Why would any dev give 30% to Steam when Epic takes 12% and sales are booming thanks to the Fortnite kids?

Why would any dev give 30% to Steam when Epic takes 12% and sales are booming thanks to the Fortnite kids?

Bigger install base on steam
Dev/community forums
Reviews
Etc etc

Until epic adds the quality of life shit that steam built up, it will stay inferior.
The

Because key sites are a thing, if you check Greenmangaming for example they always have upcoming games at a 20-25% discount, they literally take less than 10% of the cut for those keys that activate on Steam.

Devs only choose Epic because they are paid a big ammount for the exclusivity, that's all

>sales are booming
Prove it, shitposter

Taiwan

the only reason devs are using Epic is because sweeney is signing welfare checks to whoever agrees to make their game exclusive to their platform

Fortnite kids don't buy or play other games.

I would've bought Metro Exodus if it was on Steam.

I'll just wait till next year though.

Tiananmen square massacre

Why would any dev give 12% to Epic when itch.io and discord takes 10% and both freely market your game?

This is what baffles me to be honest, why on earth Epic hasn't made a "if you preorder/buy this game you get a skin for Fartnite" it would literally benefit both Epic and the Devs they are so "friendly"

why indeed

Attached: how epic.png (1155x794, 853K)

didn't valve used to do this kind of stuff with TF2?

If EGS is doing so good why do you have to keep shilling it here?

That game looks like shit, stop shilling your game Android dev

Attached: android epic steam 2.png (1195x570, 256K)

Steam covers a lot of expenses for the Dev as well. Stuff like localization fees and taxes applicable to different regions get covered and provides servers for forums and community content to support their games.

Epic offloads all of that onto the Dev.

because they don't have Fortnite, duh

stop shilling you store chang

They did, not defending Valve for doing it, but Epic always prouds themselves of how good they are to the devs, which is surprising they haven't pulled this off, i see literally no downsides for Epic by doing this and it would only increase numbers for them

>indie shovelware garbage

who the fuck cares? critics? pfffft hahahahaha

Yep, and it worked, especially with Deus ex human revolution, saints row 3 and the PC port of Monday night combat.

did you seriously just samefag like that

Fortnite kids don't play anything but Fortnite. It's not a gateway game, it's more of a trap. Also the bigger consumer base on Steam will beat out the benefit of larger revenue percent on Epic most of the time

>says he while defending indie thrash

>all of those indiedevs now getting a taste of bitter reality that their games were never going to be considered on EGS

Attached: 1325727756354.png (477x530, 428K)

Good way to reach a big audience.
The Japanese have discovered recently that they can port literally any console game to PC, and sell it well on steam to western audiences.

probably because a large portion of the games they have signed exclusivity deals with are M rated games and don't want cosmetics from mature games to appear in fortnite to either maintain whatever rating it has now, avoid controversy from soccer moms complaining they put cosmetics of a guy from another video game that shoots himself with finger guns, or the visual style of most of the games they sign exclusivity deals with don't mesh well with fortnite's visuals

come to think of it. Why hasn't EGS tried to get some jap devs on their store?

So devs are already starting to cry about how epic isn't an open platform? I guess they should just shut up and go back to Steam

Fuck off chink shill.

Attached: 1547728744020.jpg (298x877, 54K)

Who says they haven't tried?

They may have, but Japanese devs rightfully don't like their platform.

>Bigger install base on steam

LOL

That doesn't help devs if they're not buying games.

Attached: tayel.png (835x856, 118K)

why would Fortnite kids buy other games when half the appeal of Fortnite is that its free????

Big name games: Steam is bad deal, because muh 30%, and if the game is popular, it doesn't need steam to reach additional audiences.
Small games: Steam is a good deal, because Steam makes it known to a wide audience because of steams large userbase

Attached: 89a.png (1200x600, 289K)

Probably tried but when they told them to censor everything the Japanese devs bailed

>40% i
is that the amount of egs users that don't use steam?

good point. I think the anti-epic camp is just autism at this point but I am hesitant to ever get a game on epic just because none of them are good enough so far. if the dwarf fortress steam release was epic exclusive, maybe.

The Steam store is absolutely flooded with garbage indie games.

It is so over saturated, that no one buys this shit, who looks through the thousands of garbage games and randomly buys your garbage game?

You know that they're banging at SE's door trying to give them a sweet heart deal to make FF7 Remake an exclusive. They're desperate for an exclusive.

