Alright, but a product of its time. Combat looks cool, but is extremely repetitive and frustrating at times. You fight the same respawning enemies over and over and if you try to out distance between you and them they teleport right in front of you which is bullshit. The platforming puzzles are pretty good though, especially as you go later into the game. It doesn't hold up exceptionally well but it's decent for its age. Also, it has a hell of a lot more soul than the games Ubisoft puts out nowadays.

god tier

It's an allright game but warrior within is a 100% improvement. All it did was add rock music and tits to an already decent game. It's how it should be.

this guy is correct about everything

I had a mono television and my 7 year old self couldn't solve that puzzle with the baths at the end of the game

It's dogshit. Two Thrones is better

Great as both standalone AND as a first part of the trilogy. A gr8 fucking game, and as a bonus runs correctly in the PAL format if you have the euro PS2 version.

Also, the soundtrack already had hints of metal, before the dark and edgy sequel:

People like you are brainwashed into thinking old game bad. Not sure if I am even upset at this point, you carry on thinking that.

Dude........ it's not a stereo puzzle.

>a product of its time
Hate this fucking criticism. Classic Prince of Persia was a better experience than 90% of the shit released today

Good game. I got stuck t some part in the bath and never finished the game though. I need try again.

>runs correctly in the PAL format
It was made by french people so that seems normal.

The only good game Ubisoft made

It's the best game in the series.

Old game bad isn't a universal truth but it's often the case for popular genres that are iterated upon and refined as time goes on. Action games have improved dramatically over the past 15 years. Play Nier: Automata and Sekiro then go back and play PoP. The combat is simply not good by modern standards. It's not time itself that ages old games, but the existence of newer, improved versions of the same concept. On the other hand, if you go back and play, say Pikmin or Luigi's Mansion, they've barely aged at all because no one has made a better game in the same style.

The combat was not the point of the game, the levels and the puzzles were. The game never claimed to have amazing combat.

Sometimes if you are given orders to develop for the US/Japanese market first, the 60/30hz version will be the first one you'll make, and maybe 50/25 version will get some funding later. On occasion developers were smart and made the engine run in both formats from the get go (Ratchet, Jak).

The incredibly long, drawn out combat sequences say otherwise. You spend a huge chunk of the game fighting respawning enemies.

Yeah at the time Ubi Soft weren't yet lazy assholes.

That's because you're bad.

wtf the forced fights aren't in the game now

I beat the game, the combat sections were just annoying because of enemies constantly spawning or teleporting right on top of you. There's no concept of spacing or choosing when to engage enemies.

classic/10

Is there a a newer/patched version without the combat sections or something?

True, I was just shitposting.

>You spend a huge chunk of the game fighting respawning enemies.
you spend 25% on fighting and everything else is platforming. how bad were you to fight that long?

Quite repetitive and combat is super simple compared to some other titles at the time.

Play the PC version of PoP games, PS2 ports have inconsistent framerate and they came out at the time when bloom was all the rage so its all disgustingly shiny.

What? Warrior Within sucks dude; while Sands of Time feels really polished and fluid WW runs like this and has worse platforming sections.

25% is a huge amount of time to spend on such repetitive and irritating combat

Think it was either IGN or Gamespot that gave it a 10/10 and I might have to agree with that. It was very good and basically flawless. Maybe not the GOAT game and its even a completely forgotten game but I can't think of a single flaw it had.

Shame the franchise is pretty much dead.
Every time Ubisoft says "We haven't forgotten about PoP" you can tell they aren't interested in the IP anymore.
They would rather milk AC since it's free money.

Why? You got a pretty swell trilogy out if it, which ENDED. You don't want a zombie franchise, trust me.

>warrior within is a 100% improvement
I wish I could hate you to death.

Most people who h8 Warrior Within did not play more than 30 minutes.

It's great and it did not need any direct sequels. I hate what they did to the characters and story later.
