-04-15_20-10-31.png (1920x1080, 3.16M)

I wanted to install the UCP for BL2, what is the difference between the normal patch and the offline version? Do you just use the offline version if you're not playing with friends or what?

I'm not complaining about uvhm or op level difficulty. my problem with uvhm and op levels is enemy sponginess and the necessity of slag. uvhm and op levels pretty much force you to slag to kill anything efficiently. i like how in presequel you can completely ignore cryo in uvhm and still wreck shit.

>Characters were horribly off-model behaviorwise
if only there was an English phrase, often used in relation to stories and characters, to express this phenomenon

Is Gaige just easier on the first playythrough?
I've been doing a bit of the DLC so I'm overleveled for story shit, but when I go to equal leveled shit I still evaporate Badasses and Bosses way too easily.

What's your build?

I feel the same, I recently started playing Gaige and am probably over 3/4 of the way through the main story, focusing ordered chaos, with maxed out close enough ability in best friend forever. She and Axton are the only characters I haven't completed the story with, and she seems by far the easiest. Normally when I am playing through the default vault hunter mode, I can do only story missions up until Where Angels Fear to Tread before I have to do side missions to gain some extra levels, I didn't have that issue with Gaige.

But then again, she was advertised as "the class your girlfriend can play"

Attached: Gaige.jpg (1154x2114, 216K)

gauge is easy mode no skill spam
she's fun but it wears off fast
Krieg is much better to play

>uvhm and op levels pretty much force you to slag to kill anything efficiently
Well that's true. Te other thing I don't like about slag is that it doesn't fit in with the drops. There are really only a couple of handfuls of slag weapons that you actually want to use, and once you get a correct slag weapon you'd only replace it with another correct slag weapon. The problem is that most weapons come in slag, so most slag weapons are just dead weights in drops.

I like to play a low to medium anarchy sniper build with Gaige. I find it gives me a good balance of wrecking stuff and feeling like I'm using some skill. But yeah, you kind of have to find your own fun with Gaige.

Attached: its all made up.png (1016x554, 770K)

goddamn burch went full retard with tps

thank fuck they booted him

I mean, look at her

Imagine being such a fuckup that not even Gearbox wants to keep you around.

The weird thing about TPS is I distinctly remember Burch not being involved in the writing, or at the very least, not at the helm, yet it's somehow worse than 2. Did I just hear it wrong?

there's the community patch and the other one you're thinking of is probably Reborn, which also includes the CP (community patch, not the thing randy has in his usb drive) and a couple more things.
idk about TPS

A focus on her right tree with a dash of the first two perks on the left tree.

borderlands 1 had shittier legendaries which in practise translated into more varied loot and actually useful greens, blues and purples; also better scaling so good guns lasted way longer.
BL1 though lacks any kind of endgame and has only 1 farmable boss, which is why bl2 is better if you plan on being hardcore into borderlands

I can't be fucked to pick over the in-game credits, but he's publically credit as "a" writer on it, though not the "lead" writer. So it's not all on him, but there's no telling what parts are his doing either.

Nostalgia and lack of cringe compared to 3 and PS make it enjoyable for some.

How is the friendzone a misogynistic concept? That doesn't even begin to make sense. It's a literal description of what happens to people who don't hook up. Like, what the fuck?

Because there aren't any annoying as fuck pretentious characters screaming in your face every five seconds and compared to the sequels the scaling is incredible.

Thats what I thought, the idea that a potential partner doesn't return feelings but wants to remain friends? Where is the issue? Its not even a gender thing ffs

Attached: Embrace.gif (500x281, 986K)

The BL1 remaster makes almost all bosses farmable now.

uvhm is supposed to be for people who WANT to be forced to optimize their builds to the fullest. of course you cant choose to play innefficiently, you can just play TVHM for that

gaige is a beast on normal, ok in tvhm, shitty in uvhm, and absolute garbage in the op levels

maybe its because despite board memes, Burch is not the only extremely shitty SJW writer, and probably not even the worst one

Too bad it's not both burches. I can't think of a worse female VA, or perhaps voice actor period, than Ashly. and don't even try saying "durr she's gud in life is strange!11", when she's just doing a regular voice. truly, it's a travesty tiny tina is returning in 3

'Friendzone' is considered ""mysoginistic"" because it carries the implication that the woman ought to or is obligated to fuck you because you're nice to her. Mostly it's women being unable to deal with the fact the only reason people tolerate them is to fuck them.