This shit wouldn't make the cut on the epic store anyways

Because Steam is a stable, secure, longstanding and popular platform that comes with a lot of benefits from that 30%. Epic throwing money at the publishers for their limited exclusivity deals is both unsustainable long term and directly anti-consumer. They don't offer a fraction of the services and benefits that Steam currently does, and they have notoriously bad account security and shady data collection practices. And for the cherry on top, they've outright said they don't plan to offer sales as frequently or as deeply discounted as Steam is known for. I have no need or desire to support their terrible practices.

>It is so over saturated, that no one buys this shit, who looks through the thousands of garbage games and randomly buys your garbage game?
Switch owners lmao.

12% is unsustainable. Only thing keeping Epic afloat is Fortnite money. Remember its not just Steam that takes 30%. PS and Xbox also take 30.

>retard epic shill doesn't know that steam also generates keys for dev so they can sell it where ever they want for 100% profit

>The Steam store is absolutely flooded with garbage indie games.

Exactly my point. Steam used to be curated now it lets in any piece of shit and dilutes the store

So why should it make the cut on Steam? If 300 copies is all a game is expected to sell on Steam, it shouldn't be selling it or any other low selling indie game

Attached: greenlight steam.jpg (1438x1320, 102K)

>The Steam store is absolutely flooded with garbage indie games
That doesn't matter. Put yourself into the position of a Japanese developer who doesn't have much experience with PC games and western audiences. How would you sell games like Yakuza, Legend of Heroes etc to a western audience? Steam is the best solution for that atm

>>It is so over saturated, that no one buys this shit, who looks through the thousands of garbage games and randomly buys your garbage game?
>Switch owners lmao.

I know this was a shit post, but Switch owners actually buy indie games unlike Steam users

kotaku.com/super-meat-boy-is-the-latest-port-to-sell-better-than-e-1822056498

>The Switch though has seen a number of ports sell better than anticipated. Despite already being out for over three years, the Switch version of Shovel Knight sold better than any of the other versions at launch according to its developer, Yacht Club Games. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Forma.8, and other games have seen similar success. SMG Studios noted in September that Death Squared sold more on the Switch in the first three days than all other platforms it released on combined, while the same thing happened to the Zelda-like exploration game Oceanhorn. And then there was SteamWorld Dig 2, Immage & Form’s action platformer that sold 10 times more on Switch than on Steam.

Friendly reminder that Epic throws the transaction fees at the consumer while Steam pays for it

Might as well maximize your profits. When you're making pixel art bullshit due to a lack of talent and your days are numbered anyway.

>Tayal
Are you the sperg who spammed these threads for weeks by any chance?

Attached: average epic shill.png (1000x3102, 1.97M)

>Steam used to be curated now it lets in any piece of shit and dilutes the store
Yes however this is also good for people who want to enter the developer scene without being forced to give out tens of thousands of dollars.

>Switch owners actually buy indie games unlike Steam users
because beside indiecrap switch doesn't have shit

It doesn't really matter how much percentage the devs get on a store if no one is going to use that store due to shitty business practices.

Attached: download.jpg (1920x1080, 467K)

Dude, it's been fucking weeks since anyone's been mad about Epic, they're just shit and I don't wanna install another launcher. I don't like spyware, I don't like chink shit. I don't want a bare bones store that's the Nintendo Switch equivalent of a PC game store. I don't want games that are released on Steam already, I don't want Bordomlands 3. I don't wanna have to pay Epic's tab because they know 12% isn't enough for them, I don't want my email to get jacked by their botnet.

I want all my games there, I want to have a secure game service with all of my info safely protected. I want robust user features, I want a company with the consumer in mind. I want thousands of games on it to choose from. I want a good platform.

That's why I choose Steam over Epic. I just have common sense.

Attached: 1446498968696.jpg (468x358, 19K)

Piracy digitally distributes games for $0, what is Valve and Epic's excuse?

Can you imagine an entire team of chink workers waking up every morning to shill a shitty store on fucking Yea Forums?

On Steam there are a dozen games just like your indie shit you just released so there's not much incentive to buy yours. On Switch the selection is much more limited and a lot of games like Shovel Knight are selling well because of the fame they gained on other platforms and people re-buying it to have it portable

>I know this was a shit post
Nintendodr0ne.
>but Switch owners actually buy indie games unlike Steam users
They only sell indie crap. Nintendo memE-shop is no better than steam.

Okay, what about not so famous games?

bleedingcool.com/2018/03/16/nintendo-switch-sales-save-blossom-tales-devs-from-shutting-down/

>#NintendoSwitch community is a blessing! #BlossomTales is now a turnaround story: Humble indie dev @castlepixel can stay in business and continue making games. Love y’all! 3 months #Switch revenues surpass #Steam lifetime revenues 20 times!

