Has 2019 been a good year for games so far?

Attached: 542152152.png (894x1008, 1.89M)

So far, but what the fuck is left?

no

In my opinion yeah, add Resident Evil 2 and Ace Combat 7 (though i haven't played this one, but i get the hype behind it)

Well on things i am waiting for, we got Mortal Kombat 11 soon, Halo on Steam, Octopath Traveller PC port, Rage 2, Doom Eternal, the Monster Hunter World expansion and a few more that i am most likely forgetting.

It pains me to say that I am """""""""optimistic""""""" for fallen Jedi, I need to see gameplay but idfk ea can't keep just fucking star wars can they? Its too hard to be that bad they can accidently make a good game right?

>RE2make
>DMC5
>Sekiro
>Anno 1800
>Imperator (hopefully not shit)
Pretty good first half for me so far.

It hurts but i still gotta follow my rule of the thumb, no gameplay no hype, this is still EA we talking about, we may get a 70$ 7 hours long game with day 1 campaign dlc and a season pass for episodes for more campaign content

astral chain may or may not be platinum shovelware, could be neat

>EA
>Nu-Wars
they WILL find some way to fuck it up
even if they have to invent a totally new never-before-seen method of failure
EA finds a way

>ea
Fuck that.

Game will probably be solid. The same people who are dismissing it solely because of EA are the people who dismissed Sekiro because of Activision.

I'm interested (because it has Stig and Respawn behind it) but I'm gonna wait for gameplay footage.

Yes

DOOM Eternal, Ion Maiden, Mordhau, Ready or Not, CupHead DLC, Samurai Showdown, Bloodstained, Super Meat Boy 2, Spelunky 2, Link's Awakening Remake

>Super Meat Boy 2
Didn't the really important guy that made the first game appealing leave?

Not him but yes, plus they made the game much more casualized, you literally use two buttons to play the entire game, it's an autorunner where you can Jump or Slide, that's it

I know tgawards are stupid but
does sekiro win GOTY? Just curious cause it looks like everything that's left this year will be worse
I know kh3 is out and will probs be nominated but that game was a bit of a letdown
also aware some preffer dmc5 but sekiro seems like a way more rounded game given how it has focus on various departments rather than just combat

Desperados 3

>does sekiro win GOTY?
not on the VGAs because there's no easy mode.

Also From will probs try to release DLC before game awards just to up the anti
pls i just wanna see big papa miyazaki snatch the award and look awkward

No, both of those games are trash

>game will probably be solid
>no gameplay to go on
>EA
>Sekiro
>trusted developer
>gameplay trailers to get an actual sense of the game
>not beating the dead horse of a disgraced franchise
>activision only publishing in the West
It’s not even close to the same

Honestly probably not because of that whole cheating article that made everyone support regards who use god mode cause they're shit at games

So theres literally nothing coming out in 2019, I see

If TLoU2 comes out this year, it's winning the GOTY no matter what.

it’s ante user

lol but geoff is pretty close to from and the "EASY mode" discourse is only relevant to game journos, I think respecting the developer's choice is standing on the gamer side, which is likely where tga want to be seen
"accessiblity" is another topic tho

Ah fuck retards*

With DMC 5, RE2, and Sekiro, I’d say it’s been pretty sweet. But yeah, we’re in for a dry spell for the remainder of the year, excluding Ghosts of Tsushima and The Last of Dykes.

Imagine being this sad and not having a single game to look forward this year, what the fuck do you even play that literally nothing coming out this year appeases you in the slightest?

fuck you are right been writing it wrong for years ty
Dont think it's happening until ps5 releases
again, there's always a ton of shitty clickbait press whenever a from game is released, its always regarding difficulty
I doubt these articles will be even relevant in months
also

There is no possible way game journalists can resist vidya oscar bait like Last of Lesbians. They’ll praise it to the moon, and sink down on bended knees to tongue it’s saggy, diseased vulva.

bro i'd cum buckets if tlou2 is released and sekiro still wins
snoy would just cancel all future from projects out of spite
it'd also be the epitome of soul overtaking soulless

Anyone who says no is fucking retarded

First year I haven't bought a single game.

