I definitely agree on this point if we're talking about DMC1 and 2, those just look like typical early PS2 games that didn't have a huge budget. 3 and 4 were a bit more stylized though, however even though people like Reuben and Itsuno and other people have said it, I'm not really a fan of people calling any artstyle in a videogame that isn't 100% hard realism "anime" or "cartoony". 3 and 4 are kind of in between realism and stylized, but I don't think they look like 3D anime. When I think of games that have an "anime" style I think more of like the Drakengard/Nier series and the early DOA games. But I could understand the outrage if Capcom decided to do the photorealistic look for a game like Street Fighter though. Or if we're talking non-Capcom games, Bayonetta which has always had more exaggerated proportions and designs.

I don't think they really looked identical in DMC1 either. But I could've sworn I saw an excerpt from an interview from the artbook of one of the character designers saying they were specifically told by Itsuno to make them look identical. Even so, it could've just been Itsuno rolling with that idea since making them identical in game would be easier and it would have the dramatic/theatric story effect in that they're identical but act nothing alike, etc. A lot of people were pissed that they aren't identical in 5 but really the only time they were somewhat intended to be is 3.

Well the scar on one of her legs is from Arkham stabbing her, and for the rest of the game she wears bandages over it. But in general the renders from DMC3 have a lot more detail than the in-game models obviously since the graphics weren't that good back then. The only scar that's always been really visible is her nose scar and I think that's because it's sort of iconic to her look. It being less visible in 5 makes sense though since it's been like 20+ years since DMC3.

Haven't done it on DMD, but on the other modes I used summoned swords to chase him down and offset his Regen. When he goes into a stagger state you know you have an opening. How does the ranking system in this game work? Am I supposed to beat the levels quick, get all the red orbs, and get S ranks on fights?

You can parry without too much trouble with payline and shuffle. Shuffle is liable to at least hit them while having you dodge the initial attack if you miss the parry. You can also use ragtime or rawhide to trivialize them, and landing one fully charged shot on them will probably knock them out of whatever teleport pattern they try in a few shots with the explosion.

Why do people keep complaining about loading screens, I'm on PC and even without an ssd install I rarely need more than like 5 seconds to load up the mission.

Style is the only factor. The higher your style meter, the more points you earn for successful attacks, dodges, taunts, etc.

I've cheesed a bunch of the bosses, but I didn't know how to cheese Vergil so I did it legit.

I had that happen to me the other day. Part of that final fight is hoping that V just doesn't eat shit too quickly so he can help you clear out the weaker angelos. A long fight against the proto angelo with V dying early on is almost inevitable though, just play the fight patiently. Proto Angelo has a ton of HP and hits hard but he's slow and extremely predictable. Maybe bring a few buster arms just for him, but angelo busters are pretty slow so try not to do it when his buddies are still alive and on screen.

Nothing to do for the rest of the mission leading up to that but be careful. Rush down the enemy spawners because riots and antenoras are just way too dangerous in such tight spaces, you'll get enough style even with the initial spawns.

Cause I was looking through it and all I can find is it saying Dante is important to Nero in a way because he helped him during the events of 4 in Fortuna. DMC games are still the sum of their parts, I don't know why everyone tries to seperate out combat from level design and story. Also style/weapon switching isn't the be all end all, Vergil 3 is still a better fight than 5 Vergil even though I didnt have every style and weapon imaginable clogging up my controls.

Dante and Nero's air taunt is almost always a guaranteed rank up. A full Dance Macabre can usually get you from B to S and Honeycomb Fire is a good way to get a full rank increase. Dante can also use EX Provocation in conjunction with Summoned Swords to get to SS.

If you just keep rushing him he won't go back to the alter to start the summon swords. Just keep on him. Use the jump killer Bee to close distance and hit him everytime you jump to avoid his hits.

Nero thinks about how he was given Yamato. Dante originally made it his mission to retrieve Yamato, then he let Nero have it like he was just giving candy to a child. He didn’t understand why, but the fact that Yamato was so powerful meant that Dante really trusted Nero. Losing Yamato felt like a betrayal of Dante’s trust which Nero felt guilty about.

Nero stops in shock as he never imagined Dante would say something like that to him. He came to help Dante as he was told that there was a chance Dante couldn’t do this on his own. Knowing this, he didn’t want to leave. V grabs his shoulder and tells him that he needs to leave, but Nero shrugs him off and tries to rush to Urizen.

Nero eventually stops trying to push V back, but he yells out to Dante. “You think I’m dead weight!? Don’t bullshit me!”. Nero reflects on how he came here to save Dante, but he didn’t expect to be treated like worthless trash.

The other passages of the novel highlight how he feels he owes Dante a lot since he bailed him out during the Fortuna incident.
So I'd say he looked up to him but the fatherhood connection I see as a bit of a stretch.
Nero upon discovering his Dad in 5 immediately needed to process it and try to learn more about it. So if he thought Dante was his Dad I'd think he'd have pursued it with heavy interest.

Nero's Bringers are weird where he can basically manipulate their position relative to him and his postion relative to them at will.
At the end of 4 he was just floating in the air while crushing the Savior's face.
He can treat his spectral arms as attatched to his body and unattatched at will really.
It's basically telekinesis in arm form.

I haven't used it specifically for Buster Knuckle purposes but the timing on it would be pretty strict unless you hold it before the attack that launches comes out. It has startup and travel time. You can use it to juggle during a move with a long animation that Dante can't otherwise cancel because he's not in position to Enemy Step, like Redline. I'm sure with some experimentation it could be used like Knuckle though. Could be very useful for Cavaliere combos and of course to get quick followups after both of Balrog's supers.
