Is it possible that it just wasn't very good?
Why does nobody talk about this game anymore
It wasn't bad, but it sure was butt-ugly
There are thousands of great games. Why doesn't anybody talk about Touch Detective anymore?
Yeah, pretty much. Glad we had this talk.
Why doesn't anybody talk about Zack & Wiki anymore? It was one of the best games on the Wii
PC port coming...
Absolutely no idea why the game locks in the first person you choose to pay as for the rest of the game without warning you first, or why the fuck the game spoils the stories of every otehr party member the second you meet them before you can even go through their sections
It's so baffling that it seems like it was made by amateurs
The battle system and customization are pretty fun to mess around with and the aesthetic is decent.
The fact that the characters barely interact is such shit.
I liked it but unless you want to talk about shipping or something there really isn't much to discuss after you're done with it. Gameplay? Could use some polish. World? Cool enough, want to see more of it. Characters? Next time make them interact more/have dynamic stories based upon their presence.
That's about it.
Possible? It was confirmed from the start. The only thing decent that came out of this terrible jrpg was some good tracks here and there.
>a game needs to have a constant circlejerk general up or it's not good
I like turn based games but not when they are slow as syrup.
It was a good game, but it doesn't have much replay value, so there's not much reason to make threads about it.
I hate that this seems to be the prevalent thought.
I see more posts and enthusiasm for the Bravely series than for Octopath. There doesn't need to be a constant circlejerk like Sekiro and RE2 but Octopath has just dropped off a cliff when it comes to interest and discussion.
It's a single player game that was released more than a month and a half ago, so yes, there's nothing to talk about. This is the fate of virtually any SP game, regardless of quality.
>Absolutely no idea why the game locks in the first person you choose to pay as for the rest of the game without warning you first
I was loving the game until i found out your locked into the first character. Completely ruined the game for me and it got dropped.
I'm glad they did, honestly. It forces you to learn the nuances of a character you might have otherwise benched
I loved the music and visuals, but the stories were so fucking soulless and generic it turned me off quickly
>have a 8 character gimmick
>also have the characters never ever interact
>and give them the most generic and cliché stories ever
>spray a shitty artstyle on top of all that as well as some non-memorable soundtrack
>also have the characters never ever interact
this bit is just so strange to me, like everyone's natural assumption upon announcement is
>oh cool you see the story through 8 different perspectives
Like it was just an automatic assumption as the most interesting thing to do with the concept.
But nope.
It's like a $60 proof of concept
Functional enough to play but half baked everywhere else
>if a game doesn't have an annoying 12 year old cancer fanbase like DMC or Souls then it is a bad game
Once it stops being Switch exclusive, people will be willing to admit how fucking ugly it looks.
>characters don't interact
Dunkey was mean to it, and because Yea Forums can't handle that a black man disliked their favorite jrpg they stopped talking about it.
why do you think no one talks about kingdom hearts 3 anymore?
People discuss old games all the time, Octopath fell off the face of the earth compared to even niche franchises despite selling over a million copies and having massive shilling and advertisement, it's just that mediocre and devoid of any sort of personality and qualities.
Take a look at /vg/ and you'll quickly understand that being "good" is hardly what a game needs in order to be talked about. The game has an excellent soundtrack, reasonable gameplay, interesting game mechanics and it's even moderately challenging at some points. Alas, none of these factors are particularly strong at inspiring discussion and anything that can be said about them tends to be exhausted fairly quickly. It's sad but it's "secondary" and even downright harmful elements like lore, plot, waifus, fanart and so on that have a lasting appeal and people are perpetually drawn to.
>black
it's a pasty white male who's slightly overweight
Because I beat it (not to the endgame boss though) so what's there to talk about? I enjoyed it and recommend it.
Actually, yes. Nobody wants to criticize it because the graphics and the audio are just so fantastic, but once you start reaching everyone’s Chapter 3s, the game just gets really tedious. Bosses take way too long to whittle their shields down and everything in general just drags
>party members will only converse with each other once at specific sections in each character's chapter, and only with the 3 other characters in the active party
>the chapters themselves assume that every character is on their own solo journey and everyone but them disappears in cutscenes
>even though some of the overarching plot elements overlap, none of the character stories do
Seconded. Switch port plez!!!
(I never actually beat it despite owning it back in the day due to being a brainlet and it being pretty punishing for a 'point and click')
leftist propaganda
It's horrible, waste of money, and I LOVE JRPGs and played Bravely Default and Second. Do NOT buy this or the sequel, horrible Nintendo-tier cash grab.
>non-memorable soundtrack
Did we play the same game?
>Eric is STILL seething
Woah now, it isn't even Sunday morning yet.
honestly, the soundtrack was the only thing it had going for it.
>Eric
>when the game's coming to pc
>just another weebshit
Why?
the fuck is even weeb about it
It's whole schtick outside of 8 characters was it being like teh old amazeegn Final Fantasy and classic JRPGs
>super mario is weebshit
about as good as I am Setsuna
So it's just okay, and being okay isn't worth talking about. Too many games are just "ok"
It's a JRPG with little to no fanservice. Everyone already played it, said "yeah, that was alright" and moved on.
Mario isn't a JRPG, even the Mario RPGs aren't much like other JRPGs. Think before you post.
Setsuna was a slog from start to finish for me. I liked the boss theme, though, even if it was just some dude smashing his hands on a piano.
newsflash: Bravely Default is also mobile tier garbage from square
JRPG is just a genre and it's not inherently "weebshit", you may have a problem with the game mechanics being extremely derivative but the game as a whole is very light on proper weebshit
Not much more to discuss with it. It's been out for a while, most people who've wanted to play it have. The mechanics have already been hammered out, the story was basic enough there wasn't a lot of need for speculation on stuff not elaborated on or questions on what will happen next. Furthermore, it's not part of a series itself, so there's no future releases that it can latch on to to maintain discussion, though you could say further Bravely Default releases would garner a little extra attention about the game due to its proximity and sharing the same devs.
I imagine a PC release will cause a little more discussion assuming it's not an Epic exclusive, but that'll only last for a few months.
>months
I think that's being optimistic
Glorified indie game
Some games continue to get discussion on the regular. New Vegas fags continually bring that game out at least once a month, Etrian Odyssey has a whole general.
The difference is that New Vegas is part of a larger universe where there's still a lot of undefined pieces of lore, and EO still has regular releases along with a large history of games that ensure someone at some point in time is playing them and wanting to discuss them.