>Slogging through BL2 on PC
>Had a complete save on 360 back in the day
>Decided to cheat on PC and make my characters high levels (50) with the intention of getting through the first playthrough quick and get to NG+ etc.
>Ended up getting bored because it was too easy
>Feel like I've ruined myself on it now
The main story of BL2 is so fucking boring, or I'm just not playing the right character (Zer0)

So how old is Moxxi

then fuck a boy

That would imply that friendzone is a concept that only exists in male/female relationships.

When you put it like that, yeah, but that's only taking into account fucking losers.

Attached: Smiff.gif (421x389, 1021K)

too old

>No Love for Battleborn
>Server based so no mods to fix everything, even a simple visual fix to lower the eye searing amount of lights and visual bloat, and fix the female faces.
>Gearbox has stopped updating it a long time ago
I just wanted to slap dudes with a cool upgrade system.
It was trash, but it was fun trash.

>The sidequests have you go re-running those huge and empty maps to pad out the playtime.

This right here. That fucking early mission where you gotta take the midget all the way back to the very top of the first map's boss level, sucking out any significance to that fight since you gotta fight the boss again. The most filler of filler quests if I ever saw one.

Still young enough to breed

>I dont know why people complained about the O2, they lasted enough, every enemy and box basically bled oxygen, and even when you ran out, damage was negligible at best

Then why even have it as a mechanic??

>even a simple visual fix to lower the eye searing amount of lights and visual bloat
Just by commercials I could tell it was gonna have more of this than trying to play pyro psycho/krieg. It put me off of it more than anything Yea Forums could post about it.
I really really really fucking hope they learned their lesson by the time BL3 comes out, but seeing how BB looked like pic related and they were all confused why it didn't sell, I somehow doubt it.

Attached: QugDY.jpg (1024x768, 246K)

She's an inbred whore who had kids when she was a teenager.

Zer0 really is kinda dull, since the only thing to really do with him is snipe.
I mean, you can make a melee build for him, but it's dogshit, and even gearbox recoginized it was dogshit since they made Krieg to be the melee character instead.

>borderlands
>grounded in reality
>ever

>endgame
Bl2 "endgame" was garbage to begin with.

The game even having one is beyond retarded already

Who are the parents anyway?

I liked low gravity, talking protagonists and lasers

So how come the legendaries in 1 can be so wildly different? I got a second hellfire about 15 levels higher than the first one, but the fire rate on it was a 1/12th of the old one making it effectively useless even if the damage was more than double.

Pretty sure there's a save convert from console to PC
Also you can find multiple save files on nexus to start TVHM (lvl30) or UVHM (lvl50) immidiately

Googling it just gets this quote from a, yes I know, polygon article:

"Anthony Burch, the lead writer on Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 and a contributor to developer 2K Australia's Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel,"

He was on the team, not lead. But he completely led 2.

The protagonists should never have been silent imo. Talking protagonists made TPS a lot more bearable - except athena, the lesbian that likes women because she's homossexual.

legendaries in 1 are usually a single predetermined rare part on an otherwise normal RNG gun, so you get some wild differences on some stuff, so some variants of the legendaries you find will be useless but some will be an Unforgiven Masher

But XDRANDUM loot is a leddit tier scam

The entire games storylines are petty nonsense. If anyone wasn't just a complete jackass none of the games storylines would have occured.

> no telling what parts
I bet my dirty salty balls he was the lead writer for every side content and side characters in TPS. The main story is actually pretty decent.

>no telling what parts

Of course not. Literally no writing credit works that way. Hell, even if the "lead" is some specific person it doesn't guarantee it'll even end as their vision either.
The taint from any single writer can be seen in just about any content. Unless, for some reason, you hire a writer only to shoot down all their ideas.