A switch version of a game literally saved a studio while the steam version nearly killed them

I can, they're in this thread RIGHT NOW.

>makes a game
>only sells 300 copies
>still gets a job at capcom
Looks like a success story to me

>Implying I will ever in my entire existence on this earth support exclusivity in any shape, form, or manner after witnessing the absolute FUCKING state of both consoles and streaming

You have to be retarded or a china-man to want exclusives to have a place in PC gaymen

Attached: 1443944766980.jpg (846x846, 70K)

I don't think working at a soulless corporation is anyone's dream jo-

Oh yes, I sent my application to Capcom and I'll be working for them right away!

*winks at the camera*

Being another cog in the machine is what I've always wanted to do! Forget having my own successful game!

ALL PRAISE LORD GABEN - ANYONE WHO CRITICIZES STEAM IS EVIL

The Japanese will find their own solution for that, probably develop an own store.

This will take a few more years of course. But after that, Steam will be completely dead.

Attached: Untitled picture.png (868x663, 121K)

>why do nintendo fans buy legend of zelda: dork soulz edition over steam users

gee i fucking wonder

The 12% cut will only stay as long as they can finance the store with fortnite profits
Like there is no way to run the store with margins that low.
30% probably gives a good profit margin, but 12% will either be in the negative or go even

Also egs is pretty shit
They know no user would ever use their store so they make it so you don't have a choice if you want the games at launch.
They even have to go so far as to pay publishers even with the 12% cut
Anyone who thinks egs would even have a chance if not backed by billions of fortnite bucks is retarded
The store itself is worthless and not ready for consumers

I swear steam can answer this so easily i a way that will bring even more ire to epic. All they have to do is have a standing offer to anyone signing exclusivity with epic the same amount of money to not be exclusive. Instantly kills epics mojo while maintaining steams positive image in the eyes of the ledditors

Japan prefers physical copies, kys digital distribution drone

Considering Jap devs have already started using UE4 (Tekken 7, Soul Calibur 6, Octopath Traveler), at some point Epic will just convince them to use their store

unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/the-gaming-industry-gets-set-for-an-unreal-2018

I love how cucked Steam users are: Exclusive games they have to wait for or if they do buy the few games that release on Steam, they'll be made in UE4, giving EPIC a nice fat royalty check.

Attached: epic revenue steam.png (714x1017, 96K)

nintendo.com/en_CA/games/detail/quadle-switch/

Fortnite Kids, as in people who play a Free to Play game, don't buy games. They buy cosmetics and microtransactions.

>literal wannabe 2D zelda
Like I said, there are dozens if not hundreds of similiar games on Steam, not so much on Switch. It's selling because there isn't much competition and the free marketing of being visible on the online store

When will indie devs realise marketing is important?

YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP

OH NO NO NO NO NO PLEASE DON'T GIVE MY MONEY TO EPIC AAAAAA NOOOOOO

Attached: IMG_20190210_123739-1.jpg (580x321, 117K)

Epic is good for indies but Steam is good for big companies, hell Epic is still kinda bad for indies since no one buys games on Epic.

If you're pro customer, you should want a curated store

Wal-Mart or any other store is literally curated for the general public

At this point I can't tell if these things are bots or paid shills

There's LITERALLY no way that Epic is gonna "win" in the end.
2 things can happen:
1. Epic opens the floodgates(except for porn games). Same shit happening on Steam happens there. Devs whine.
2. Epic does their "curated" stuff. Truckload of devs don't get in, just like Steam in the old days. Devs whine

30% of 0 is 0. Hopefully PC gamers aren't braindead and either pirate or ignore the game.

>Sekiro, Ace Combat, DMC
Like already mentioned, the Japanese are currently using the carcass of Steam to get more presence is western markets. This is the endgame for Steam.

>and sell it well on steam to western audiences.
Eh this isn't 2014 m8.
Back then pretty much any JP game selling on Steam would sell well. Nowadays the vast majority sell like shit, just like every other game.

why should I give a shit what developers want?
pls explain

Your resorting to shitty console memes tells me all I need to know about you. Steam gets 30% regardless of what Epic makes. That's six times more. Enjoy your sloppy seconds, cuck.

No? Are you fucking retarded? If I'm a customer the best thing to ME is being able to buy ANY game I want ANYWHERE I want. If I want to buy TRUMP ANIME BOOBS SIMULATOR 2017 on Steam I should be able to do it.
Also
>comparing shit to physical store

Every fucking time with you retards.

