Now do it in a real game.
Regularly do
Excuse me but:
How?
Would legitimately consider purchasing Splatoon if it had mouse support.
That's gyro aiming
Really? Wow. I'm impressed.
post the japanese doing this with dualies
>>if it had mouse support.
>he doesn't know
Post the video and I'll make a webm
there's too much lag in switch gyro to be that precise so this is muscle memory
So regularly that you have not a single webm of it, hmmmm
Not really. It's not that Switch has more input lag than WiiU so it is shit, it's that Switch is pretty average and perfectly usable while WiiU is head and shoulders above anything bar PS/2 mouse in responsiveness.
Mouse still is superior, you need to combine stick and gyro to get those super fast turns. But gyro allows for comfy FPS controller play and is leaps and bounds more accurate than stick. Also steam has Switch Controller support that allows you to take advantage of it for PC games.
Steam can also do gyro with DS4.
No shit? That's sick, I'm definitely gonna give it a shot. I have no experience using the DS4's gyro so I'd like to get a nice comparison.
I hate gyro on the ds4, but it may be because nintendo implements gyro better in their games.
>Splatoon is still the only good shooter on console and nobody is copying the gyro controls
I wanna burn things
Doom and Forknife have gyro support. Only on Switch tho.
Gyro feels bad
No one in X10 uses stick, fuck off.
What kinda aim-bot shit is this?
I hate how shit your teammates can be in this game and how one bad player can pretty much instantly lose you the game. You get to X Rank and you think your troubles are over and you still get people that don't understand the basic rules of a relatively simple game mode.
I stopped playing because of that.
It's alright. You can just use gyro for pretty much any game through steam. I'm playing through Borderlands 2 like this and it's max comfy. Now if only there was a to center it like in Splatoon 2 by pressing Y. Then it would be better then M&KB in my eyes
In Splat1 they had a good idea for a ranked system, but screwed up some maths so it inflated the second-highest rank.
In Spla2n they decided to fundamentally screw up the system and inflate the top rank instead. Everyone gets deliberately slowly pushed to X, which means every single rank has players of all skill levels.
btfo
Veemo best girl. Randoms are worst everything, GET THE EGGS TO THE BASKET YOU DUMB FUCKS.
What frustrates me the most about Splatoon 2's rank is the point system. You win a game, get 4 points. Win a game, get 3 points. Win a game, get 11 points. Lose a game, lose 48 points. Win the next one, get 9 points. Lose the one after that, lose 61 points. You can undo an hours worth of work in 10 minutes because you get a fucking terrible teammate in both games that may be deliberately throwing the game.
Playing this game can be one huge exercise in frustration. If the game wasn't so damn fundamentally fun to play I'd have dropped it ages ago.
>splatoon in current year
Y i k e s .
LOL this game looks like shit.. It's worst than forthnite in gameplay and graphics. Only pedos and basedboys enjoy it
based
snoyboys coping
>responding
>using shitty consolewar words
You thought you were playing them, but you played yourself.
shit game
It works much better in Japan with their larger player pool. It's not uncommon for japs to have full lobbies of ~2400-score players losing and winning same amounts of points, while in the west you'll barely scrape two per match, with the rest being sub-2100, so even if that other 2400 ended up on the enemy team you lose a ton of points and win nothing because average is way lower.
Splatoon2 is the best game I don’t want to play.
I played at the beginning and easily got to S+ rank. Loved every second of it.
But it made me realize I hate team games. I dont want to depend from others because I’m usually way better. I either carry or lose, but mostly win.
Didnt touch splatoon anymore.
Now I only play smash (like I did for the past 18 years) plus minecraft as a fallback game.
What kind of spin off do you want for this series? I think a Rhythm game is all but guaranteed
Fucking better be, given how banging all the tunes are. Disregarding the obvious, I'd like something that takes a look at non-squid kid culture. What do adults do? A sort of simulation could be pretty cool.
I used to be fucking good at Splatoon. I wasn't a god or anything but I was better than most. I tried getting back in the game a week ago an I lost all my skills and it was very depressing. I bought the first game alongside a wiiu for my birthday back in 2015 and put 600 hours over multiple accounts and was hooked for the entirety of 2015-16 and played nothing else. Bought a Switch for Splatoon 2 and put 200 hours by September. How the fuck do I get better bros, Splatoon is literally my favorite shooter but I feel so out of place with the new weapons and balancing. Pic related was all I could find on my computer from months ago
>Plays a game literally made for nintentoddlers
>Actual fucking toddlers play it
>Mad they aren't good
play a game designed for adults nimrod
Swing and a miss fanboy.
like?
>autistic nips with snipers are always on the enemy team and never mine
uh no sweetie. that's not how it actually works
FTFY
I mean, that guy looks like he has a lot of time to get unreasonably good at kids' game, so why the fuck am I not playing against him?
>Start relying on my gyro more
>Instantly become better
Who could have guessed
Now I just need some better game sense. Just god awful at knowing when it's time to push during RM and CB.
If you can get the lead (or in cb- get considerably closer to it), push. Otherwise don't, either build up control if you are losing or hardwall the enemy if you don't. Don't rush from the start, that's a coinflip if they also rush and a loss if they wall you.