Not sure if it said who Ellie's is, but Scooter's dad is Jimbo Hodunk, so probably the same since Ellie's got all the shit going on with that family.
Her other exs were Marcus and Shank, so those seem less likely.

I don't think talking protagonists added much of anything, lasers were pretty well interchangeable with e-tech weapons, though overall I think the e-tech weapons were better since the weapons themselves were more varied. Lasers were just lasers.

Congrats, you finally understood that "moxxi has fucked every character in the game" is a running joke.

I honestly don't understand why people shit so much on moxxi. She's never setled with one husband because everyone's either a criminal or a psycopath (or a drunk like mordecai fuck the writers that ruined him). She even said in TPS the reason she dumped Jack is because behind all that hero complex, he's a absolute psycho. Reminder that Jack locked up his daughter while she was begging for mom

youtube.com/watch?v=rxxTUhjqPts

Thats a sidequest in BL2

I think you'd lose that bet, since I can't see him not being responsable at least in part for Janey and her constant dykeposting

is there a single mission where springs doesn't remind you she's a lesbian
serious question

gaige is the easiest character to break though since you can just use the Buck Up glitch

basically

>bl2 more loot, quests and generally more content
>tps better enemy scaling, no slag and has cryo

To my mind: quite a lot

Not really. Every single interaction has at least a small hint.

BL3 is ruined anyway as the games that proceeded BL1 have done nothing but ruin the loot-shoot subgenre to begin with.

Is Maya's slag orb any good in BL2? I've been playing with friends going hard on the healing but now I wanna start building into the elemental damage tree. I figure if I have a slag weapon the orb wouldn't be necessary.

Absolutely. Slag is relatively negligible during normal and 3/4ths of TVHM, but it is absolutely needed in the back half of TVHM and in UVHM

Sure but if I have a slag weapon I can just swap off and use whatever damage weapon I have, and can build more towards damage. Or is the Orb really just super strong?

Once you get down the mechanics it's easy to understand what's happening. But the visual indicators are pretty invasive, overshield, healing and speedboost all have this aura that vignettes the screen with their respective colors and can be used at the same time, which is worsened by the fact that certain characters like Toby (The penguin in a mech) have character specific hud parts.
And the battle effects look fine in a 1v1 or coop mode but team fights with more than 3 characters gets REALLY REALLY cluttered.

I got the skills mixed up, yeah, the melee override is useless, don't bother.

Gaige's robot arm is so cute, I want to hide it somewhere while she's sleeping.

Cool, thanks.

because in 1 your a bunch of friends treasure huntin and bounty huntin on a shitty desert planet that no one cares about, and in 2 you are a bunch of retards who deal with even bigger retards who spew outdated memes every 5 seconds. plus bl 2 is retarded as hell in scaling. bl 1 had 2k as the usual end game hp, and the best guns did atleast 1-2k per shot. bl 2 makes you go up to millions for no reason other then to make people get autistic over loot.

tl;dr bl 1 was better

youtu.be/AAyzKnqiK20
After playing BL2 again I had forgotten how catchy the Southern Shelf fight theme was

What kind of a brainlet do you have to be to consider anything Jack ever did to be "heroic" with or without quotation marks? Didn't he shoot surrendering people in his intro cutscene? He was a magnificent bastard in BL2, and nothing in the pre-sequel made him less of a bastard.

>Didn't he shoot surrendering people in his intro cutscene?
No, he was shooting soldiers trying to take over the station before getting punched in the face.

Because people are blaming Lilith for Jack while ignoring that she was just Moxxi's pawn, albeit a willing pawn. Before the mess in the Vault, Moxxi is trying to convince Jack and his team to remain in the Eye of Helios when it gets reactivated, with them not knowing that she intends to have them all die with it when it goes critical. It only fails because Jack doesn't fall for her claim that the Eye will be safe and leaves for the control room.

Moxxi dumped him because she knew he was a hidden monster, and Jack burning down her Underdome over their break-up confirmed it.

Not that user, but he saved the fucking moon in TPS. Thousands of people, alive because of him and vault hunters he hired.
Probably could've helped Pandora.