If you aren't a retard, a very lightly curated store is better

I don't know why publishers continue to use Steam, but they do. Maybe they know something you don't?

Charging for a download license is inherently anti consumer
Steam was accepted even though Valve should have been boycotted into bankruptcy after they launched Steam, what makes you idiots think Epic won't be accepted?

holy ficking based

There is nothing more pro customer than allowing niche games to find moderate success to sustain them.

It's retards who save these comments and post them over and over thinking they are epic trolls when they get replies. It's similiar to how people post specific images when specific things are being said

>Dick GOLDRICH
The dude is a raving lunatic that got mad at Valve, left like a goddamn idiot(couldn't wait 5 years to get his shares options, worth LITERALLY 8 figures) and keeps screaming on Twitter about how Valve is the Big Bad

>Please explain.
Because the consumer is on Steam. Epic has show the consumer no respect, it has actually done everything to take power from the consumer and give it to the developer which will just piss people off in the end. Nobody cares about that 30% bitching either, not when games are chopped up and Sold in pieces as DLC.

Pretty much this. When I was a kid, all I played were f2p shit because mommy wouldn't let me use her credit card.

Maybe. In any case, the only big games that are still published on Steam are Japanese.

>Nowadays the vast majority sell like shit
That's largely because of 0 marketing and censoring. Would also help if a lot of them weren't bad games

>left like a goddamn idiot(couldn't wait 5 years to get his shares options, worth LITERALLY 8 figures)
sauce?

>Booming sales
>They only game they gave some semblance of sales approximation was Metro Exodus
>Not even exact sales figures, just a vague 'it sold 2.5x more than last light did on steam on the same time frame'
>Deep Silver, who's quick to tout how well their games sell when they do sell well, have yet to confirm their partnership with Epic bore fruits

>the only big games that are still published on Steam are Japanese.
what

you heard me

>the only big games that are still published on Steam are Japanese
Just because Epic got a few timed exclusives doesn't mean AAA suddenly dissapeared from Steam

Just shills and bots, I am a bot say hi

>sauce
His own Twitter, it was even this week.

All Epic has to do is deny the wrong SJW feminist developer and they will be broken on the wheel of progressiveness.

>dilute the store
The fuck does that mean? I've literally not once my 15 years of using Steam have come across indie asset flip trash
Unless you go dumpster diving for it, you wouldn't have either
"Curation" is a meme that fags like you like to peddle because you treat your storefronts like glorified social media, to show off your "collection" so you get bent out of shape for the mere existence of garbage on the platform regardless of if you ever actually encounter it

tl;dr neck yourself faggot

>sales booming
>when the only reason Fortnite got even huger than PUBG was because it's free

wow what a fag

>doesn't mean AAA suddenly dissapeared from Steam
it did though

They also:
Didn't say if those numbers include the MONTHS LONG PRE-ORDER ON STEAM(with the preorder going up to #1 after exclusivity deal was announced)

If those are being compared to the shitty remaster.

Also that Steam was literally way smaller than it is today.

one platform has customers, the other only has kids downloading a free to play game.
What's so hard to understand?

No seriously I can't understand.

ok fag I believe (you)

Because those devs are fucking stupid and don't value players who like options/ customizability.
Ebic is the Sony of PC gaming launchers

Attached: 1555010759631.png (3065x1786, 229K)

This whole situation really shows how bizarre things have gotten.
Years of anti-consumer sentiment from journalism is finally coming to a head with developers and companies and even apparently with consumers themselves.

Attached: essentially.jpg (480x360, 18K)

Why would any dev give 12% to epic when discord only charge 10%?
I would bet my left but more people use discord than play fortnite.

Discord store closed.

Great for them. Helps them mitigate risk. EA did that with a lot of indie studios as did Nintendo with Octopath, Bayonetta; Sony with Bloodborne etc. Common practice

We'll really see what people will choose with Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, the, as far as I know, only game that will come out on Steam, GoG, and Epic. Games that are only on Steam on only on Epic are impossible to make decent sales comparisons for because there is no fucking other store it was released to make an actual comparison.

Either that, or wait for Metro Exodus to drop on Steam for us to know how much it'll sell, and if it'll sell more on Steam, on the same time frame of course, let's not be unfair and compare Epic life time sales to Steam one week/month or if Epic comes out the winnner.

