I agree on all levels except one; Kunai cheeses Monk. She's so slow you can hit her with a fully charged and 8-9 bomberflies will hit her every time

Sneak attack her with Gachins then let her poison herself to death.

You could fight her fair, but she is one of the most cancerous enemies in the entire game so cheesing her is better. If you want a "real" fight you can fight her later on, where she is also flanked by mooks to artificially pad the game for no reason.

firecrackers (esp. once they get the extra long light upgrade) and spear (with cleaving sweep) are always in my hotkeys, pick the last depending on what you need for the situation, though shuriken is also in my favs

honestly not really. 3 of them drop some useful infinite status resistance consumables, but the other 3 drop literally useless infinite sugars that cost SPIRIT EMBLEMES TO USE and don't last as long as the standard ones.

All of them. Your drop rate of rarer materials increases as you unlock more prosthetics.

If you have to choose, then the priority is Shurken, Firecrackers and Umbrella upgrades. Everything else is situational or complete trash.

The secret is to fight them one on one and never stop attacking. They never counterattack. Just keep swinging and if they jump away, jump -> shurikens -> chasing slice.
Give Kuro's Charm away at the start of the game, which makes blocked attacks do chip damage to you, incentivizing deflection more. You unlock it for all subsequent playthroughs after beating the game once.

For real fuck the achievements for this game, this is the last time I try going for a 100% in a From Software game.

It's easy, there's a trick to it, You do it, or you die.

Headless is an optional boss, come back later when you have items that deal with it.

Just assume the spear has global range, it may as well do with its memey hitboxes. Your main aim with Spear Isshin is to bait out the overhead swing, dodge to the side and hit his vitality directly.
Once he's below 75% vitality, you can start to target his posture. Keep in mind that Lilac Umbrella blocks Mortal Blade and Dragon Flash attacks, very useful for keeping the fight to your own pace.

I'm on playthrough #5 killing every enemy and boss every time and I still don't have all the skills. I assume some retarded intern coded the achievements because somebody should have flagged up the fact that it is literally impossible to 100% without grinding.

Alot of this game shows how pathetic and lacking the QA was, which combined with Abandoned Dungeon indicates that, yet again, the game is unfinished and rushed.

learn his patterns and deflect. if you cant deflect, try blocking initially to learn his moves. you can mikiro counter his kick.

I believe that the item lore from the firecrackers states that they sold the firecrackers to fund "their" trip to Japan, which would seem to indicate that Robert would also have been at senpou temple. The thing is, it's also been mentioned many times that every one of the kids there died during the treatment apart from rice loli, so unless he's just somewhere that we don't know of he probably died with all the others. Killing his father is a sad moment, but I guess ultimately you're freeing him from the impossible task he's holding onto

The lightning counter is essential for the final phase, make sure to try preserving gourd drinks as long as you can and use mikiri counters too.

Parry his first phase, dodge most of the stuff in 2nd and bait him into lightning in the 3rd.

Apparently after 20 attack power you get massive diminishing return, so probably not.

Bait the overhead swing then chip him down to below 75% vitality. After that, just learn his patterns. Use Lilac Phoenix Umbrella to block his massive AoEs, use Confetti and Sugars.
Learn his Mikiri timings and don't attack too much or you'll end up just hitting him during hyperarmour and getting dabbed on. Always block after you finish attacking, he does his little retreating slash all the time and it's his most tilting annoying move by far.
If your posture's low, get away and restore it, and if he's doing some retarded long-winded combo it's okay to just get away from it.

Some people recommend using Sabimaru and Flame Vent when he's transitioning phases, but i've never had much success with it.
He is beatable and once you learn all his shit, you can destroy him. Phase 4 is easy since you just need to bait out his lightning attacks and redirect them for big damage.