BL2 has a really underrated soundtrack. It's one of the only things about the game that's genuinely fucking good, without even a single "BUT".

No the shooting surrendering people happened at the end of the game, after he already went nuts. The beginning of the game portrayed him as a person who was disturbed deep down, but tried his best to be a hero regardless. For example, he was the one who petitioned that health machines be added to helios to reduce worked casualties. I would say the best example of his mixed nature is when he let's the meriff, who betrayed him go, but takes pleasure in killing him after the second backstab.

>So why isn't Borderlands The Pre-Sequel considered to be worse than Borderlands 2
Is it not? I've never met someone who liked pre-sequel more than 2. Or even liked it in general for that matter.

Again, see literally the first reply in the thread

Attached: Vriska scream.jpg (375x375, 28K)

The level design kills TPS dead.

Every single zone is designed for maximum annoyance / boredom.

The Waltzing Matilda sidequest ALMOST makes up for the rest of the game being annoying because it is actually tongue-in-cheek humor done right instead of smashing the player over the head with LULZ.

And I'm pretty sure that once he got into power, Jack oppressed Elpis just as hard as he did Pandora.

After his psychotic break, yes. That could've been avoided.

It's also immediately followed by someone telling him to shut up

Your post and mine brought up a point I hadn't considered until now and I really hope gearbox has learned that just because they can doesn't mean they should.

>Melee characters feel strong, from Phoebe's quick rapier strikes to Smashing the shit out of everything with Attikus
>Ranged characters feel different with different guns, beams and explosives.
>Every character feels unique with cool and interesting abilities, even withthe bad proportions size differences between characters is cool with sizes varying from a tiny gremlin like orendi to an ABSOLUTE UNIT like Montana
>Game is fun and engaging in coop mode, PvP is unbalanced but still fun
>Characters kinds grow on you after a while, some have genuinely funny dialogue under all the burchisms
>Literally everything else is terrible and mishandled and ruins the experience for most, wasn't enticing for those that would've probably enjoyed it in spite of its flaws.
>Updates didn't come fast enough to fix the game

Thing is, sociopathic shit like abusing his daughter happened before Hyperion came to Pandora. He'd been plotting that shit for a long time, and it's just the retarded aussies who didn't pay attention to the backstory in BL2 that tried to make him look like a hero-turned-bad.
He was nuts before anyone even canonically met him. The only change was making shit personal.

At best, Jack would be cooperative, but utterly slaughter anybody who upsetted him. He is clearly unstable, no matter how you try to paint him in a positive light.

And then posts like these make me more and more hopeless that the poster who pointed out Pickle Brick as an allusion to Pickle Rick being more and more likely.

It'd probably be Tannis that goes full Rick and Morty, with a "quirky" reference sprinkled into her Dialog.
That said Janey and Athena's Bush adventure would be funny.
>ATHENA GET THE FAKKIN' ZOOMY

That describes both of them tho

This is what the real problem with what the story is, that Jack's development is just another shitpost.

Athena has shit taste bros

In 2, parts just enhance the stats of the gun, but in 1, the parts can determine if it's utter dogshit, or will last you 15 levels. You had the misfortune of getting a thumper hellfire. That's even worse for the hellfire, since it's entire purpose is to stack DOT's. Can't stack much when you don't hit very often.

And now Janey owns the entire Catch-A-Ride franchise, so expect to see a lot of her in BL3.

Burch is no doubt laughing at how the series can never truly be rid of him.

What? Athena has the autism and shrugs off Janey hitting on her.

Janey is far more tolerable in Tales than TPS so hopefully she stays like that in 3

And in Tales, Athena admits that she loves Janey, but doesn't like having to do murdering merc jobs behind her back just to make money.

Handsome Jack's voice actor makes the English voices worth it

What is everyone's thoughts on Brick?