Good work, user. You'll only get better the more you use it.
Thoughts on salmon run?
>the thrill of having saved your dumbass co-workers
The best addition to Splatoon 2 hands down, even if it does make me hate my teammates a lot.
>teammate has a roller during goldfly wave
>they keep flicking over and over instead of just holding it in front of them
>someone has a roller or brush
>keeps trying to kill griller instead of cleaning up the smallfry scourge
This can happen to anyone, though, and it sucks dick. Especially if you were trying to cover a teammate or it got lost in a rain of green ink.
imagine tryharding in a childrens party game
>quota 14
explains a lot
Which is sad because DS4 for example is fully capable of gyro controls, I don't know about Xbox One pad tho, but if they aren't using gyro controls more it's because they're not interested in them, probably not enough people uses them to focus on them.
>, I don't know about Xbox One pad tho
1.0 was fully gyro capable
But since nobody used it, it was lost to the next revision.
>a game where you shoot the fucking ground
amazing, nintendo can sell anything.
>superior aiming options are readily available
>they're getting dropped like a rock
I didn't even know the other consoles had the capability until Yea Forums pointed them out. At least Nintendo is willing to try new shit.
Gyro is the closest your getting to a mouse.
Frankly gyro adds a crazy amount of skill ceiling
You’ll end up hating other games for not having gyro because not being able to a 180 on a dime and accurately kill someone behind you is a huge flaw
There’s no aim bot
Outside of hackers there’s literally no kind of aim assist at all.
I’ve had circles of death in online matches
That’s where two players chase eachother in a circle yet are unable to hit the other
My record is legit 40 seconds of tail chasing
It lowers skill floor too. I gave Splatoon to my 6yo cousin to try, he figured out aiming before he could really figure out moving.
People probably associate gyro with waggle controls, that's why they won't try unless forced by the game
thanks for proving you don't play nor even try to look up information before discussing
>wave where one of the loaned weapons absolutely assrapes the special wave whereas the other three are garbage even if you're good
>person who has the good weapon is a fucking moron
>lose
trash
I just can't into gyro, I'm far better with the regular sticks
It's a shame, because there were great examples of motion controls even during the age of waggle. Metroid Prime and Pikmin 1-2 were at their best on wiimote.
Which reminds me, were those supposed Best Buy leaks ever confirmed or debunked? Metroid Prime with gyro controls sounds like a treat.
There was a jap pro player who destroyed everyone with sticks back in Splat1 days. He took a month off to learn motion controls and became even better.
Because unironically the Wii.
Motion controls used to break games not built around it because instead of a tiny imprecise stick you got the full motion of your arms and wrists
Hell RE4 on Wii was called the worse version because you could trivialize the entire game with constant headshots
The game wasn’t broken the controls were
Octo sweetheart.
I remember that World of Goo port pulled off pointer controls with Joycons, so we may get all three control schemes.
That’s the magic of gyro baby.
Speaking of kids picking up gyro I thought my 11 year old niece how gyro works and even she won some matches as top inker and even got some kills.
Go Baby girl
>you could trivialize the entire game with constant headshots
It wasn't exactly hard to pull off on sticks, and the PC version has more or less the same "issue". RE4 was never that difficult in the first place. I guess I could see how that would ruin the game for some people, but I distinctly recall people calling it the Wii version the definitive up until it released on Steam.
Now THAT sounds like a treat. More options is always a plus.
SHE’S A CUTE!
Sony actually used gyro controls in Gravity Rush. Incidentally it's the only actually fresh new IP they had last gen.
>wanted to buy RE4
>no gyro aiming even thought the fucking DS4 is perfectly capable of it
Fuck that shit.
And by RE4 I meant RE2 remake.
The cutest ever.
I feel even worse about not buying Kat's game now.
I considered the Wii Version the definitive edition too
There’s this weird pushback where people are stuck in their ways screeching sticks are the best controls
So devs just made the game aim for you
Ever since Halo’s Bullet magnetism it’s been this way
Can I hope to reach git gud levels if I refuse to play with motion controls?
Don't get me started on auto-aim, that shit is utter cancer. I hate that in any sort of shooter now my first instinct is always to go into the options and disable it, if it's on by default. Half the time it seems to be.
Given basically everyone above B- uses gyro
You’re gonna have a bad time
There's some webms in this thread that will point you towards no, but you can try.
This
Pure cancer yet they refuse to innovate
Nani the fuck?
How do I git gud at motion controls. I'm using a pro controller
Gyro aiming will be the same no matter what you use. It's all about adjusting the sensitivity to your preferred level and from there just getting a feel for it. I won't lie, it's a bit of a hill to climb at first but once you get into it you'll never want to go back. I personally crank that shit up to the max. I want total control and it gives me that with every little movement I make. I even use max sensitivity while playing in handheld mode.
Simply train, the best training tools to begin with are chargers and the dualies in their roll modes because their shots are absolutely rng-free
reminder, splattoon doesn't have aim assist but doom 2016 does.
Stop thinking in sticks. Gyro is your main input. Stick just changes where you apply that gyro.
