Hoping it's a case that he's pushing for a specific prophecy or something. Probably turns against the party but isn't evil, just needs slapping about and bringing back into the fold.
I think writing of multiple characters is a strong point for Toby. Are they all somewhat goofy? Yes, but that's just the overall tone of the game.

I'd be fine with that. If he turns out evil it'd just feel like a retread of Asriel. Him having good intentions or something to that effect would be acceptable. Plus I'm a softy for characters who genuinely are kind hearted so I'd be bummed to see it was all a ruse.

I really hope they give some justification for this time. I got why Toriel was pissed at him in Undertale; I could still sympathise with Asgore but Toriel was right that he lead to a lot of prolonged suffering by not doing as she suggested (using a human soul to just go out, take what's needed, and free their people).