Borderlands 2 is too full of terrible decisions to be anything more than a generous 5/10.
>Slag
>Homing lasers and such on constructors, Ion loaders, in general enemies who's main job seems to be to break up the pacing of the gunfights (In Borderlands 1 you could engage the enemies pretty much constantly even endgame)
>Most loot being irredeemable trash, vendors selling mostly white loot (who the fuck ever bought this?)
>Scaling issues throughout the game, in addition to the much mentioned loot, they also made 75+% of sidequests redundant because once you completed 20% of what's available everything else had trivial XP, Loot, Reward and Challenge This issue is solved after you complete the game TWICE. Would have been acceptable if UVHM style missions scaling was present after the first playthrough but what kind of autism does third time take?
>Everyone is gay except the OG chars and Jack. I don't even think I'm exaggerating. Wildlife preserve mission for Tannis(?) where two minor ECHO characters (a female researcher and a male research monkey) both make reference to their homo significant other is one of the most egregious examples
>Immense amount of pointless menuing that could be avoided with more intuitive design

He and Jack are the only consistently good things.

Someone beat me to it, but for convenience's sake...

I like explosive best, and like melee carnage, so he's fun as fuck to play.
He is pretty much a psychopath though, so it's fucking weird seeing him like "NO WE'RE NOT LIKE THAT" in TPS' ending. Brick's more bandit than anti-hero - he's the sorta guy who would've gone "WELP! You gonna do it, or should I punch her?" at the execution.

>that Alita
Mother fucker needs to slow the fuck down. He was never really that great with anatomy but god damn.

Honestly random head canons are fair game considering awful writing in TPS.
My headcanon is that Janey is an insatiable sex fiend behind closed doora and has groomed the autistic Athena into her personal toy.

>get to vagina face (rakk hive)
>go into fist mode

10/10

Athena spent all that time admitting to her innocence in Jack's rise to power, and she was ordered shot anyway because she exposed to everybody that Lilith and Moxxi is to blame. Even Brick knew that was total bullshit.

Mine is that she accepted room and board, but every time Janey tried to touch her, she shoved the barrel of Athena's Wisdom up her snatch and held the trigger down. And this happened over and over and over thanks to new-u until she just got fucking tired of it and said whatever.

The deal with friendzoning is it's women telling men they are good enough to be around, but not good enough to prolong their genetic existence. It's a " I think you're alright, just not good enough to continue being around. " and when you bring this up to women it destroys the whole facade about how much empathy and feeling they have, the reality is they're children.

Oh, Jack did everything, but the assassination attempts pretty much made him snap completely. Lilith's failure was not making sure he was DEAD after she ambushed him.

Janey and Athena together is the most zero chemistry relationship I think I've ever seen in fucking anything.

Janey being gay and Athena being too autistic and emotionally stunted to do anything about her heavy handed advances is literally the only visible reason for them being in a relationship at al and the two seem more robotic than all the literal robot characters in every scene they're in together and while talking about each other throughout the entirety of TftBL. If they didn't keep saying how much they love each other the only other indication that they're in a relationship is that they were standing next to each other in Scooter's garage.

Well Anons who haven't played, who looks the best aesthetic and gameplay wise and what do you want to know? I'll give you the quick rundown on whoever you pick.

Didnt Angel accidentally kill her mother as a kid due to Siren powers or am i remembering it wrong?

All I want to know is why BL3 looks the exactly like BL2? I know it's the art style and all but it really doesn't age well.

According to Jack, but it IS Jack we're talking about and so we don't really know.

>BL2
>better main quest
>no low gravity sections
>playable characters are incredibly boring due to typically relying on one core skill
>E-tech sucks outside of very specific legendaries
>Slag ruins UVHM
>incredibly DLC campaigns

>PS
>Low gravity sucks
>Great playable characters who for the first time in the series don't rely on a single skill to be good
>no slag
>no fucking E-tech garbage
>campaign is much shorter
>Claptastic Voyage is amazing but it's only one campaign compared to BL2's multiple
>higher difficulties don't suck
It's a toss up really. BL2 has more but what PS does have is better. No one would have a problem with PS if it was advertised as a standalone expansion, which it is, instead of a full game.
>b-but the dialogue
Don't kid yourself, both games are equally as shit in that department. People shit on the Aussie bitch from the begining of the game and whine and cry about her, but BL2 is much worse with it's 2-3 fucking hours of nothing but Claptrap, Hammer Cock, and some fucking retarded bandit yipping in your ear. I'd rather have lesbianism shoved in my face over an active assault on my ears anyway
Real patricians play BL in Japanese or Spanish with no subtitles so it's hardly ever an issue anyway

Attached: 74149381_p0.jpg (1269x1525, 266K)

I want to fuck that black hole.

