If I wanted to get into Horror games, which ones would you recommend?

Dead Space 1 & 2 (definitely skip 3)
F.E.A.R and F.E.A.R 2
Definitely some of my best memories when it comes to horror games.
This especially skipping 3 part
Also Resident Evil 4, which is very different than RE1 and RE2. Its like playing a B horror movie video game, so its not really scary outside a few parts but is very fun.
Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3 are great. 4 is really different but also good. SH3 is a direct sequel to 1, while 2 and 4 stand alone. Any SH games past that should be met with caution.
Fatal Frame is also a great series.
Elvira is fucking 70
Dino crisis
If you didn't like RE you're not gonna enjoy SH unless you play 3 or 4. You don't like map checking it sounds.
>dino crisis
Wasn't this scrapped?
Fatal Frame series. Two is the best, but any of the first three are great.
System shock 2
>I tried RE1 and 2 (not the remakes) but i didn't like them very much
Why?
>was gonna try Silent Hill but dunno if start with 1 or 2.
Definitely play them, and start with SH1.
The story is quite linear, and the way the games' design and visual progress also make it easier to digest in release order.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
DON'T use W10's own virtual disc app! Don't install under C:\Program Files\ !
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.

Follow the SH2 widescreen fix site's instructions to the teeth, and you should be fine.
For 3 & 4, check the Guide.
>Protips:
Play the games in release order, and don't play on Easy mode.
Multiple playthroughs per game is very recommended.
Lower the in-game Brightness, crank up volume.
Turning OFF flashlight helps a ton!
>other game recommendations:
-Scratches
-Fatal Frame -games
-Penumbra: Overture & Black Plague
-Afraid Of Monsters: Director's Cut
-Cry Of Fear
-Condemned: Criminal Origins
-Resident Evil REMAKE
-Underhell: Chapter 1
Honorable mentions: STALKER trilogy, FEAR 1 + Expansions.
Clock Tower 3
best game for beginners while also being somewhat interesting even if it gets a bit too whacky.
Also Elvira was hot.
I still would.
Fatal Frame series are the only horror games I've played that have actually scared me, like not being able to go to the bathroom at night sort of scared.
>-Scratches
I got stuck in this, what am I doing wrong?
I saw something crawl under the boiler, but after that it was as if I had triggered some event too soon or something and I just couldn't move on from then.
>-Penumbra: Overture & Black Plague
I LOVE these games! Why didn't you include the third game? I never managed to force myself through it, after some hideous wall jumping nonsense part. Is the story great enough to play through the third?
Damn, she must not eat anything she likes and practically live at the gym to look that good at 70.
I'll throw a rec in with Forbidden Siren.
Scratches was awesome.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Memes aside, it's decent and it's how I've gotten a few friends more into horror games.
Like fine wine.
She is still hot as fuck. Seen her a few times at Knotts Berry farm Halloween haunt.
>Why didn't you include the third game?
Because it's kinda shit, and not obligatory at all for the story.
The tl;dr tale is that Frictional was very unsure of Penumbra's chances for being successful at all, so they shrunk what was originally planned to be a trilogy, into just two games, ending the main plot in part 2.
Now we know that the games were mega successful, which took even the devs by surprise, so they tried to milk more out of their franchise. The end result was this... poor-man's Portal ?
Damn straight, there are women in their 40s that don't look that good.
Isn't fear something more akin to a shooter rather than horror? Oh but getting the upgrades does mess with you abit.
I would definitely play Dead Space for horror.
It sucks Elvira was in a time before widespread high resolution photography.
I've come across so many pics that are ruined by being made for fucking ants. If you can't make out the texture in the nylons then whats the point?
Also this but I liked 3, but I feel the planet-side bit should have been a standalone, Thing-esque game.
Pic unrelated.
>poor-man's Portal
Exactly the vibe I got off of it, too!
Which is a damn shame as I really loved the two original games!
To this day I still can't figure out if I preferred the first for its initial shock'n awe, or the sequel for taking away weaponry and turning me into a shivering mess.