>Free servers to handle their networking needs, as well as a multitude of other services that EGStore doesn't provide
>Peer review system, which EGStore lacks
>More serviceable visuals for a storefront. Uses lists with thumbnails and prices instead of Metro-style fuckhuge squares so that people are able to find what they want while also digesting large amounts of information
>A proper search system. EGStore only allows you to search by name, so you'd either need to either explicitly know a game exists on their storefront or find it by chance (meaning, better exposure on Steam than EGStore)
>Small-time devs are unlikely to get their projects on the store until after they're big hits (which means, they have good sales on another platform, such as Steam or whatever console they're being ported from)

HOW’D YOU DO THE CAPTCHA YOU LITTLE SHIT

I really wonder how much will VTMB2 sell, I'm sure they price dropped it everywhere that's not an english speaking country because of how niche it is, at least even on EGS it's the same price, it would be stupid to compare Exodus IF they undo the ridiculous price hike for everywhere but the US when it comes back to Steam

>Common practice
Only on consoles where the consumers are literal 80 IQ retards

>Sales are booming

If it comes out on all platforms, Steam is going to win in sales. As for Metro, it won't sell as well on the Steam release only because most people already pre-ordered it on Steam before it went exclusive or bought it on Epic

>Sony exclusives coming to an open platform
How is this a bad thing you absolute nigger?

>Like there is no way to run the store with margins that low.

oh yeah the bandwidth costs are massive bro

These publishers actually funded these game though, 100% these games would not even exist if these guys didn't invest their money on them, maybe not Octopath since that game's coming to PC. All Epic is doing is giving millions of dollars to publishers who will most likely use that money to expand their own business, while developers will barely see a cent.

Epic game Deep Silver a ton for Metro Exodus? 4A will not see that money for a long time, they already got paid for Metro, Deep Siver has no obligation to give them any of it. That money that was for Metro Exodus, and probably meant to fund more Metro or games developed by 4A, will instead be used for whatever the fuck Deep Silver wants use it.

Steam is where I'll stay for now. My shitty RPG Maker games continue to sell. 3240~ sales so far at just over $2/unit coming to me. I'll keep making them. Once Epic starts taking crapperware I'll sell there too.

What if Epic grabs Bloodborne?

then I get to pirate bloodborne.

Tell me with a straight face that Epic would allow Tayal to be sold on their game store

As soon as Fortnite loses its playerbase from kids being locked from their parents credit card, EGS Will fucking job painfully hard.
12% is unsustainable and EGS is essentially on life support.

pretty sure Steam's not even a full 30% when you account for the fact that you can generate keys that you can sell on your own, I know it's not guaranteed they'll do it like other people say but it's probably not very strict

They launched a store with no shopping cart or search function. The whole point of the endeavor is to do as little as possible, buy up exclusives, and shift all costs onto the consumer. They have no interest in attempting to attract customers with things they actually want.

>Exclusive games they have to wait for
Or just pirate em like a sane individual.

First because it's not 30% unless you're a shit dev and your game is shit and doesn't sell.

What if Valve decides to do something and convinces FromS to port it on steam?

jesus fuck the fag op is one gigantic retard lmao

They wouldn't, but that's not the point

Braid wasn't a particularly good game, but it sold; why? It was one of the earliest indies on Steam and was pushed heavily in a curated marketplace with XBLA which got it positive notoriety

Attached: braid-20080521002344473.jpg (480x270, 61K)

Why customers should support a company bringing anti consumers bullshit to pc gaming?

Attached: 1553252434914.png (1893x212, 23K)

GabeN believes in an open market, they wouldn't pay someone to port a game or make it exclusive.

Would you rather have 88k or 350k?

what epic is doing is basically corporate liberalism 101

throw money at devs in the name of supporting creatives in producing content while trying to build a centralized distribution system (see: monopoly) where consumers unknowingly get fucked while publishers and corporate big-wigs roll in their piles of money

Said game wouldn't even be accepted into ES

Well they'd be fucking idiot hipsters with no taste that get easily sucked into things that call themselves art like Gone Homo

The legit only good game on XBLA for awhile was a weird but faithful port of SOTN

Attached: sotn castlevania.jpg (1000x1363, 228K)

They're doing the part where they support creatives, but not so much the fucking consumers or rolling in money, that's Steam's game.

Yes that would be barry.

>I'm sure they price dropped it everywhere that's not an english speaking country because of how niche it is
Can confirm, base version costs less than our average "60 dollar" game would cost by at least 20 bucks, and at most 140. It's so cheap here that the most expensive edition that comes with all the bells and whistles is fucking cheaper than base AC: Odyssey, and is 90 bucks cheaper than VC4, Sega really aimed for the wallet with that one.

