It's good, too many people don't give it a chance because of the combat system which I never understood, old CRPG's have basically the same combat system yet fewer people complained about in say NWN.
3 is still better though because of bigger scope but 1 had the most memorable moment in the series, chapter 4.

I liked it a lot but Witcher has improved with each game. I don't feel the need to go back. If cdpr decided to remake it in another 5 years or so I'd be cool with that. It's a great game that suffered from inexperienced devs and a small budget. Could be goat if fully remade.

A full remake of W1 would be nice idea on paper but part of the charm is the cumbersome mechanics and low poly environments, it's kinda like Deadly Premonition, if you fix poor mechanics and update the graphics, it wouldn't be a 10/10 because it's part of the charm.