The (humanoid) monsters in the second game, however, should've been left out. damn I wish the third had been great..
>tfw can't find a torrent of her second movie
Yeah it's an FPS with tonnes of guns.
But that won't save you from crapping yourself and sit on needles through the ending. More so than Dead Space, at least.
Collaboration when?
I highly recommend the original Clock Tower along with the spiritual followers NightCry and Remothered.
Try the Horrorsoft games, not really horror, more gore, and actually pretty good.
I'd still give her my cummies.
It sucks that she was cancelled for no good fucking reason, her released just as the distribution company for it collapsed and because of that it didn't make any fucking money in spite of doing well in the theatres it did managed to get into.
REmake 1 is great
SH1 is great
SH2 is also great, but is a much weaker horror game
Darkwood is a recent horror game that's great.
Or, she gets exercise by getting fucked daily and keeps her skin toned by taking facials.
this is what I choose to believe
>those hands
ugh
Be nice; his skin is gone.
>that one episode of Xplay where Elvira gave tips on horror games in general
>To this day I still can't figure out if I preferred the first for its initial shock'n awe, or the sequel for taking away weaponry and turning me into a shivering mess.
Still juggling between the two myself after a decade and half. I think both are great games, though 2nd is arguably more fine-tuned.
Personally I consider them far superior to the Amnesia & SOMA games, which I just considered blatant downgrades in comparison to Penumbra.
>The (humanoid) monsters in the second game, however, should've been left ou
Can't agree with you there.
so are her boobs real or what
>horror game makes you afraid of opening the next door to progress
You must have great taste, for you speak my mind.
Got any other titles you could recommend?
She has no scars so yes.
>Got any other titles you could recommend?
I pretty much shot my load off already in Haven't really found any amazing horror games in a while now. It's all jumpscare-fest walking sims or shooty-tooty horror action trash nowadays.
Fortunately, the classics tend to have tons of replay value.
Fair 'nuff. Thanks man.
elvira is vidya
>she will never be the mother of your children
MOMMY PLEEEASE
damn
Man, why didnt elvira get a point n click game? Shes still a funny lady for as sexy as she looks, even in 2019 @ 68.
Thanks for proving that Yea Forums is still cool enough to have an elvira thread at like 2am.
Any anons played Witch Hunt?
is rule of rose worth playing?
Elvira was my first crush as a small boy and the first woman I remember ever having a boner too.
I watched that shitty B-movie of hers on VHS weekly. I was facinated by her body and all the ways it jiggled and bounced well before I could comprehend why.
She shaped my perception of femininity well into my adult years, and 2019 women fail to compete.
It's not fair.
me on the left
I'm surprised people here remember her
user, I've forgotten a lot of things in my life.
But I will never forget those milky white flesh orbs struggling to stay contained.
good to know
How could I forget video games.
youtube.com
If I had the money to I would make another Elvira video game.
There isn't enough of her.
Only people about our age or older remember. She truly was a one of a kind lady.
Remember when she was on the mario bros super show, not once but twice? I miss the 80s.
it was a different era
>Remothered
this looks pretty good i'm digging the protag's jodie foster vibe
Yeah but combat is shit
But it's not scary.
I would still have a child with her.
thanks for the nostalgic fap
Pretty fine.
White Day
American McGee's Alice
DMC1
>I tried RE1 and 2 (not the remakes) but i didn't like them very much
How so? They're pretty much the essential survival-horror titles. I do still recommend playing 3 and REmake (1).
>Was gonna try Silent Hill
Good idea, though I fear that if you didn't enjoy RE1-2, you may not like SH too much either, no matter the vastly different tone and atmosphere.
Obviously, the release order is the best order. You definitely should also replay each of the games a couple times minimum before jumping to next one.
While at it, check out the first Dino Crisis.
>go out with a chick
>fall in love with her mom
Condemned is better if you're in for horror.
Really? I felt so sad for many ghosts I didn't feel threatened for the most of the time. Those screensaver things were really creepy tho, pity for anyone that played the games and missed those.
FEAR's great action game with some meh horror.
F2 is just super meh in every way compared to the original.
