Modding's all fine and good but I can't return to Skyrim until someone comes up with a proper combat overhaul. I've tried several mods like Ultimate Combat or Wildcat, but the core one-button-whack-spam feeling of the base game still remains. They only ever add some minor things you barely notice in combat like more stamina drain or locational damage, but it doesn't make the combat anymore tactical, because either everyone dies with 2-3 hits or has insane healthpools like in vanilla.

The best parts of Skyrim are not the combat, it baffles me that so many people have spent countless hours trying to polish that turd. Skyrim is about the exploration, world, lore, and adventures and finding shit and stumbling into weird quests while on other weird quests.

Waifu titty mods make so much more sense to me than combat mods. I don't find any point installing mods outside of quest/environmental/visual/audio/UI ones.

Thinking of modding up a VR playthrough again this summer. Anyone know how easily compatible Oldrim converted mods are with VR? Having that second degree of separation from Old -> Se -> VR worries me.

I tried getting into sex mods, so obviously I went to loverslab. Problem is, even the most basic animation stuff has like 15 other mod as prerequisits and each of those have like 20 different versions and each version only works if you install like 3 other third-party programs, and each program requires you to download another 10 mods to work properly and then you need to find the right plugins for each mod and then the community patch and the loverslab framework, and the patch for the framework.

So I gave up and just stuck to big titty bodyslides and bikini armor. It's as close as it'll get.

SE and VR are basically the same version, only the VR version is slightly older. It basically doesn't matter, it just means you need to use a special build of SKSE. Any oldrim mods that still work in SE should work in VR.

On the 2nd level while rescuing ‘rines, I’d go to that big rock formation and just let all the dropships deposit covie troops. Nobody who's working on OpenMW cares about spending time on MWSE compatibility obviously.
If someone cared enough they could make them compatible, just nobody cares because the possibilities that will come from fully reverse engineering the code and, eventually, breaking all hardcoding, will be far greater than anything that MWSE made possible.

Just use the original Morrowind with the expansion.. is literally the same, but with all the mods available.

They're basically reprogramming the entire game from the ground up. It's not that they don't want to support Script Extenders in the future, it's that they have to finish the framework for their open sourced Morrowind project first, it is a massive undertaking, especially considering these are just modders who do it for free in their spare time.

I've never had a gaming pc but I played the shit out of this on 360 back in the day, and last year, I bought a ps4 after a five-year hiatus from gaming and my gf got skyrim for herself. The VR version isn't really any harder to mod, so if you have it, why not? The laziness of the port means that almost everything is compatible desu. Just don't go too overboard on graphics mods because even Skyrim can stress a GPU in VR

If you use UUNP on SE you'll have to convert/update every armor mod yourself. Mesh cleaning and resave the CK for each and every armor mod. About 3 minutes each.

If the mod isn't on the list you have to try it yourself.

I've played probably 1000 hours of modded skyrim and here's how I've "fixed" the combat for each of the 3 playstyles

First install a perk overhaul like ordinnator and then:

>Archery/stealth
This one needs the least work to fix. Install a tweak that makes stealth harder. Install sneak tools if you want stealth to be more realistic, but do note it is somewhat overpowered unless you tweak enemies to be stronger because it lets you 1 hit stealth kill at any level.Just install as many mods as possible that tweak stealth, and pick pocketing and lockping. Install SkyrimSouls so that lockpicking is real time.

For this one, you want to install as many spell packs as possible to turn the game into a spell playground. Apocalypse spells and colorful magic are the biggest. Apocalypse spells is more professional but a bit too balanced some times. A lot of the spells in it are really complex and gimmicky. Colorful magic was made by a jap modder and adds in a fuck load of crazy spells but a few are overpowered a bit. You will have dozens of hours fucking around in these 2 mods alone as a mage. Install a necromancy mod if you go that route, theres several. Magic chars are really fun in modded skyrim.

Oh boy, why do you need to play a character like this for the 100th time. Install Ultimate combat, and any combat tweaks that look fun. AVOID mods that make the combat based around stamina, that is usually antifun. Try requim if you want a hard game. Install skyrimsouls so you can't potion chug every battle. I highly reccomend you add another gimick to your character, like doing a vampire/warrior because having something more than just raw combat to do really spices up the game. Consider playing a magicc character first if you havent.

I never got why past mod packs get taken down? Like you could just keep re-uploading them, it's not like they're going to go as far as to hire a lawyer and even if they do they'll get fucking slammed in court since it's not really their property because most of them use assets from Skyrim. For those that don't know, Nexus is working with the Automaton team to allow for a modpack system with automatic downloads, so in the near future anons could make some starter packs and we could use Automation for a quick and easy install.

Tmpossible, you need to account for not only obvious shit like skyboxes and weather and textures but the different textures of each region, each town, the shading of indoor and outdoor areas, the flora in each region, armors, weapons, the people themselves, unironically the list goes on and on, making Skyrim look good is a task.

The new modpack Ultimate skyrim, modders think they should be the ones to decide where a mod gets re-uploaded else it's "mod theft", but their egos are so fucking inflated they think their words alone is enough to scare people from doing it. I could re-upload a shitload of mods from my directory to my own domain and realistically there isn't a fucking thing they could do a bout it. They can bitch and cry about it but they know that those assets aren't really "theirs" and if they went to court they'd be laughed out of the fucking room. This seems to be exclusive to Bethesda because mod packs and starter packs for games is nothing new, it's just new to Skyrim. I already said this but DOOM, IL-2, and Dwarf Fortress have overhaul compilation from a bunch of figures in the modding community and everyone in those communities actually care about the community and not the popularity contest that comes with it.

Yeah, I won't deny that it can be very hit or miss. But for the most part, the quests are really good, especially the Blood of Kings questline. The biggest problem with the quests is that a lot of them won't start until you do some very specific stuff that often isn't very intuitive. Luckily, there's a guide for each quest that lists its prerequisites.

Get LOOT. when you're done installing just run loot and it'll automatically sort your shit for you and let you know if you've fucked up anywhere.

It's not just about what order you install them in. In some cases, you might have to do an extra step to get certain mods to work together. Mod Organizer makes this easier, because you can actually move mods up and down in its interface to decide which mod's assets will take precedence over another mod's assets. I recommend watching Gopher's Mod Organizer tutorial videos. He walks you through everything and explains how everything works.

You can't buy the DLC individually anymore. The only way to get it is to buy either SSE or the Legendary Edition of Oldrim. Or just pirate the DLC, which is really easy to do.

Just get SSE, its significantly more stable.

ENB was good in oldrim cause it increased the max RAM the game could use. In SE it adds a couple post processing effects, but post processing effects are mostly shit.
