I'm glad we got some decent games out of it like DUSK and Amid Evil but all it's really done is made me go back to the classics and appreciate them more and explore their modding scenes. Mainly Blood with Death Wish and Quake with Arcane Dimensions to name several.

Though we've also gotten some shitty throwbacks like that randomly generated low poly space FPS (don't even remember the name of it) a year or two ago. Prodeus also looks a bit average. Haven't played Ion Maiden but it looks bretty gud.

Keep your pants on son, your pic related didnt release yet. Amid Evil is just ok and its not finished yet. Dusk is good but its just one game.

developers are too afraid/shit to do new things so they restort to making these games for nostalgiabucks
that's not neccessarily a bad thing, but I wouldn't say it's good either

is iron maiden even good?
Dusk seems alright.

>developers are too afraid/shit to do new things so they restort to making these games for nostalgiabucks
We've had FPS developers 'doing new things' for the past 15 years, with the dominance of modern military console FPS.
There's nothing wrong with a return to older game concepts if they actually make for good gameplay, and they do in this case.

Why are floors of Dusk littered with garbage? It totally kills the flow of movement

If the levels released so far are anything to go by Ion Maiden will be close to or on par with the classics. At the very least it'll be better than something like Shadow Warrior.

Is that a d20 bomb in her hand?

General disinterest, I got burned out on it as a kid and now devs want praise for treading over worn paths. Nothing much to really talk about here.

What do you guys think of Doom 2? Am I a pleb for not liking it and dropping it? The first Doom is great to me and very replayable. But I feel like a lot of the levels in 2 from what I played felt like a slog to get through.

I love it. Glad there's finally more FPS games where you aren't on a rail which stops every 5 minutes for a cutscene

I feel the oposite way. I think Amid Evil is a good game, and Dusk is just ok but got praise for being first after the disappointment that was STRAFE

I pirated Dusk and i think it's mediocre at best
I would rather replay Unreal than play this shit

Ion Maiden remake thing is hot trash

It's not a remake and it's not even out yet

I'm interested to see more Wrath of Aeon, it seems like the whole open level element could run thin but if they pull it off it'll be amazin

Dusk is great, demo of Ion Maiden was pretty alright but guns could have been better. Project Warlock was fun but a bit too long for the type of game it is.

Looking forward to all of them. Dusk rules. Love the journey it takes from grimy hillbilly cults into surreal monstrous insanity. Best FPS in years.

Play Amid Evil if you want surreal and trippy locations

I played Shadow Warrior, Duke and Quake recently. They're not as good as people remember them.
I also payed Blood and it fucking ruled

Yeah I don't get the praise for Dusk either. The first chapter is some of the most boring shit I've ever played. It's all swamps and farmhouses.

Once you gib some 3d modeled enemies, sprite death animations just aren't the same.

I recently played Shadow Warrior and Duke 3D for the first time and they hold up incredibly well

Not a lot of games let you gib enemies though. In Quake you could gib like low-level zombies, or you neede the Quad damage.

With sprites you can pull off more detailed and gruesome deaths

Sprite gibbing will always be better than 3D gibbing.
