You don't get much bonuses from SLinks aside from the XP, unless I'm forgetting something. Feel free to do whatever you want.
Emperor is useful to have maxed, since Odin is busted.
Also, romance is forced for the female SLinks, and girls will get jealous and break the link if you have multiple girls past rank six or so, so try and have only one girl past rank six at a time (until you finish the link).
Also, social links will break if you ignore them, though there is a large timeframe, like a month or two. Social links can also be broken by the wrong dialogue options, so be careful.

You can emulate the game in 1080p or higher in widescreen while the PS3 version only runs 480p full screen or stretched. You can even add a party control mod though I don't recommend it for a first playthrough.
Only problem on emulator are the interlaced cutscenes but there's a mod for that.

Very difficult to max all s.links in P3 without a guide, and even then most guides I've seen aren't entirely accurate and are easy to fuck up. But there aren't any major gameplay mechanics locked behind them like there are in 5, so you can just stick to the ones that interest you the most.

I played it and loved it. Tried P4 after and didn't get to the end but it's pretty good as well. Same with P5 but got to the end and the game felt too rushed and the girls felt kinda of bland except maybe the doctor or the prosecutor sister.
Anyway my tips would be:
-dont try to max out all links the game is short on time since it jumps around too much (you'll know what i mean but you wont be able to progress S Links for a long time with some characters and not upgrade stats sometimes as well)
-try going as far as you can dungeonwise and then do S Links (same shit you did at P5 with palaces)
-try progressing the stats evenly, but try going with study first since it takes the longest fucking time
thats it I guess. oh and some S Links dont take time, so try experimenting with all of them b4 you commit to one since it can reverse if you fuck up.
-use guides sometimes if youre too scared to fucking up

but the endgame is easy as hell

Your schoolmates' S.Links in P3 reverse if you don't do them long enough. 90 days for boys, 60 days for girls. The girls eventually reach the stage where they'll get jealous if you hang our with other girls, which in game terms translates to their counters losing 15 days every time you hang out with another girl. Example:
- Yuko (Strength) reaches this stage
- Yuko has 60 days left before she reverses
- Next day, you hang out with Chihiro (Justice) - Yuko has 60-1-15=44 days now before she reverses (the additional day is the day you haven't hanged out with her)
For this reason, it's not recommended to have more than one girl at this "jealous" stage because their S.Links become very difficult to manage.
But the toughest part in maxing out S.Links is the summer vacation when you can't do any school S.Links, and it lasts exactly 45 days. Hope you see where I'm going with this.

Next, certain S.Links are locked behind your stats, so you want those stats maxed out preferrably before those S.Links become available. Yukari needs max Charm, Fuuka needs max Courage, Mitsuru needs max Academics. Therefore, while you should prioritize S.Links, use every other time slot you have to increase your stats as much as you can. The arcade in Paulownia Mall gives the greatest stat boosts (but it costs a lot of money), the shrine gives a big Academics boost if you are in a Great condition, the school infirmary gives a free Courage point when you are Sick/Tired, study every night etc. Research that shit. You should have max Charm by June (I think) when Yukari's S.Link is unlocked, but it's possible to max out all stats in 3 or 4 months.

Another tip: schoolmates S.Links become temporarily unavailable the week before the school tests (like in P4 and P5 AFAIR). So prioritize schoolmates S.Links whenever they are available and do other people's S.Links only when no one from school is available. Nozomi (Moon) is an exception: he's from your school, but he's pretty much always available, even during the summer vacation.

Most of the problem with 2 tends to be from the balance. You can get through the entire game not using the fusion system.

The trickiest part is phone calls from your S.Links. Sometimes they'll call you at night (when you aren't in Tartarus) and offer to hang out on the nearest Sunday. If you say yes, you'll get some points towards their next S.Link rank. This is useful when you are stuck between ranks and need to hang out a few times before unlocking the next rank. But there are a few problems:
- these phone calls are random
- more than one person can call you, and you can't say yes to them all or somebody's S.Link will reverse
- your Sunday becomes reserved, which means you can't buy anything from Tanaka's TV show or do anything else other than hanging out during the day
- if you say no, the person might stop calling you at all (I'm not sure about this, but it's what I experienced - could be because of the randomness factor)
If you manage to max out someone's S.Link between arranging a Sunday date and Sunday itself, they'll call you on Sunday morning and call it off. No hard feelings, no bad consequences; enjoy your free day.
Also, Sunday dates are the best for certain S.Links like Yukari and Mitsuru who have fuckhuge gaps between some of their late ranks. You can close those gaps instantly with a gift. But this can be tricky to finesse because you need to know you are stuck in such a gap before the Sunday date, AND you need to get a gift which will yield maximum points... and that shit can be rare at times (like, available only on Tanaka's TV show on certain Sundays you might have spent with a friend before).

A few more general tips:
- you don't need a matching Persona for Sun and Devil
- join a club as soon as you can to unlock Chariot S.Link; if you don't join a club, the game will force you after a few days
- Chariot unlocks Strength
- Strength unlocks some other S.Link, I think it's Tower or Devil
- Magician unlocks Tower or Devil
- Hermit unlocks... Devil? Fuck, I don't remember who unlocks who, just talk to your S.Links to find out there's a new S.Link in town
- join the student council as soon as you can to unlock Emperor; Emperor unlocks Justice
- join the arts/photography/music club to unlock Fortune; Fortune unlocks Priestess
- buy a Mad Bull at your dorm and a weird takoyaki in town as soon as you can, you need them to unlock Hanged Man, you'll save a day if you already have both in your inventory
- Hanged Man unlocks Sun; visit Sun at the shrine as soon as you can, he'll tell you he lost his red pen. Koromaru has his pen, or rather will have it only after you find out Sun lost it. Get it from Koromaru at the dorm and take it to Sun on the next day to start his S.Link.
- if Star stops appearing, don't worry, it happens only on the week before school tests.
- pray at the shrine to boost an S.Link's points. You get more points with a matching Persona and max Charm.
- if you walk Koromaru at night, you have a random chance of meeting one of your S.Links and boosting their points. The S.Link will be chosen randomly, might even be one you already maxed out, but you might get lucky and get the points you need.

Depends on how good you are. It's completely possible to reach the barrier that blocks off the next section of Tartarus in a single night.
