With the abyss seal you have to first drain the water of the underworld like area with the ghosts you can attack after using a transient curse and then after you discover the fog gate below the main area upon wearing the seal drop into the hole after the long downward spiral staircase and you'll enter a 'secret' boss.

if you kill the final boss you'll be locked into heading to NG+, so if you have anything else you need to do now would be a good time to turn back and do them