Just finished TftBL for the first time, the conversation where you finally end Jack for good near the end of the game was pretty neat. Are there lots of different outcomes for it? Jack seemed pretty fucking pissed right before I took out the eye but everyone always praises that scene as the best Telltale has ever done so I assume there's more to it?

Attached: 1554075647014.png (399x386, 153K)

Not really, no.

The only outcome you get to pick is either to kill AI-Jack straight-up or spare him and let him scream in agony as he remains trapped in darkness forever.

it always ends with Jack making one last go at you but depending on what choices you pick you get different angles of insight into Jack's motives and story

It's like the basedboys are just throwing whatever they want into the game just to signal to eachother with no regard to whether or not the interaction has anything to do with the plot and if it does, it's because the plot has been so unnaturally written that it lacks any good writing quality.

meant more like Jack's reaction prior to the final choice more than an actual outcome to that portion of the story, but alright. Pretty metal how Rhys just ripped out all his cybernetics right on the spot though.
Honestly expected that to be the end, rather than the massive celebratory lap with opening the vault

His reaction is the same in all cases: DON'T DO THIS TO ME, I BEG YOU!

Is there anything that Borderlands 1 did that was better than Borderlands 2?

Attached: Lilith2.jpg (250x327, 20K)

Not having to grind as much to get good drops.

The guns, knoxx dlc.

>revolvers
>not being written by you-know-who
>level scaling, and by extention guns that aren't worthless after two levels
it's not a long list but all three of these things are very important

In a word, restraint

I didn't even get the chance to play the game but it looked fun. I think the problem was trying to compete with Overwatch. There was no reason for it. They should have changed their release date, done everything in their power to market the game and show it as being as different as possible from overwatch.

I want another game like Borderlands bu in a new coat of paint that isn't dumbfuck lolrandumb xD.

Hard to say. All the BL games did some things good and others bad.

I would like to hope Gearbox will take all the good parts, filter out the bad, and make BL3 truly exceptional, but just seeing Tiny Tina returning (and the confirmation that Ashly will return to voice her) has already dashed that hope.

Can you still glitch into his armory or was that patched out?

farmory is definitely still a thing

None of the glitches were fixed at all, so go nuts in the armory.

TPS has no Krieg, so it's already objectively worse

My favorite thing about TPS is the available variety for the Vault Hunters. I feel you can honestly go down any tree and have a blast.

Presequel was an end-of-generation low-effort asset flip.

The environments were all ass and everything about the writing aside from the overall plot with Jack was absolutely terrible

What's everyone's thoughts on Borderlands 3 coming out on the Gearbox Store? Will you buy it or wait for it on Steam?

How unfortunate that Borderlands 3 isn't releasing until April 2020. At least the free demo comes out six months earlier.

This thread made me look up Borderlands porn and realize how little good porn for this game there is.

I have good memories from farming that place for pearlescent guns, fun times.

Gearbox doesn't have a store.

I haven't played tales or finished TPS but from what I understand Jack had angel working as a battery/magichackergirl for a very long time.
Nice guys don't use their daughters as a tool to gain power.

Oh shit. I meant Epic Games store.

>Nice guys don't use their daughters as a tool to gain power

It's either that or she will give her "power" to another man. Sometimes you just have to tie her up.

Psychos are really hit and miss for me
On one part you have mindless killing machines that say some sad/deep shit in between the pained screams
On the other hand lolrandum EAT UR BABIES isn't as appealing to me as it was when I was 16.

There is only one hot chick to play as and her skill set is not as good as a siren

In the Pre-Sequel, you stood around behind closed doors waiting for characters to complete their unfunny exposition before you could continue. At least Borderlands 2 let you run and keep shooting whilst the unfunny shit was going on.

