I don't know too much about because I don't make YouTube videos but from what I understand, the only way your videos will start showing up in people's recommended feeds is if you upload long videos (at least 10 minutes) on a frequent and consistent schedule (say, two to three times a week).
For most animators this is a pretty tall order because animation is a very time consuming process.

And on top of that, before you need to have a subscriber base of at least 1000 and have over 4000 hours of viewership over the last 12 months before you can even qualify for monetization.

So it's not that Oney is greedy and wants more money. It's just that the he can make a better and more consistent income off of Let's Plays than he ever could with animation, and for considerable less effort. And he needs a consistent income if he doesn't want to get exiled back to Potatoland.