Shills are the lowest form of scum.

Fucking this

I'd be happier if DMC5 wins since it's the lead console was Xbox marketing wise, but yeah i get you the shitstorm would be amazing.

Yes I'm a shill cause I for reasons even I don't get I'm hopeful for something, fuck off

Played like combined 150 hours in the last 3 months of Hollow Knight and Sekiro

I'm sorry I'm not excited about your normie console/AAA/anime games

Different user, but I think it's fair to assume, with the information available thus far, that 2019 is a frontloaded year. RE2, AC7, KH3, DMC5, Sekiro, all out in Q1. We may get some 2019 launch date info at E3, of course.

fuck no sekiro sucks

Already out
>REmake 2

>But yeah, we’re in for a dry spell for the remainder of the year

Stop playing only AAA games

lol @ shooter looter bro here
honestly you can just say it's not your thing

>promised myself that DMC5 is the last game I buy because i spent way too much over the years on vidya
at least it all ended on the highest note possible

Attached: shoryuken.webm (1920x1080, 1.08M)

Trust Noone. Not even yourself.

wasnt sekiro announced at ms' e3 too?

>anyone who discusses games is a shill
This thread is literally discussing the prospect of current and upcoming games you memeing retard. Have your own opinion for once

>forgetting abt astral chain
jk I did too
looking like it's the only game Im exited for this rest of 2019 other than DLCs for sekino

Attached: H2x1_NSwitch_AstralChain_image1600w.jpg (1600x800, 394K)

>didn't catch Nero throwing the lizard until 3rd replay
God I love the co-op

Attached: 1552860168968.gif (250x250, 1.95M)

Still fucking upset Bloody Palace doesn't has Co-op

I think you are right, that said, as long anything wins over The last of Lesbians 2 i will be happy, even more if it's a game that is plagued with fanservice of some sorts that is censored on PS4, hell maybe Doom Eternal has a chance, considering all the debacle around it and SJW's hating on it

Haven't played Sekiro because I'm not really into souls games but yeah

I'm kind of bummed that it's a switch exclusive AFAIK. One of these days I guess I'll buckle down and get one

Emulation will probably be in a great state by the time the game actually releases

You're in luck because it's not like a Souls game and playing as such will get your ass kicked.

Super Mario Maker 2 for starters.

This is accurate. I mean, after the slight promise that was Battlefield One, we get BF5 with Rainbow Coiffed cyborg ladies in WW2. For some reason.

>Arkham Jedi
fuck no

Just these first 4 months already make 2019 the best year of this decade,

maybe give it a chance if you are on PC, just pirate it and see for yourself
It only has the foundamentals of souls, but the moment to moment gameplay is pretty different

Yeah they said that about Bloodborne too. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Ready or Not is 2020

Bannerlord
:(

Maybe get it for smash and botw
I dont like botw as a zelda game but it's still pretty comfy and good if you treat it as its own thing
I mean people always say this but i dont think its likely

I mean the year is looking to be alright so far.

Not him but Smash online sucks dick and BOTW can be easily emulated, even more since the progress on the Switch emulator is insane.

I regret buying my Switch and i would recommend anyone that has no use for it's portability to not buy it, only good use for it right now is playing Monster Hunter, which i am hoping for Capgod to release on PC

You are forgetting about all the Switch games...

kek

Actually there are a few good like Astral Chain, Mario Maker 2, maybe Bayo3 and Animal Comfy

Technically you've been spelling it correct but using the wrong word for the meaning intended.

I was thinking Travis Strikes Back and now Astral Chain, plus the whole Bayo series on one platform. BotW honestly feels like a game that's too large for me. Whenever there's a big ass map I feel a sense of disinterest because I think I'm gonna have to dedicate the next couple months to completing it, when instead I could play a few shorter and sweeter games and feel just as satisfied.