Why would you not want to choose the best partner for your future?

Pre-Sequel has the best mechanics and characters overall crunch-wise, but everything else is shit.

he became a gay pirate.

Loot and base gun mechanics.

It didn't have the loot farming BL2 had, in the beginning certain named enemies had a chance to drop a specific legendary but for some reson they wouldn't respawn, so your only option was to restart the campaign. They patched that since then, but the damage was done.
Also it didn't have the amount of content BL2 had

Ok so I managed to brainlet my way into running Borderlands 2 reborn. I got the hex edit thingy working and I installed the BL2Reborn txt just flat without touching any optional shit. I see the new skilltrees and some of Axtons skills say they do different things
Is this all i need to do basically? Am I good?

The story isn't graspable, you have no idea what you're doing.
The landscape absolutely sucks, it's just the same color everywhere.

The guns aren't any better than BL2.

Dialogue sucks.
The jokes suck.

From what we've seen of the trailer the BL3 hud at least looks pretty clean

Worse writing, worse npc's, worse areas, zero gravity gimmick, much less content, less depth to skill trees. There's a few things tps does better like level scaling, cryo, and the addition of lasers but overall it's just not as good as 2.

>there's a futa version
bless this artist

it was fun while it lasted. playing support right made your team steamroll

You JUST described BL2 though?

I've been trying to play TPS but I hate all the moon jumping. I wanna replay 2 but it feels like I played it to death already and 1 I imagine isn't going to feel as good as either of them. Am I just boned bros?

How can I change my character class in 2?

BL1 is better than both of them.

How good is Axton? Haven’t played him yet.

If I were gonna play 1, I'd play Lilith cause I'm a waifushitter, and I don't find phasewalk to be a compelling ability compared to the lift or Gaige's robut.

awful. playable if you instal the Community patch.

where you change your clothes at sanctuary.

Bloodwing is a girl.

How does the community patch work? Can you play with other people?

Cos the entire game isn't DESERT

if they have the patch, yes.

It isn't better.
Gameplay wise the TPS really SHITS on BL2.
Combat all around is just way more fun.

In 2 you basically just shoot and use your ability. In TPS, even though it just changed/added a little to the formula, it made the combat 10x more fun. Flying into combat then slamming down shocking nearby enemies while activating the o2 post with the blast and then shooting a jetpack dude out of the sky with cryo so he freezes and shatters upon impact, while utilizing jump pads or shooting away their o2 shields so they suffocate is just fun as fuck. Not to mention that the skilltrees where much more fun and with more varied nodes to make things more interesting than 2 as well.

Something that gets said often is that the areas are too big, but it really only goes for the first two, and only one of them(the first) is empty. Triton flats is already more packed than most BL2 areas, and all the Highlands onwards areas in 2 are way worse in that regard.

Attached: Screenshot_2019-04-11 vg - blg - Borderlands General - Video Game Generals - 4chan.png (1873x436, 72K)

based.
i hardly play 2 anymore, but pre-sequel is always fun to jump into. the only two characters in 2 that are worth playing are gaige and krieg anyway, since their skill trees are closer to ps characters than bl2 characters.
also athena elemental build is the most fun ive ever had in these games. blasting multiple bandits with your shield like fucking xena and causing an explosion evertyime it hits plus smiting enemies with lightning when being in the air is just fucking a!

I'd say overall gaige isn't well designed. Anarchy seems well thought out but the middle tree is just bad and the left one is pretty meh. Krieg is great though.

I would say the main reason people hate TPS is that the beginning section of Elpis is aggressively bad. The level layout of that section is boring as all hell, Janey is genuinely one of the worst characters in the franchise, and the weapon selection is even worse than usual. It's not what everyone hates it for, but it primes them to hyperbolate every other issue they find in the game.

Otherwise
>Lazer is better than E-Tech
>playable characters actually speak and have personalities
>majority of abilities/trees are immediately fun to use and have team synergy
>better level design
>objectively better combat than BL2, in part due to Oz Kits
>infinitely better bosses
>gun brand identities are way more distinct and fun
>way better scaling
>vehicles play differently instead of one being an objective upgrade
Even shitty meme and reference missions typically had an extra layer of effort than they did in BL2.

