I used my magnum to take out the sewer monsters by fanning the hammer and running backwards from them. I've been completely stocking up on .44 ammo every time I finish a quest because it's the only non melee weapon I use and it has a pretty decent damage output.
For the record, I beat Ming Xiao by going apeshit on her with the bush hook, constantly buffing myself with Celerity. I'd chop off as many of her tentacles as possible, step away from her, switch to the katana, and chase down the spawn before they could grow to full size - then repeat the process. It was incredibly tedious and time consuming but goddamn did it feel good to deliver the final blow.

I did the same thing on a playthrough early this month. The hubs are way too big and you do way too much walking back and forth. I would have quit if I had to walk from one end of downtown to the other at normal speed.