There are three whole other areas you can go to, if you fancy exploring. It's up to you.

just take your sweet time. Sekiro has the best exploration and your missing out if you guide your way through the game.

investigate the castle thoroughly first; you can find Sabimaru there, which is super useful against some of the warrior women you meet later

Senpou is the easiest.
You can go behind Ashina but half of that route is gated until later, so I wouldn't bother. A third area is below the Resevoir, the place you started the game in, that takes you to a whole other branch, that's a bit harder (but not impossible).

Id say Senpou but it really doesnt matter as there is no best.

Once you've beaten the game its almost no challenge on replay. By looking up hints and cheating you're doing the one thing that will forever spoil your experience in this game. The games are designed to, in the words of Miyazaki, "Inspire a sense of overcoming and accomplishment". You wont feel accomplished if you look up answers to puzzles that all have the same solution, which is LEARN the pattern and learn how to react to it. You might feel relieved that you got past something that was giving you trouble but you never learned it on your own and thus you'll never get that feeling of overcoming.

Firecracker does the same as it always does , but since she has a single health bar 8 of them are enough to almost kill her.
Snap seeds do the same as firecrackers except they take health too against monk.

I depleted the main ape's first healthbar without using any Spirit Emblems and then when the second phase started and he summoned his add I just spammed charged Kunai's at the main ape and ran away until his HP was depleted. I had to use the item that gives you the +5 spirit emblems that drains your health.

I have to say I'm a below average player at this game, but it only took me 30-40 hours. Most people complete their first playthrough in 25, I can't imagine taking 70 hours to complete the game.

I was having a ton of trouble with corrupted monk 1. Whoever told me last thread to run around and punish her when she’s recovering, thank you. I took off half her health with projected force umbrella and then just did what you said, hitting her with mortal draw when it was safe. Then a few snap seeds took off the rest.

I used it to get to 14 attack power before fighting SS Isshin and I think it helped. Attack power softcaps after 14 anyways so you only need the 1 point.

You don't have to kill the guys on the way to monk. Just hide in the tower for a bit, kill the adds, if the monk aggros just run around, hide in tall grass and stealth deathblow him. If you don't have the timing or nerve for Mikiri counter, just sprint in a semi-circle around him, his tracking won't catch up with you and once he whiffs a combo, you can sneak a hit or few in. In fact running breaks the A.I for a lot of bosses with sizeable boss arenas or they simple can't keep up the pace with you.

How to do deal with Headless x2 at the bottom of fountanhead lake? Getting constantly peppered with seeking damage/horror projectiles keeps getting me killed.

the chip dammage they do is just insane

Sekiro is much more stern about it's difficulty though and controls your character progression tighter. There's no gear that allows you to next to one shot bosses and you actually have to learn tactics for bosses instead of roll r1 mashing.

you can't apply confetti underwater, and you dont need it for the underwater ones. the fake one has way less HP than the real one.

You can apply it above water and the buff stays underwater. Don't need it but it makes it a lot faster.

npcs dont die
dragonrot only pauses NPC questlines. you can heal it some 15 times. it's really never a problem.

For ogre the trick I found was to not overcommit. Hit him once or twice then back off. Only 1-2 of his moves have a follow up and most have a fairly long "wind down" so its fairly safe to hit him twice, back off and wait for another attack, repeat.

So he's the 'typical darksouls boss' of this game? I heard there was one given that it's the only boss you're not supposed to rush in on after you deflect because you can't deflect (to my knowledge)

Sekiro relies on skill more than anything, unlike Souls where a quick visit to the wiki can usually tell you how to get some item to easily defeat whatever you're stuck on, alternatively just grind. And of course, most egregious of all, just summon one or two other retards and the game turns into a cakewalk.

You actually can deflect him but theres no point to it since the fight isn't about breaking its posture. You end up running in circles all the time and it's the most boring boss fight in the game.

You can puppeteer the big gun girl in the depths, makes fighting the Snake Eyes there quite easy. For the one in the sunken valley just quickly hit her once when she is winding up her three hit combo, it staggers her out of it and by keeping medium distance you can make her repeat that move several times