I really disliked the stack mechanics. Didn't play long enough to try out all the characters.

I wish E-Tech was actually good.

>>better level design
No way. There's no enemy density anywhere in the first half of the game and the areas are way too big for their own good. I feel like I run around doing nothing for most of the time in TPS.

>>infinitely better bosses
Yeah, like EOS whose only gimmick is covering your screen in explosions forever.

>>vehicles play differently instead of one being an objective upgrade
I might've agreed with you there if you even got to use vehicles at some point after the first few areas in the game.

>Even shitty meme and reference missions typically had an extra layer of effort than they did in BL2.
There's more shitposting put into them, I'll give you that.

There's almost no other game where I actually had to mute the voice acting and just try to ignore any story content because the humor was so fucking bad. It was as embarrassing and bad as the "comedy" in Date Movie or shit like that.

If you have gibbed save editor you can just copy the save file and change the class, it will just change your character to another of the same level without having to go through the whole game again

Hunter shotguns were fun, not to mention masher revolvers which were both removed as a possibility roll in bl2 and forward.

Both are trash.

Soi have to straighten this out: do people actually hate claptrap or is it a meme?
I think he's hilarious in his ineptitude and deliberate annoyingness.

The movement is literally faster than 2.

Yes.
He's fine in 1 and TPS, but kind of a shitty meme-spewer in 2. And most people remember him from 2.

He was made to be annoying in 2.He was cute in 1, kinda like Gir, but they purposefully made him annoying in 2. He's slightly better in TPS.

Nah, the enemy density in Borderlands 2 is overstated. When it's Bandits, the extra enemies are just 1-2 extra Psychos. When it's Loaders, it's just 2-3 EXP Loaders. All the love is going towards having to push the melee key a couple extra times or back up a few steps, whoop dee fukken doo.
There's also a shitton of BL2 enemy areas that are either just
A) The same single room style
B) The same single cave tunnel style
C) A straight up flat fukken plain
I can get the fact that TPS had areas that were a bit too open, as there's more than a few that will have you jumping around, trying to pick the last red dot off your minimap, but the majority of the fights did take place in areas that were a lot more varied and fun to fight in. Even the ones that did have that failing at least start off running before faceplanting.
Plus it's not exactly the hill to die on when BL2 has absolute abortions like Highlands, Caustic Caverns, and Wildlife Exploitation back to fukken back.

what do you think

>When it's Bandits, the extra enemies are just 1-2 extra Psychos.
More like 2-3 goliaths, psychos and a shielded nomad somewhere. I started replaying 2 after TPS and I'm blown away by the amount of enemies even in the Frostburn Canyon.
Regardless, even when it is JUST a couple of extra enemies per fight, the scale of the areas emphasizes that.

>Caustic Caverns, and Wildlife Exploitation
These are actually the perfect examples. 80% of TPS felt like those areas to me. Except without cute gimmicks like growing Varkids and usually with less enemies.

>tfw no big tiddy moxxi playable character with visible cleavage from 1st person view
;_;

YES

He was a meme-spewer since BL1's DLC, especially the last one where he was INAC.

>Why is Borderlands 2 better than The Pre-Sequel

I hate to say this but it's because of better writing. Sure, BL2's writing isn't great but the writer doubled down on the unfunny bullshit and forced memes for TPS

It seems kind of weird to say for an enemy type in a shooter, but Psychos got flanderized to hell and back between BL1 and 2. Their lines no matter how ridiculous were played straight in the first game which made them equal parts funny and disturbing. In BL2 it just goes into lolsorandom he's crazy and violent.

Kreig kind of slips between the two with some of his lines. Most of which are from the raving retribution skill, which had it's dialogue cut via a patch because Anthony was being a passive aggressive cunt when someone asked him if there was an option to toggle the lines off in social media (I'm dead fucking serious). Mods like the community patch and BL2 Reborn add them back in though.

>Sekirei
