>Arelith in particular had a lot of problems with sexism and homophobia

Oh so I am supposed to root for them huh?

It's just funny because Beamdog took the high horse about being progressive and holier than thou a few years ago.

>Lets talk some NWN multiplayer.
It's shit and every community is a hostile club house at best, incel schizos at worst.

/thread

Oh boy sure can't wait for the beamdog faggot to show up and post that pasta.

Not every community is like that. Harrowport is pretty comfy and Sacred Kingdom is laid back too.

>Arelith in particular had a lot of problems with sexism and homophobia, with their members talking about conversion therapy, their staff banning gay marriages, and their policy to coach people to change after breaking those rules. Arelith was also the same server with regular drow and demon rape, abortions by ripping babies out of wounds, casual slavery, and druid erp.

Thanks for letting me know the next PW server I'm gonna play on.

Why else do you think it's so popular?

He didnt make it to the last thread, so it looks like we have good weather atm.

this is some serious tinfoilhattery. there was way more interesting stuff going on in NWN that appealed to way more people than whatever the top 3-4 servers were doing, holy shit. whoever wrote this lives/lived in a bubble.

>hostile club house at best, incel schizos

Sounds like I'll fit right in, thanks

What does it take to create a mini MMO with this game? How many people, working for how long to make something decent?

It's all true. They're employed by Beamdog and they worked close together. You definitely can't use the old NWNX with the new NWN, it's a completely different thing developed for Arelith specifically.

There isn't much going on with Enhanced Edition at all and the focus is concentrated on only a few mods. There is still general appeal because if you sell anything there will be people that value it. A lot of servers are opportunistic but they don't benefit much from the enhancement. Unless you think dropping or hanging in population is beneficial.

They act positive because they all want to benefit from it but the truth is their benefit is an afterthought. It sounds ridiculous because it is ridiculous.

I'm really tired of all the Beamdog bickering.

Does the game work on Windows 10 now? I already have the GOG version and it's a disaster tech issues wise.

If the EE "just werks", then I might as well grab it. Only $2 right now on Steam in my region.

Alright, so it seemed for a while like development was moving pretty fast. Beamdog held a stream every Friday where they talked about it and did giveaways.
Then they stopped doing the Friday streams, and we haven't gotten an update since October or November.
I think the community was hoping they'd come up with a new module or expansion pack to sell to help fund further development on the game, but I'm guessing they've ruled that out.
Where does the development go from here? Are they just going to put out the new render system, the 64-bit update, release it on consoles, and that's it?

It does just work on window 10. Thats an A OK from me.

It all depends on how far you want to take it. You can be done in a day or in five years.

More people working on the same project isn't always better. Most big servers have a single developer that drags the bulk of the development weight around while the rest tweak and posture to their community.

Without knowing what your idea is or what you want to change it's not possible to give you a good estimate.

NWN from Gog worked for me in Windows 10. I downloaded diamond edition, clicked on the nwnmain and it ran flawlessly.

Im using Steam btw.

They were getting called out repeatedly by some people so every stream you could see sweat drops form on Trent's head. Then they stopped it after rambling about being in touch with the community.

The community didn't want a big show or anything like that. They just wanted Beamdog to fix some problems hindering the progress of the new edition which they ignored.

>Are they just going to put out the new render system, the 64-bit update, release it on consoles, and that's it?
In the last PAX interview Trent said NWN would be in a good place after that and they could move on. So they're not addressing the problems people had before, and they're just avoiding the community because it was getting awkward.

Anyone giving money to Beamdog at any time, for any reason, is giving money to the cancer killing CRPGs

pc achievements when?

The GOG one had a terrible framerate on my computer for some reason - actually made it annoying to play. Thus far, EE has actually worked pretty well. I don't know any of this stuff about servers, though, I mostly just play with friends instead of dealing with all this "living world" stuff.

Nobody in NWN is all that invested in anything Beamdog has done before. The community doesn't care about the story so that's not the issue. The problem is they don't have the technical expertise.
With that update apparently. Good luck playing the most mind numbing way you can possibly play NWN just for cheevos.

Gog gave me the game for free
Might reinstall

Why is druid erp on that list?

I've got both but Enhanced just works worse for me, it takes more cpu and lower framerate at times. When I transition areas online it stutters and the loadbar and text starts flashing white. They both take as much investment for me to play, I just install and click on the executable.

They mean animal fucking.

Is single player modding dead? The last big project I remember is Gladiatrix but that was a while ago now.

They're far too mysterious, user.

tl;dr?

Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.

1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).

2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.

3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.

4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.

5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.

