Hey Yea Forums, what are some good games for the 3ds? I'm trying to decide between bravely second and EO4/5. Does anyone have some recommendations? I've already dumped hundreds of hours in MH4U and Animal Crossing and I need something else that I can play for a while.

EO games are only like 40-60 hours, they don't last as long as monhun unless you replay them

EOIV has a demo that lets you transfer the data to the full game so if you like it, you can buy it and continue from where the demo ends, so give it a check.

All EO games are good, if you are into dungeon crawlers. If it’s your first in the series I would recommend 4. If you want something to spend some time for, EO’s got you covered. You’ve got the Fire Emblem games too, Awakening and Fates seems to be enjoyed mostly by newcomers so there’s that. If you like RPGs, there’s Devil Survivor 1 and 2, SMT 4 and Apocalypse. Alliance Alive is kinda good too. 7th Dragon was fun.

You should also definitely check both Kirby games, Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot (in that order preferably), both are amazing games and the latter is definitely a top 3 best Kirby game.

If you're going to play on the 3ds instead of emulating, V is better, because IV is kind of slow. V is also harder.

V definitely has more QoL improvements since it came two games later after IV, between those you have the remakes, Untold 1 and 2. But I'll be honest with you, I believe that EOV is a love or hate game, personally I have a lot of issues with that game and I'm not the only one who has declared in EO threads that they dropped it around the third stratum because it simply never clicked and it constantly goes between enjoyable and very frustrating (and not in the difficulty, but in how Master Classes, the new stat scaling and the SP costs work), which I ended retaking and finally beating the main game after several months. It also has a demo which covers until Lv10 and to the end of the third floor, iirc, so you can also check if and transfer data to the full game if you want.
Regarding Nexus, is a celebration of the franchise so personally I'd never recommend it as a first game, pretty fun but you might not appreciate many of its returning stratums and characters unless you played the older games first.

Fantasy live 100~ hours of pure content even more with DLC, try 7th Dragon III the game is real nice.

Nexus is pretty disappointing overall, most of the content is rehashed from 1-4 and all of the new dungeons use the same tile set.

5 is my personal favourite and 4 is near the bottom for me. Subclassing gives you more customisation on paper but in practice it's only good for passives and one class has far stronger passives than any of the others in terms of attackers. 5's system has every option be useful with the right team synergy

V has hard new game bad syndrome on Yea Forums. The only real problem I have with it is that the story got botched by the shitty localization, but it's not a dealbreaker by any means.

Pretty much the "here boys, EO is going away for a while, so we're giving you all the fucking ideas we had in store, have fun".
Extremely long, so many things to do, a gorillion classes, pretty much the best EO on the gameplay side, but the price is that there are really few new things, rehashes everything that could be rehashed, hell they used the same textures for FOUR different dungeons, then they reskinned those textures on a blue theme and said "yup this is the final dungeon", and then changed the color to purple and said "and this is the post game dungeon!".
So Nexus is the last etrian odyssey to play. One of the best imo, but can be liked only after enjoying the entire road that brought that game to life.
