Knee Deep In The Dead was good, everything else is shit because Sandy Petersen is awful at making levels, he is the main reason Quake's fourth chapter was absolute shit. "Inferno" way be one of the worst things I have ever hat to play through in my life, it was awful and it baffles me that people think that putrid awful joke of a chapter is even competent.

Quake doesn't display enough enemies on screen or have enough enemy variety to compete, it really needed an official expansion to flesh it out doom 2 style.
They serve a clear purpose in level design, play Dusk and see how easy it is to bunny hop around and barely take any damage.
