when cringe kills a series
>slightly bumping your APC into infantry out of the camp so you can capture it yourself
I don't know if they should remove this particular mechanic
VC2 didn't kill the series though. Thankfully.
I remember in VC1 some missions had tanks parked on control points.
But then again, it's not something the aforementioned Demolition Order can't take care of.
I liked using mortar lancers to just walk up and bomb stuff. Did aiming mortars at a tank's weak point work well in 1 & 4?
There were no grenadiers in 1, unless you're talking about the other Lance upgrade branch. The latter had like no vs armor damage.
Mortaring tanks works really well in VC4, thanks to the Anti-Tank mortar upgrade path also being the high(ish) accuracy upgrade path.
I didn't realize how op anti-tank grenadier mortars were until I tried to demo-boost a shocktrooper into Vulcan's 'weak spot' only to realize its not in the back but in the front with the gatling turret. I'm only at chapter 8 so gonna see if I can make Lancers work since I used them a bit in 1
>He thinks grenadiers are the one who make lancersir relevant
oh sweet child
>take best twin
>give her the +15 accuracy item to turn Dunkel into an evem more broken weapon
>you now have a lancer with a sniper's accuracy, the dodging capability of a shinobi and the AP of a scout
>I'm only at chapter 8
>Vulcan's 'weak spot' only to realize its not in the back but in the front with the gatling turret
I'm only at Chapter 7 myself. But at this point you already fight Vulcan twice. How didn't you notice that? Aside from the flame decals, the radiator being on the top is its most recognizable feature.
Lancers have the best head to head anti-armor damage, and they can team up with each other for double or even triple damage per CP. But most of the time it's easier to just run up to the radiator with a shocktrooper or even a scout and demolish them with the order.
And in VC4 you don't even need to run up to them, because AT grenadiers can just snipe them from across half the map.
I'm not using (or buying in the first place) p2w DLCs.
At least not until they're on sale.
I wouldn't talk about p2w since by the time you reach paragon for all classes you already broke the game clean in half, between Raz, Kai and Minerva, you are already whiping the floor with anything the game thrown at you.
That said, the two valkiryas are definitely broken, the twins on the other hands I would consider a sidegrade since they lack the grenade launchers of normal scouts, another combo that is full of gigles is also Minerva with the item+1 charm, two rifle grenades is pretty broken paired with scout mobility.
to suffer.
Haven't unlocked Minerva yet, but I'm guessing she will be the key to A-ranking those missions that I haven't yet on the first playthrough. The Direct Command on a Scout is going to be OP as hell. (At least on the maps where Cactus is not available)
VC1 is the game with the flying pig mascot, the teenage idol soldier and the beach episode included in the base game though.
The first time Vulcan showed up I just ignored him to get to the point. The second time he showed up, he decided to immediately drive next to the camp I just captured and set the path on fire. After Lily died trying to demo boost shoot Vulcan, he ordered a mortar strike on both camps and the operation went FUBAR. The whole run surprised me a bit and I forgot some things during the whole ordeal
Yeah, the real use of Minerva's direct comand is to get either an assault squad toguether which works well enouh or more importantly to move snipers and grenadiers around, if you play well, you can hammer any points of the ennemy lines within the first turn using that strat, I know the Vulkan still remembers.
Use minerva or alicia as a scout leader because they have double movement buff and has a chance to heal. Use alicia to escort crymaria and the white twin to destroy infantry and capture camp. And use minerva to bring selvaria and the choco twin to capture camp guarded with heavily with tank.
I gave Iifa an AT mortar, while leaving the other grenadiers AP mortars, just in case something like this happens, and I was right to do so. Destroyed the Vulcan the turn it spawned, and then cleaned the map from the Imps the next turn. Didn't even have to wait 4 turns to defend the camps.
Speaking of which. What weapon upgrade paths do you use for your soldiers?
I generally gravitate to accuracy, because I always go for headshots anyway.
Again, I'm not using the DLCs.
So far I've been going the balanced or middle for most units except lancers and grenadiers. I have 4 Lancers on standby usually with half using mortars and other half using lancers. For grenadiers I have Riley and Aoife as anti tank with Connor and Jascha as balanced or anti personnel. I should use scouts more but I've been more or less trying to sweep everything before moving forward though replaying missions with driving the APC through everyhing is fun
I'm already doubting my decision to use the AP mortars at all. Since the standard ones can usually oneshot most infantry, especially if you land a headshot. The increased damage and explosion radius don't really make up for the dogshit accuracy.
After the first game, I'm actually trying to use Scouts LESS in VC4.
It amazes me that even four games in this franchise has such little depth or complexity to its battles and mechanics, It is so heavily exploitable to the point to where I'm not convinced the designers had any idea what they were doing. It's also obnoxiously shallow.
>cringe posters
I dont know why, but sometimes my grenadier mortars dont one shot despite the game saying it will. Sometimes I have to slightly move the reticle next to the target and sometimes I dont. For this reason I go specialized instead of balance most of the time to save me some trouble though its a hassle when you bump into infantry and tanks together in range.
In case you didn't know, here's how aiming and accuracy works in this game.
All weapons can either shoot with surgical precision and zero deviation and land right in the center of the crosshair.