My favorite game so far is kingdom hearts 3

Attached: IMG_2665.jpg (1080x1492, 564K)

Seriously tho co-op when? It's waste of a functional netcode to just leave it for 2 missions.

RDR2 didn't and everyone was harping on constantly about that thing for years though Insee your point. Never really got the hype behind TLoU

That+Divergence mode, there is even game files about them in the datamine, i am guessing Capcom is waiting for the well to dry a bit before annoucing them

god completely forgot about that cover art
is fucking horrendous
looks like they made every other character in a separate project without really thinking about how they'd stand next to each other
>where are they even looking at?
>what's that fucking tower building in the background?
>what happened to that inredible style the original kh cover had? did they really need to showcase ALL of these characters?

true but that year had gow which is arguably an equally big AAA game with snoy backing it
having tlou2 loose this year would be great because there's no soulles AAA game contender, just really good games by smaller studios made with actual passion

Co-op is so stupid fun I really just want it after the cocktease that was mission 7 and thirteen. Also "prioritize friends" is a fucking scam since me and my buddy spent an hour trying to connect and only played together once. Although how would Divergence work with V against Gilgamesh?

He has Enemy Step to buy so he can climb over Gilgamesh legs, also they could make it so when you destroy one of the orbs on the legs, using his teleport instantly brings him to the top.

I agree that the art for the other games are better but they all dont really have any meaning

>RE2make
>Ace Combat 7
>DMC5
>Sekiro
>I guess KH3 but I know nothing about the series
>Tetris 99
>Respawn basically giving themselves a way to live for the forseeable future by being EA's lifeline to shield them from Anthem flopping (haven't played Apex but I hear it's solid)
Pretty good yeah.

Astral Chain, Samurai Shodown, My Friend Pedro, Mario Maker 2, and what said.

Attached: 1553372234251.jpg (1024x993, 101K)

Summoning Nightmare should make him always do the belly flop or Meteor summons, which weight down Gilgamesh and let V just jump on. Also yeah, destroying a leg to let his teleport move up to the top works, since they move slowly enough for Griffon and Shadow to go after it.

Dante would delete Gilgamesh just like he deletes Nero's other bosses. Goliath as Dante is basically free reign to do whatever, Cavaliere + Air Trick nullifies 80% of the Artemis fight, and Malphas gets fucked hard by Balrog.

You know it is just going to be bamham. That is the "easy to play, hard to master" combat they have in mind. Look at tsushima. That was called miles away. The western AAA cannot make compelling combat.

>That is the "easy to play, hard to master" combat they have in mind. Look at tsushima. That was called miles away. The western AAA cannot make compelling combat.

It's Respawn, so I'd say wait and see

This. Respawn is the one AAA western dev that I think is capable of making something that feels good.

I think it's the near photo-real clouds and the starscape that's really throwing a lot of things off. Plus the clouds in the background are diverting attention away from the characters (I'm guessing which are supposed to be the focus of the piece). If you gray-scaled that I'd bet you'd get a lot of near-white from those clouds there. You're also right about "what are they even looking at?" Their eyes seem to be going in all sorts of different directions for whatever reason.

Looking forward for MK11, gonna try out Anno 1800 and WoW Classic, also going to play BL3 but gonna pirate that one sadly

No. Not a single game released this year appeals to me. Same with last year

What do you like?

Every game worth playing seems to be going for restrictive "cinematic" gameplay, survival elements, and/or soulsbourne combat. None of these appeal to me.

come on dude I know were all cynical but really

Yes really.

Several games mentioned in this thread don't have those. DMC5 is in the OP and it doesn't have any of that.

I played the demo of DMC5 at I definitely remember cinematic gameplay. Felt practically on rails compared to the older ones which were pretty linear by themselves.

Did everyone forget metro?