I'll be getting it on GoG though, same price as Steam, which means fairly cheap for a big release, while DRM free? Count me the fuck in.

But I also understand the point in history where Braid could trick idiot hipsters into thinking it's good

I'd call it the Only God Forgives of video games but I still kinda like OGF

any tips how to get started? how difficult is to get/make proper art for your game, or can you use open source assets? how much work do you put into it?

He does pay to try and keep things open, I hope the next head of valve is like this too.

There is nothing that can be said about this topic that hasn't been said in every one of the 100 threads/day posted since december. Fuck off you helpless faggots.

Retail stores are required to be curated there's only so much shelf space in a physical location. This isn't the case for an online market where you can fit hundreds of thousands of games on a few servers in a 1000+ server farm

Because users are the ones paying more since Epic doesn't take the fee for all payment methods. It's literally giving more money to Epic and Devs at the cost of users whilst Epic shills were trying to portray the 12% as being trickle down economics with the savings being "passed" onto users

I jumped on the preorder only because I thought they made a mistake, all other Paradox games here are full price

Why the fuck would Barry be in any thread not trying to start shit about FFXV?

And just when you think they can't get any more retarded, they just keep on trucking.

Because people like me wont buy from anywhere but steam. 70% is better than 0%.

>dev
Stop lying, chink shill. The big publishers are the ones who get paid by Epic, and get a bigger cut of the profits. Devs get the same as always, except with the privilege of having their fans pissed off at them.

The shilling needs to end.

I can confirm, that only /vg/ has bots. If you make a guildwars 2 general, a bot will flood the thread with autosaged incoherrent shitposting, and if you make one for KSPG, it autosages the thread

i dont know? if they dont want to destroy the pc market , let be VERY REAL , steam for you americans and euros is just a store nothing more nothing else dont get me wrong is "THE BEST STORE" but thats it , here (southamerica) and there (russia ) is more than that for hellholes like mine and the russies the impact of the policies of steam like refunds and an excellent eregional pricing (people dont know here on argentina we pay just 30usd for every new AAA release thanks to gaben) gaben bet on the market grow or better said the market switch from piratery to buying games and , that happened , yes our markets are small but the benefit from switching is not the gigantic profit for the developers but the decrease of new generation of crackers seeders and constant torrents from these regions if they are so stupidily are going to migrate to a store that will fuck us (the epic store regional pricing is shit in most countries and you cant fucking refund a game once ffs) is going to make us go back to the old pirating and flooding the internet with piratery like the good old 90s , im going to keep playing their game regardless of store but not only im going to do it free if they maka "exclusives" im going to seed and like a lot of people are doing here a new influx of facebook and webpages promoting torrent a shit

Attached: Piracy.jpg (636x518, 127K)

Bloodlines 2 should sell fairly well if the marketing team keeps up the good work, the game already reached top of the pre-order charts for a bit a year before release.

What are you going to buy when nothing but indieshit is released on it and it's just GOG with DRM and without compatibility?

When Gabe dies Valve dies with him.
His son seems like a faggot.

What's 12% of nothing?

It is a solid puzzle platformer even if nothing else about it holds up for you

>buy
I wont

Attached: 1549934866823.gif (511x512, 106K)

Because recently the mods came out and said that ONE specific autistic faggot spams these types of thread, the subject which said faggot obsesses over varies with time, but the types of threads are the same, the spamming of the same images is the same, and hell if you look at the kind of shitposting it's just his style.

the gw2g bot takes posts from other generals I believe, it's not exactly incoherent
every game does that, as long as it's not a complete flop

Steam will win because Epic can only afford the 12% cut by getting a bigger cut from the buyers.

There is a reason why Paypal refuse to deal with Epic. Paypal ToS say that the seller have to eat the Paypal fee but Epic want to push the costs on the customer.

Right now they charge around 8% for some payment methods.

Back to piracy it is!

>muh 12%
When will the devs start bitching about the 60% the publishers take?

They actually want people to buy their games, for one

Fortnite kiddies only play Fortnite and other zoomer games. Borderlands 3 PC sales are going to be below a game released almost 10 years ago

>bigger install base on steam
theoretically. but even then it's not really as large an advantage as you may think, fortnite has something like a hundred million players doesn't it? What are the odds it has less than 30m pc players? Pretty low I imagine.
>dev/community forums
benefit, agree.
>reviews
this doesn't do anything for the devs, or even consumers, because anyone who's wanted to see what a game is like has gone to youtube since 2009 or so. Devs have adapted to that and you'd be hard pressed to find any game released this decade that hasn't had review copies shit out to a dozen different youtubers to review.
>etc etc
you're gonna have to specify, because I can't think of much else. I don't think epic is good, but it's far from the mess everyone claims it is.

