In Vanilla you have to juggle between zones. I'm assuming you finished Redridge and Duskwood before entering Stranglethorn Vale.

If you're out of quests, then go to Arathi Highlands and level up there, then go back to Stranglethorn vale until you're high enough level to have unlocked the new quests.

You aggro so far in vanilla, content that seems like you could solo it quickly turns into a gangbang of like 3 enemies

For a dungeon run and all of its quests you could get a level and a half.
For a dungeon run without the quests you still get half a level.

PvP happens all over the road until you reach level 40 and get your first mount. When i leveled up there we had to form groups to patrol the roads to take care of all the hordes ganking us.

While it's true and there are trolls in northern STV that are pretty efficient grinding considering they drop pages, cloth and some other bullshit you can sell, would you really want to grind your way to a level?
Also do the rock elementals in badlands instead if you're gonna grind, they have better drops.

The trick is to only turn in quests when you're past 50% exp into a level.

Grind the first 50%

This will allow you to feel like your levels go by faster and its more efficient as a metric for how much should you be grinding.

It was a chill place to hang out in later expansions since it was a relatively untouched relic and travel was easy anyway, but in vanilla it was off on the ass-end of the world and had fuckall purpose for anyone but low-level nightelves. Even if you wanted to do any of the big dungeons or raids in Kalimdor Darnassus sucked, easier and faster to take the bb > ratchet boat or the menethil > theramore boat.

I loved camping the Kurzen compound. There are only alliance quests there so they thought they were safe from ganking there.

Because early on there wasn't going to be any real segregation between horde and alliance players so they could party together until they remembered their franchise name was WARcraft
it's why there's language skills in the game that barely feature into anything, you would have had to learn other languages in order to communicate with other races/factions

I actually recall reading about a guy who would speedrun characters to 60 for fun. He did alot of documentation about it including fun things like the fact that he believes that troll is best for quick leveling for reasons I forget. Also at his fastest it still took him 30 hours. And he does it all the time.

STV is such a fantastic map. The only thing better is BRD.