>Every game worth playing seems to be going for restrictive "cinematic" gameplay, survival elements, and/or soulsbourne combat.
Most of the games in should be just fine for you

Level design is more straight-forward for sure, but I would hardly call DMC's gameplay cinematic. You're given the tools and you have to handle the problems faced before you yourself; cinematic and linear are separate concepts. Dante's never controlled better either. You probably wouldn't like to play as V though, since he's built around commanding his summons rather than attacking directly 95% of the time.

I still can't believe the only two games I was interested this year came out on the same month.

It was honestly pretty mediocre

Attached: MHW-Iceborne.png (1920x1080, 1.75M)

>Super Mario Maker 2 for starters.
Only reason I'm not interested in this is because it probably won't have as good online interactivity as LBP which came out over a decade ago.

Kh3 is definitely not getting a single nomination at tga. Maybe so voice actor award or musuc award.

Last of Us will sweep if it releases any earlier than Thanksgiving. If it's not out by their cutoff then I can see the nominees being:
>Sekiro
>DMC5 OR RE2make
>Ghost of Tsushima
>Apex Legends (they've nominated PUBG before)
>a Switch exclusive (no clue what but they probably will, maybe Mario Maker 2 or Pokemon, outside chance of Luigi's Mansion and Astral Chain)
and Sekiro or Tsushima wins.

Honestly I'd like it if DMCV won GOTY

Personally KH3 is special to me and got me the most hyped out of all the games I played despite the controversy but I could see said controversy souring its chances for GOTY

DMCV on the other hand is amazing on pretty much all fronts with pretty much no downsides I can think of aside from stuff that will most likely be added in later anyway (Co-op palace and Vergil) and even then its still great. Also got similar hype moments out of me like KH3 did

RE2 is awesome too but a bit short (which is expected).

Sekiro is great but it didn't have that soulsborne atmosphere and magic that I enjoyed...well probably because it ISN'T a soulsborne game but yeah. After you beat it once you can pretty much zerg through NG+s incredibly fast

yes but not because of sekiro

I need to finish up REmake 2. I keep getting distracted by other things.

How does it compare to 2004?

This is all I got for now.
I refuse to be excited for games whose gameplay hasn't been shown in some capacity.

Attached: myhype.png (3943x649, 2.93M)

I got KH3 and Sekiro which have so far been such a blessing to me and so much fun that I really don't care if no more good games come out for the rest of the year.

Personally I am hoping whatever the fuck Persona 5 the Royal is (expansion or updated re release) comes out this year to put icing on the cake. There are other games I am excited for but I'm fairly certain they will not come out this year since its already April and they don't have release dates

Attached: 1537820718914.jpg (719x367, 41K)

Not really.

It saw some decent games. But compared to some 10-15 years ago, it's fucking garbage. I find more enjoyment out of discovering new games from the past. Never played them, can't even pin that on nostalgia effect.

Currently playing this bad boy, it's unbelievable amounts of fun. Next up is NOLF.

Attached: giants citizen kabuto.jpg (1280x1664, 505K)

So far it's been good. I loved RE2 (easy GOTY so far IMO) and DOA6 and like DMCV and AC7. I haven't played Sekiro yet but that looks good. Upcoming releases seem kind of light though. I'm looking forward to Atelier Lulua, Bloodstained, Mario Maker 2 and maybe Cyberpunk. I'm not convinced Bloodlines 2 will be good yet, same with that upcoming Platinum Switch game.

DOOM
Dying Light 2
Halo on Steam

Attached: 1554255183622.png (369x433, 170K)

Fuck I forgot about Doom

>Dying Light 2

Game of the year whatever year it actually releases in

>AC7
>RE2
>Metro Exodus
>DMC5
>Baba Is You
>Sekiro
>Risk of Rain 2
I have not had this many brand new games I've actually wanted to play in such a short span of time since like the 90s and early-mid 00s.

Any word on release date for Iceborne?

Why 2004?