I'm glad this epic store nonsense has sprouted. Maybe valve will get their head out of their ass with some proper competition.

Attached: 1553834874404.jpg (657x527, 44K)

So why are you wasting money now when Steam offers nothing piracy doesn't? You seem extremely dumb.

Its a markov chain from all posts on Yea Forums, /tg/, /vr/ and /vg/. Whats interesting is that it can also post pictures from a looooong list of random shit.

*censors your reviews*

1. I like some of the puzzles
2. Uhm... the twist was kinda neat I guess.

I'd compliment the music but I found out it was licensed

Just replayability. Counter example, Hotline Miami, a game I used to hate and have now come to really like, I do a yearly replay of it because it has really good mechanics and lets you play fast and loose. Puzzle games like Braid you beat em once and then you're done.

Once Epic stops offering free money, devs will stop making exclusives, that simple. Til then, piracy is trivially easy.

based

I'm fine as long as my library is in one place and not fragmented into 20 different launchers. I'm not pirating because I lack funds

Replayability is not the sole measure of a games quality. A puzzle game doesn't necessarily have to be heavily replayable to be good, it just needs good puzzles that you enjoy the first time through

>reviews
I wasn't aware coordinating mass score tanking while ignoring the game in question was a "review" user.

Why don't you go to a in imageboard for developers and ask them retard?

Why does UE4 not have a 5% cut on games in EGS?

I been mostly buying 10-30$ games for the past years, mostly AA titles, wich are still indie tier but with some budget.

AAA has really gone a different way, the ultra budgets and casual audience.
There now exist I think a hole where AAA titles until 2013-2014 are not being made anymore.

That's the market to me:
- shovelwere (like always)
- small indies that are a lot now, hard market
- AA indies (KF2, Rocket League, Deep Rock Galactic, Vermintide 2), this is where it's at
- old school AAA type of games, mostly done by japs? Like MHW, Tekken, DiRT, Hitman, Sekiro
- current AAA(A) titles with often over the top budget and poor content/gameplay technique for price ratio (Battlefield, Anthem, GTA, God of War, Assassin Creed)

Please note the games I list may be good or bad alright.
But to me again, there's a huge disparity between "AAA" and "AAAA" as we should call it nowadays.

And I'd say they are not really the same market, or at least less and less until a possible "AAAA" crash may occur (wich could not even be a big crash, as people still buy shit products)

Epic is only offering money to indieshitters, the bigger studios like 2K are using them because they waive the royalty fee on UE games.

Reviews do nothing but misinform and confuse consumers

Is he the same autist that sperged over various RPGs like ME, Witcher, etc?

>I know this was a shit post, but Switch owners actually buy indie games unlike Steam users
I remember hearing this same story with the Vita. Guess what happened to that?

Piracy has no launcher and every game is in one place on your HDD. You really are stupid aren't you?

*It really just lacks replayability.

To further explain, I can rewatch a really great movie, but I also can shut my brain off and wait for the good parts because I know it already.

>that you enjoy the first time through

Balogne man, balogne. Every couple years I replay Grim Fandango - why? THE WRITING AND STORY and even a little bit of the gameplay as it's like no other adventure game of the era

Why would I replay Braid? You could get the same effect from playing Mario Maker puzzle room shit

Attached: grim fandango.jpg (256x341, 130K)

yes

what point are you trying to make? can you elaborate on that?

Redpill: what about Itch.io?

EGS has like 80 million accounts, Steam has like 90 million active accounts, of course Steam is ALSO bloated with players from F2P shit like Dota
Reviews still have a place because it takes way longer to watch a video than to read a review, I'd say they complement each other
you know Epic owns Unreal Engine right

The what!?

>Why would any dev give 30% to Steam when Epic takes 12%
Well, let's take a look at some pros and cons

PROS:
Larger userbase
Internal forums which reduces hosting costs
Conversion fees are included in the 30%
Workshop automates modding and makes custom content distribution easier
Internal item marketplace lets games with account based item trading have a pre-built system for trading said items
More developed API
Your existing fanbase won't want to lynch you
People are more willing to buy your product when it's not distributed with spyware

CONS:
Tim doesn't pay you big bucks
You can't collect royalties for selling user data to Tencent

Attached: 1537014899114.jpg (640x801, 91K)

If you really cared about the developers you'd complain about the publishers who make a massive profit off of the pathetic wages and hours developers spend making the product.
Instead you're whining that a 3rd party corporation takes the same cut of cash that consoles take for anything put on their client, while actively defending another client that gives less rights to its users and openly practices anti-consumer behaviors, majority of whoms stake is also owned by one of the worst soul-sucking chinese slaver corps on the planet.

