I will play Diablo II for the first time.
Do I install the expansion now or on my second run?
What class is new player friendly?
I am old, I just had a poor childhood.
I will play Diablo II for the first time
Other urls found in this thread:
there's no reason not to use the expansion
and anything will be fine at first, things will only ramp up by the time you're getting used to the game
if in doubt just go necro and hide behind 7000 skeletons
Install the Expansion as well as it vastly improves on the base game.
I recommend you play Paladin the first time, as you have many builds to cover you (aura/heal/).
I recommend you experiment the first levels and try out stuff, but by the start of the second act re-invest your skills (re-spec potion) into several only; do not invest 1-2 points in all as you will fall flat.
Enjoy user, it's one of the best things humanity has created
Play with the expansion pack.
>tfw barely even played the expansion because 90% of your D2 playtime was around launch and never really got back into it
install expac.
also check out median XL sigma when you finish. its basically diablo 2.5
>Barbs dead
melee builds aren't beginner friendly he will get annihilated by duriel
play a good game instead. like diablo 1
I don't think there's a new player class friendly unfortunatelly.
They are all viable classes to beat the game but you can fuck yourself up with shitty builds if you can't respec your skills.
Choose whatever class you think like the most uot of their description. Sometime during Act 3 or 4 you'll find out if you've screwed your build o no. But don't sweat it, it's the part of the learning curve the game has. With skill synergies and shit.
the expansion is just more shit, start with it
any caster is going to be smooth to start and get into hell difficulty to farm some real shit, that's sorc, necro(dude can and does clear hell naked for shits and giggles every other week), trap assassin, or druid. The others are fun, but need more gear, more specific gear, and more effort to work around immunities than
>train better fire balls
>also train better chilly balls
necro and druid barely even care about immunities
paladin is the worst, you fucking fagget
Contrary to what everyone says, don't play skelemancer
Letting mobs do the job isn't really fun
Other than that pick whatever looks cool, everything is viable until Hell difficulty
i know, that's why he should play it first
level 20+ CE is probably the most satisfying skill
sorc is just the best though, druid comes close, but she's just too fucking fine
shame frozen orb got killed by synergies, I loved that skill
OP:
>I'm gonna play for the first time
Retard user:
>farm gear in hell
You know nothing about the game
First of all, you can respec for free once per difficulty
Any half ass build will beat normal with no problems, most build beat nightmare
Hell is where it gets tricky for new players and untwinked characters, melee without good gear is borderline unplayable in hell
Sorc / elementad druid are still good, but they are weak to start with so not the best for a beginner
Skeleton necromancer is the class to go for a first times, easy start and beats hell without gear no problem
>median XL
I really want to like this, seems like the perfect chance to get back into D2 but it looks so spammy; it completely breaks the atmosphere of the original game
>Hammerdin shit
Git gud
Install the fucking expansion now
I'm pretty sure the expansion doesn't do anything until you finish the base game so just install it now.
install the expansion
play assassin with life leech
get that one claw runeword that gives you whirlwind
stack +to barbarian warrior skills charms
???
break game, greentext about it on 4chin
It adds Runes and more drops
>2 new classes
>more storage space
>800x600 instead of 640x480
>completely changes some items
>adds jewels and runes
>changes a bunch of shit here and there
diablo 2 v1.0 without the expansion is an unplayable mess of a game. do not under any circumstance play this
also -act5 launch parameter if you wanna go straight into nightmare difficulty after a few hours furiously gridning gear
Do the expansion and do a paladin.
Do people still play this?
>Godly drop game with endgame items
>With pickit installed
he's gonna get there, and casters don't have any real roadblocks until then
they are much smoother at low levels and with crappy gear
given the low amount of interesting (and moderately viable) builds, I've mostly lost interest myself
most of the more modern clones (and even D3) offers so much more many ways to play
D2 is still nice in term of the overall atmosphere but I don't see myself replaying it forever given I'm always doing things I already did before
You just click. Every class in braindead.
Thanks for your help. I am still trying to fix the color.
Barbar and Necro getting rekt while a hammerdin casually teleports onto the scene with enigma
must've been an ali baba hork shitter
>barb ded
>necro finna get it
>javazon and sorc hiding
>probably put all her points in telekinesis
>big dicc pally coming in to straighten this mess out
Looks about right
Actually pala was back to town to repair his gear and the retard forgot to use the correct tp.
>there are people on this board RIGHT NOW that play anything other than IK barb
Is Druid good?
I wanna be a werebear.
single player every fire skill user (sorc, sin, druid) with leaf (tir ral) is easy mode
and super fun
Yes
Bear is shit.
>I wanna be a furfag with no AoE
Install expansion, it's a straight upgrade.
As for classes:
Barbarian - Easy early on but hard later
Amazon - Good all around, if you don't mind being careful and keeping distance
Necromancer - Summonancer is probably the most noob-friendly build in this game.
Paladin - Hard if you go melee, OP if you go with hammers
Sorceress - Same as barb but even more intense. Early game is a cakewalk but Hell difficulty will rape you with immunities.
Druid - Don't have much experience with this one, i'm guessing he's either like the barb or sorc depending on your build
Assassin - Probably the hardest class to play
>Novamancer
Are they good?
Even if the pally took a wrong turn somewhere he'd be back in the action with his stylish as fuck archon plate enigma, swinging a maelstrom of hammers over his head absolutely running a train on every enemy without even having to click them. Literally carrying the whole team on a 0-99 Baal run lobby without even realizing it
Yes. The only problem is not having poison nova until lvl 30
Is D3 dead and buried? I was hoping for a druid PC when they added the necro.
Do all 1920x1080 resolution mods increase the enemy aggro range?
Frozen orb/meteor/fireball sorc is kinda nice for SP, and if you bump into fire and ice immune just static its ass and let merc finish the little health that's left.
median is fun for about 2 days, then you hit level 120 and it turns into shit with gimmick fights and dumb 1shots
I fucking hope.
just supersample the game to 1600x1200
you'll need nglide
>Assassin - Probably the hardest class to play
even full martial arts she's OP
if you go traps everything just dies
>then you hit level 120 and it turns into shit with gimmick fights and dumb 1shots
Including the endgame content? Shit I thought it was already a 1shots game all the way till 120?
Maggot lair is the hammerdins weakness without a nigma.
Expansion fixes every problem that the original had
there's some bullshit while leveling but I'm 121 atm and every 120 zone is basically a death every 30 seconds
and I get 0 upgrades from level 115 zones so I have to drag myself through that shit to progress