>nwn was a dying game but had a dedicated community
>beamdog creates a new enhancement
>where are the enhancements?
>it's only basic shit that really benefits simplistic world servers
>Beamdog emplyed devs of those servers to make the updates
>splits up the community
>sales statistics for nwn ee got fucked
>updates have been anemic since
>by the way did you know social justice Beamdog supported nazis and have double standards

They come with an erp mode build in the class. they click on wild shape, now it's time to get erp wild! Being a dire wolf they go and find the first halfling they can jump.

Yeah, that's because GOG patched it to work on Win10. The Beamdog Enhanced Edition for NWN made no sense, but Beamdog had their mitts on the IP I guess. where's that image that showed they basically did fucking nothing to "enhance" it at all anyway?

Yeah I'm just saying because people say the GoG edition didn't work but it did pretty flawlessly. Which image?

I haven't seen an infographic about it but there should be one. There is a lot left to be desired and glaring issues. If you mean a screenshot comparison that comes from their own marketing to show how much it improved. Which is insane to think but they really thought that.

It's easy to figure out whats going on just by glancing at the servers.

I played on Sinfar and never had OOC issues with anyone

What IS going on?

EE does just work
That's why I got it
I dont give a fuck about beamdog drama, it's plug and play

The top server has a population of the next ten servers combined. Besides two servers at the top the rest are dying and on life support.

This. Also, I can join any server I want, and as long as they have NWSync set up correctly, I can auto-download content without having to go hunt for it in a web browser.

Same deal with GoG but it had less drama.

Bollocks! I was really hoping you'd been banned since I haven't seen you shitting up /vr/ lately

Ah yes for all 4 servers that use it and have more than 2 players.

On a slightly different subject, does the whole PRC thing actually work?

...Yeah? It's an old game, man. I'm happy for the servers that are still up.

A great use of developer resources. To save 100 people 2 minutes to extract a download into a folder for a mod pack that is updated once every 2-3 years. Only for playing on 4 minor servers that didn't gain significant players from the updates.

What do you mean? It works but opinions differ on their style and rules implementations.

Okay Miuo good for you.

Well, you never really know with older games. Being 3rd edition, a lot of the content is probably hilariously overpowered or absolute trash, but I thought it might be entertaining to try out some of the character options.

You can't ruleslawyer a CPU obviously.

Is this server any good?

What crimes is Beamdog guilty of?

Unrequited love

About to play for the first time, anything essential I need to know?

Profiting off the desperation of dying communities.

Skip the single player.

If you know anything about 3rd, you'll be fine. If not, stop and ask yourself "how often will this be useful to me" when you're choosing feats and such.

That's because everyone was busy playing with their dicks in your internet whorehouse, user.

Was Arelith the one with separate surface and underdark servers? I remember the underdark one let you play kobolds and shit. There was even a small kobold community with a communal home to hide in when the drow would bully us. It was pretty comfy, though of course some subtle degeneracy was there like that one fat kobold who described in detail how he vored a live rat that writhed down his gullet, or the obligatory slave RP. Still, playing as one of the weaker races having to act humble and submissive towards the other races while scheming their betrayal and only being loyal towards other kobolds was interesting.

I vaguely remember some interesting scripting, too, like how that one bully drow wizard kept sending shittalk messages to us via magical projections. Supposedly the kobold gang managed to gut him in the end, but I wasn't there for that.

You don't need a lot of work. You need a computer that can host the standalone server and the module. It should also be able to keep up with the network communication. It was built for dial-up so it's quite a light load but if you scale it up you'll need better than a cheap solution.

It's possible to run a server on an old 2005 notebook from home and it will do quite well, anything up from that is an improvement. Unlike what some say you don't need to spend a whole lot of money to run a server. You can have area sizes of up to 32x32 10m^2 tiles and about a thousand areas on one server

You can easily make a server with seasonal league mechanics and races, pvp battlegrounds and leaderboards. Even base control and defense games.

>vore
>obligatory slave RP
I thought this was supposed to be a puritanical christian server.

>Arelith in particular had a lot of problems with sexism and homophobia, with their members talking about conversion therapy, their staff banning gay marriages, and their policy to coach people to change after breaking those rules. this was every nwn server back in the days and no one gave a flying fuck. people just had fun and continued on with their business.
racism back then was laughed off. people calling each other kikes and niggers like they would nowadays on Yea Forums was common and expected pre 2009.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with such servers.

Attached: 1546730393168.png (428x339, 134K)

Then keep paying Beamdog to support it while telling you you're evil for supporting it yourself.

never said im supporting beamdog.
i have my original 3 disc nwn special edition. i dont play the shekelgrubber goldstein verision.