Or they can go off course and land anywhere near in the red circle.
Higher accuracy makes the red circles smaller, so even "missed" shots will land generally in the desired spot. And I believe accuracy also lessens the chance of the shots "missing" in the first place, not sure though.
It's the same with mortars. So when you aim square for their head, if it doesn't "miss" it will count as a headshot and do a ton of bonus damage, and likely oneshot any enemy. But if it misses, it lands somewhere in the red circle. Being an explosive it has AoE, so it will likely still do good portion, if not full damage. But not always, and especially not when it comes to the stationary turrets. Which are weird armored class enemies, but human models which you can headshot.
They will always exist on Yea Forums, it's their duty to make sure everyone knows they enter threads they don't like and cringe. That's how they affirm their existence after all.
How does the Switch version of VC4 hold up? Might wind up grabbing it soon.
>hold up
It doesn't.
The frame rate suffers a little when snow effects are present but nothing to annoying, overall a great game to play on the go and a game where not ahving 60 fps isn't that much of a concern.
I'm a brainlet, I assumed mortar circles for grenadiers were showing the AOE effect
Compared to what modern TTB games?
I stopped playing after completing the story, are the DLCs worth it to come back?
Complete noobcakes here. I’ve been playing the shitty p2w sega candy crush game, and it has someone named Alicia Meloncraft or whatever. My desire to know more has intensified. Where do I start.
Would be nice if they covered that whole area, but no. It's just the maximum possible deviation.
Go get the true ending at least
VC2 was the best game though.
Eh, I did all the squad stories but I don't feel like farming weapons so I can get a 15 second cutscene tacked on at the end.
All you need is to unlock the "Steamy Ceasefire" episode and then beat final boss again but on a harder difficulty to get it, though.
VC1 is Alicia's game.
Is there a good forum outside of Yea Forums to also discuss VC? I love the series and I avoid spamming it to not incur wrath but I wish I could talk about it more.
I did try the final mission on hard again but what weapon Aoife had that two shotted the radiators before was doing crap damage in the hard version.
Now what game is this?
Then just use command all defense and bring raz, fleurent to destroy a tank with penetration order and troop camping in bunker with the flamethrower.
Give her the AT Mortar, pump her with Explosive Boost, Demolition, Penetration, Attack Weak Spot and aim at dead center of the tank.
That's exactly what I did the first time through
DAINANA SHOUTAI SHUTSUGEKI SURU
VC5 when?
Yaa.
Not any time soon.
I've been playing it and not really noticed any issues. Sharp as fuck in handheld mode. A little softer docked but overall the presentation holds up fine. It's a game where a sub-native resolution and/or framedrops don't really harm it in presentation or play fortunately.
This will be my first VC game, and the only other SRPG I played was Fire Emblem. What to expect?
I don't know why you would start off with 4, should play 1 first desu
What is this?
The daddy of VC
But what geimu is it? I only see nip links.
A game that is pretty easy to break. Orders are far too strong for what they do so if you want a challenge don't use orders
Pink tree battles
I love it, and the scout abuse. You're being rewarded for understanding and making use of game mechanics.
I do think that they make the game a bit too easy though, but they shouldn't fix it by removing features, they should just make stages that consider that kind of stuff.
And no I don't mean the retarded cheap shit in 3.
frontlinejp.net
I don't know why people keep mentioning it in VC threads though. Each of the games is half dating sim and a load of QTE/minigames, and the whole series is supposed to be dump 80's camp with funny poses and saturday morning cartoon hijinks.
A lot of discussion about the new game I've been seeing around here makes it seem like the majority of people have no idea what the fuck the series is about and are expecting some hardcore steampunk tactics sim when it's actually closer to Idolmaster "say the right things to the girls so their power levels go up and then one-sidedly wreck all opposition".
I've heard the VC team is working on it.
I idiotically thought the previous games didn't have a port/emulatable on PC. I guess I'll play those first.
Also damn it has a big filesize for an old game.
Well the PV looks nice at least.
VC1 port for PC was a huge hit, after the original PS3 version became a cult classic.
2 and 3 are on PSP, but had poor sales, so 3 didn't even get an official English translation. There are fan translation projects though.
I haven't played 4 but I want to fuck that brown loli
>loli
She's 20.
It does and I'm looking forward to it but a lot of people seem to be expecting it to be something that it very obviously won't.
I mean fuck read the plot synopsis in that link, as if the setting wasn't silly enough to begin with they're throwing in fucking G Gundam for good measure.
>direct command a scout to move another scout
>cross the entire map with 2 command points
by the end I'm pretty sure I only ever used scouts and grenadiers
those 7 shot special drop rifles were so stupidly good
You mean Imperial Ace weapons?
Do you still need those for the achievement?
>Why do Lancers exist again?
Lancers is basically their world's version of rocket launchers and mobile mortars.
>mobile mortars
There's a dedicated class for those in 4.
The point is - gameplay-wise, Lancers are pretty much the least effective class at killing a tank.
At least as long as the tank has an exposed radiator.
no the A10R
The Royal weapons you get for A-ranks? Or what? You called them "drops".
Speaking of which, funny how those still have the "R", despite the Federation not being a monarchy like Gallia.