Start by just going into the testing range and just pointing the crosshairs at different dummies. Then faster. Then go to the left room and try to keep the crosshairs on moving dummies. Give split joycons a go too, some like them more than Pro. Once it clicks, do a playthrough of either of the singleplayer modes, preferrably the OE if you have it.
Why don't other consoles have this gyro aiming? It's clearly superior to a stick.
I'd say L3 is the perfect training weapon, it also has no RNG but still has standard shot velocity and gives bite-sized tracking lessons with instant feedback.
PS4 has. Xbox does not.
Gyro aiming is for a skill-based competitive experience. People who play shooters on consoles don't want that, they just want to vaguely aim in someone's direction and have the game do the aiming for them.
Practice basically
The stick are for huge sweeps
Gyro is for Precision
If you’re thumbs are going right
Your wrists should be going left for correction
I only use max sensitivity too
It’s like a big more accurate 3rd stick that doesn’t make it feel like you have alien hands
Oh right, one thing I should probably emphasize is that you want to use the sticks for camera control, and gyro for aim. Generally speaking, you keep yourself still until you have the enemy in front of you. At that point you start using gyro to fine-tune yourself and aim like you would with a mouse. Again, this takes some practice and experience and more than likely you'll come up with your own movements and aiming habits. It's all part of the package.
Sort of reminds me of old joysticks from back in the day. Before just anyone could use a computer.
>REEEE motion controls are always cancer! REEEEE
-Signed Austists and normies alike
I never thought it that way but you’re right about the old joysticks
How's the online in spl2n now that there's online jewing? Is it still as active as before in salmon run and the S ranks? I am thinking about finally using my free week but not if the game is dead.
No difference really, it'll be alive for long.
It's as active as it's ever been. Smash and Splatoon are the main reasons to even have it, a $20 paywall won't stop anyone. It's games like Aces and Arms that have taken a big hit.
Remember the testfires and everyone crying about the controls and not being able to aim properly? How things change.
Can't wait for people to bitch about the Switch port then
The only thing I remember is people bitching about rollers being OP. I really miss Saltspray Rig.
Reminder that in first testfire roller itself was an invincible hitbox
Was seaspray one of the testfires? I only remember walleye.
And people didn't flick. Just rolled lol.
That would certainly explain the initial complaints, though I didn't have any problems myself.
Saltspray and Walleye Warehouse were the very first playable maps in the history of the series. Unless you count the people who got to play Urchin Underpass at E3 when the game was first announced. Another map that needs to come back.
From what I understand the PC version is also set up to prevent you from using gyro properly (disables mouse when using a controller), which is part of the reason that I haven't bothered buying it yet. Having mouse as a fall back option is nice, but I would much rather play this type of game on a controller. Gyro really should be universally supported at this point on both PS4 and PC. PS4/Xbone exclusives that require aiming in particular are a waste of a game that would be better off not existing.
doot doot
How's that a bad thing?
That's a good thing. Easy to play, hard to master.
Ah, I thought you were implying it was a bad thing. Apologizes.
Reminder.
That sucks. PS4 is truly holding gaming back.
Nautilus bros how ya holding up?
Will there ever be another original IP like Splatoon that will come out of nowhere and be one of the most fun games ever made? Playing the first testfire and seeing how fun it was was such a great moment. 4 years later and there's still been nothing like it.
DS4 has a much better gyro than the one in Switch.
too bad none of that matters because the game is shitty p2p multiplayer with 12 tickrate
PC not being supported well is likely completely unintentional rather than the fault of PS4. It seems to be 50/50 if developers will set up their controls to check for controller and mouse/keyboard input at the same time or if it will swap between controller mode and keyboard/mouse mode at any button press. With the later, you would be forced to have gyro emulate an analog stick compared to having it give the game mouse input making it work similar to Splatoon. Monster Hunter releasing just a bit earlier worked perfectly using gyro for gunner weapons because the developer team just happened to pick the programming approach that made it work compared to the RE dev team.
By what metric?
>was supposed to be the big FPS IP for Ninty
>ended up as a niche game for waifufags
Did they get too greedy by releasing 2 instead of support 1 more?
I'm using a DS4. It's the support. Dusk plays fantastically. Everything else is a bit of a pain due to the lack of a splatoon button.
Should have made it an FPS if they wanted an FPS IP.
In this case it's moreso Microsoft.
Does anyone else get fucked up because you can't gyro left and right? Like you can't
Not "much", but it actually does have more precise sensors. Which makes the fact they don't fucking use them even more jarring.
Can't you play in teams with people you know irl?
Is it always random, because that would suck.
>People actually pretending having guns with massive splat hit reg onto massive hit boxes is impressive
lmao
Doesn't even work in a practical way because the Nintendo servers are so shit, they have worse tick rates than early Quake servers.
Competitive with friends is a separate mode, which I think is a good idea since it actually gives the option to play competitively against other people who are also playing competitively. Playing with randoms in a team game that is very focused on team work will always be a casual mode no matter what the game calls it. There is no reason to get worked up over games where random luck affects your ability to win. It is best to just try to enjoy it for what it is.
So just play for fun and forget about rank?
