anyone got the link to those difficulty hacks for golden sun 1 and 2? I wanted to play them for the first time with the difficulty hack in tact, as I do for all rpgs I play. Chrono trigger was significantly improved with the difficulty hacks on top of it, I went back recently and played vanilla and it's a fucking snoozefest.

There are only 3 games, and honestly, the first two are pretty much 1 game imo. Then there's Dark Dawn which you can play, just keep in mind it's a bit worse than the older games cause of some stupid decisions (mainly Points of no Return resulting in missable Djinn and even lower difficulty).

My questions why can't anyone seem to make a Mario Golf that's as good or fun to play as the original GBC release?

Golf Story on Switch ALMOST captures the magic but you have to buy a goddamn switch just to play it.

Start with "golden sun" on gba, then play "the lost age" also on gba, then finally dark dawn. golden sun and the lost age were conceived as 1 game, but ended up being developed and published as 2, though the story still functions with them as one game. dark dawn is set many many years later.

Am I the only person that prefers GS to Lost Age? I couldn't bother to finish Lost Age stopped right before the Mars temple while completing GS multiple times. Nothing will beat Colosso for me.

I never understood the djinn system as a kid, like it took me HOURS to figure out what djinn combos gave certain psy powers to get past puzzles, and then I immediately forgot them, I'm sure it wasn't that hard though. I should play the games again, I remember getting to that big dragon fucker final boss, but never being able to beat it cause I was severely underleveled and lmao no going back.

I remember I played it on emulator without the save fix, then got to one of the bonus boss (i think it was the dragon one or the library one, don't remember) and screwed up the save states. It's been a while I want to play it again.

I actually agree. Lost Age actually bored me to the point of dropping it, whereas GS1 is somewhat short if you know what you're doing, but sweet with little to no backtracking.

Golden sun 1 and 2 are both only so fondly remembered on Yea Forums because they were their first JRPG

My first JRPG was super mario RPG. I love golden sun because it's a very concentrated, distilled essence of adventure JRPG. High fantasy with an interesting spin that isn't "muh demons" or "muh machines".

You can easily get the Water of Life before seeing Tret as long as you gear up/djinni up before Mercury Lighthouse.

Not even close, at least for me. I played them through emulation after i already played many/most of PS2's jrpgs. I just like it cause it has a nice class system (although you don't really need to go indepth with it for the vanilla games), a huge, explorable world filled with secrets and an awesome OST. Also i personally love the artsyle and the feeling of adventure it gives off. All in all, it's a comfy rpg desu.

You can go back to Vault and Vale for extra stuff as you progress, too. There's even a pretty major storyline in Lunpa that's completely missable if you don't backtrack.

You could also skip Xian since Chi wasn't needed for any main quest content.

you could argue about stuff you said, but the encounter rate is a non-issue when you have the brain cells to use Avoid psynergy.
