No, you're completely wrong here.
DRK is a much more durable tank when played well with the capacity to mitigate basically everything while also not sacrificing much DPS while building/melding purely for durability. That's the reason all the world-first groups use it. It doesn't need to gear for DPS, and it is far more forgiving on the healers while learning fights.

What's wrong with DRK is it doesn't do as well as the other two in farm-mode runs where everyone over gears the content due to lower DPS and requires an actual brain to play.

What could they possibly even add to BLM at this point? Both mechanically and thematically the job just feels complete. We can't really get fire/blizzard V because other languages still use the -ra/-ga/-ja naming system, and tier V -da is very rarely used. We won't ever get ultima because that spell uses magic that doesn't actually exist and is more of a plot point than a spell. As for mechanically, a BLM rotation is already so tight that there's barely any room at all for new skills aside from cooldowns.

Unlike WoW, the amount of skills ends up about the same. For every action they prune or consolidate they add a new one. The job changes on expansions are basically just about giving people new toys and attempting to revitalize the shit jobs with reworks.

The combination of the Heat Gauge and Wildfire make it micromanagement hell and incredibly rigid, as well as no way to actually control the heat gauge until 62. There's also proc based combos and ammo which seem to want to work against the job more than help it

Like if you cast cure III with three lilies, you also grant a shield or something, restore a bit of mp with assize, group esuna with medica II, temporarily prevent a target from going below 1hp with benefic? Potentially powerful effects, but you'd need to build up and plan ahead for them.

Light PF is almost identical to how it was pre split except there's less people that don't speak English.

Why it fucking sucks?
The changes pre 4.05 to heat were a bit frustrating to learn at first because it required lots of gaming, was comically punishing, and required far more effort when dealing with mechanics to do right for shit game.

Post 4.05/4.06 made heat a literal non mechanic that you essentially ignore, turned the rotation into one that overheats for every single wildfire, made rook overload as mandatory as it is unfun to engage with, and makes every MCH deal with post OH CD finagling.
The problems in both pre.4.05/4.06 heat management still exists as you have to use flamethrower to OH. FT requires weaving to do. Which by the way:

Overheating

Anybody that has played knows the asspain of cancelling but NOT OHing because the fucking server ticks

On top of being IMMOBILE weaving of a FT is affected by server ticks. This weaving on top of others causes clipping. Clipping that now feels awful because of entire CDs that are now missed including an entire WF.
The problem with rotation was made worse post 4.05. Your rotation is now rigid. Where as HW wild/mild dynamic left you pick your WF windows comfortably. In SB you WF without fail regardless of procs (as those are less important in many ways than they were in HW for tons of reasons). You do this rotation mechanically. You pick an opener based on the fight and your button presses have no variance as you try to push the exact same buttons in the exact same order from fight start to fight finish with no regard to anything that isn't a WF window jump.

You're right. Take a look at Alexander 1-4, the sync caps at ilvl 270 but the content was designed to be done at 170-180. That's a 100 ilvl gap, not even coil was this bad as the sync was only around an additional 50.

I think the problem is that they are game doesn't have a good difficulty curve. Usually games will ease in players first and then start getting more complex slowly until you end up at the endgame tier. But in FFXIV it's straight up braindead Netflix AFK watching content for more than 100 hours and then when they finally step in EX or Savage it's just a massive difficulty jump not a curve.

Who the fuck actively plays that many jobs

I was on Louisoix due to the new world bonus a few years ago when I started playing. Server just feels dead community wise in comparison to the other EU ones and doesn't really stand out on anything. There's also a big population of non English speaking players, which is fine but I just prefer English myself.

There isn't really any server that feels like it has a community anymore.

Farming for the Rathalos mount nowdays is actually impossible, i hope it gets better when ShB launches

I'm on Exodus and it feels like there's a community here. People coordinate hunts without early pulling trolling, people host community events in the housing district, and you can recognize a lot of mentors personality by name.

It's just jobs at level 70, as in, let's say you have PLD and WHM at 70, you will count once for PLD and once for WHM.
Basically, it's how many people bothered to level the job to 70. There's no active/inactive filter, just raw figures (bots excluded, but bots generally don't go to 70 anyway).

speaking of combat, I'm both scared and interested, scares that every job in a decent place is going to get fucked, interested as to whats going on with TP, I hear it's going so are they just going to use MP in it's place or make basic abilities just not take any resource at all? how will this effect TP-centric jobs?

TP right now is not really a consideration in any shape or form unless you're spamming AOE in dungeons. It feels like an outdated mechanic.

They can just make TP consuming abilities use MP instead or rework their job gauge to replace their TP gauge.

yeah I'm just wanderinf if they're deleting it or just making MP get used in it's place, though the right solution is probably a bit of both depending on the skill.
