Villains are almost always more interesting than heroes.
That's especially true in the world of Star Wars. Both Jedi and The Republic in general are unrelentingly boring when they're not falling apart or turning evil or whatever. Nobody wants to hear a story about a religious order of basically decent people being nice to others across the galaxy. Or the tale of a huge galactic nation... that is mostly all right, all things considered, a bit overly bureaucratic maybe.
There's a reason all of the good Star Wars stories tend to have the Republic in ruins and the Jedi mostly extinct.

SWTOR had legit good story, too bad the gameplay was a worse version of WoW. SWTOR had the potential to be great if it wasn't on such a terrible engine.

I stopped playing SWTOR after a few months, can anyone tell me what happened to the Empire faction and who leads it? Last I heard pretty much every Sith on the Dark Council got killed and the emperor is dead.

Because the writers actually had to try. Whereas Jedi Knight was cliche as fuck, and Trooper was just taking whole pages from the script for Mass Effect.

Agent and Inquisitor were the best stories by far.

Because the 'good' side is easier to write. Just go with a very formulaic good vs evil bit. Having to write for the 'bad' side forces them to be a bit more creative, since said characters operate within a more morally ambiguous at best environment.

Also yeah, IA was easily the best storyline. SW was also nice.

SI was a huge disappointment, because rather than being some master manipulator (that was more the SW) you were some dumb bitch trying to brute force most everything. Very unsuccessfully I might add, since you were pretty much the second biggest jobber in the universe until the last chapter.

The Sith emperor turns out to not be dead, and it turns out he also has an entire second evil empire that he likes better so he goes and leads that instead. The PC tries to kill him or join him, either way the emperor dies again and the PC gets frozen while evil empire 2 conquers the galaxy. Then the PC is rescued and has to join forces with what's left of the with empire (ruled by some new random sith lord empress), the republic and the emperor (now living in the PCs head) to defeat evil empire 2 and take over.
It's pretty dumb, but you get some actual choices, characters and narrative so it at least feels like more of an RPG than the earlier stories.

Because they tried to do more than just ape the movies.

She's the penultimate boss. You murder her, then the Emperor takes over your body, and in your mind you team up with Arcann, his mom, and the ghost of the mary sue daughter to blow him the fuck out. At least that's how the LS version goes.

I really liked the Consular playstyle (shadow) and the male VA was 10/10 when it came to a Jedi's voice. I wish the JK had the Consular's voice.

But I can't play it knowing that I won't get my love interest until chapter 3. That was such a fuck up by Bioware.

Dark side is all about being fueled by emotions, last I knew, so you 100% can pull a full on shonen "my friends give me power because I love them!" and be seen as "Dark".

The DS options often times don't even make much sense story-wise (especially for Jedis). It's just cruelty for the sake of being a saturday cartoon villain, it's self-sabotage. The SW 'lightside' options often meant you manipulated people instead of just being a violent oaf.

Can't say I liked agent that much, I think bounty hunter was way better.

Lawful Neutral, if you want to using alignment terms, would fall squarely in that. It's true you're following the law, at peace and such but in your following the letter of the law happens. An orphan is put in jail because he took some fruit, instead of working with the community to solve the issue at the root. Despite what a lot of people think being a good jedi often leads to what we see of the orders, apathetic to the plight of those around them because their pursuit of balance and peace within themselves is the end goal.