Tranny option that might as well just not exist if it's gonna let people get the game for free.

ITCH.io guy is a mentally ill faggot

Attached: itchio.png (744x1040, 149K)

Discord store offers 90/10 split, why aren't devs clamoring to get their games over there?
Surely nothing to do with Tom Swooney signing big checks to publishers

>I'd say they complement each other
ideally, but realistically reviews for the last 3 years on steam have been nothing but meme bait and long winded stories, I can think of less than 20 reviews in any game I was looking at, that w ere remotely serious or went into detail. I'd rather just watch a video and I know i'm far from alone in that.

Doesn’t have great exclusive games like Fortnite and Metro Exodus

God damn. He has decent taste in RPGs but the fucker needs to chill out. Hes used to be like 40% of the threads in the catalog. Probably is now for all I know.

It doesn’t have Fortnite

Sounds like you're the idiot shill. I can pirate all my games from one site meanwhile with multiple launchers
>have to enter payment info and make an account with epic, steam, gog, uplay, origin, battle net, Bethesda launcher
>have to download all the launchers
>have to open launchers to open games
It's not more convenient than piracy at that point

They already found out their games don't sell there despite organized shilling attempt amongst the indie cartel and their blogger buddies to try to push it.
Meanwhile Sweeney is happy to throw fat bribes to try to cement a monopoly on PC gaming for himself and his chink masters, the chinks providing entire farms of chinese shills/bots to relentlessly spam for it. And Sweeney uses monopolistic strategies to try to cement himself a monopoly on PC distribution, it's like Sweeney bullshits straight to your face and expects you to just go along with it just like the resetera pedos do. Not surprising since he probably is one. A resetera user, I mean, ha ha yeah

>Servers are free
>Employees are free
>Power is free
Are you intentionally being retarded or do you suffer from brain damage?

Why the fuck would Tencent want user data you retard? You sell to advertisers, not game companies.

Because no one buys anything on discord. People have their credit card info (as we all know) tied to their epic accounts, and are frequently buying content.
Do you not understand the concept of point of sale impulse items? It's why you see candy bars at the checkout of a grocery store. You're already there buying stuff, why not throw that on for a dollar? You're already buying vbucks on epic, it's not too hard to just click buy this too.
Literally no one buys discord anything.

Steam offers reliable, fast downloads along with some invaluable features like controller customization and easy in game chat with the steam overlay. I'm fine with pirating games, and using the "non steam game" versions of those features, but steam adds enough value to make it worthwhile for me. Epic doesn't.

Over half of Steams userbase are chinks playing PUBG, and f2p shitters for DOTA TF2 and CS. This is the dumbest argument steamtards try to make when Steam literally lost 1/3 of their active daily userbase once Bluehole made chinks use a chink only PUBG launcher.

Steam unlike epic has to make a profit on games hosted on their store. Also this wold piss of any dev that doesn't take an exclusivity deal; it isn't fair to devs.

>Larger userbase
for now
>Internal forums which reduces hosting costs
fucking irrelevant, only retards use Steam forums
>Conversion fees are included in the 30%
still better % with Epic
>Workshop automates modding and makes custom content distribution easier
3rd party hosting is superior than (((Steam))) workshop
>Internal item marketplace lets games with account based item trading have a pre-built system for trading said items
game marketplace is now something desirable on Yea Forums? fucking hell
>More developed API
debatable
>Your existing fanbase won't want to lynch you
positively false. only Steamtards are buttmad about their fatass G_d having some competition
>People are more willing to buy your product when it's not distributed with spyware
Steamtard lies

nobody actually buys games on epic

Are you retarded or only illiterate?

>he thinks Tencent is "only" a game company
>he has never heard of Wechat or QQ
there's no reason for most people to have heard of those things either but please don't say anything stupid if you don't know

>>Steam unlike epic has to make a profit on games hosted on their store

You're right about this. Honestly, Steam drones, has Valve made anything successful in the past few years?

>Steam machines? Flop
>Steam controllers? Flop
>SteamOS? Flop
>Steam Link? Flop
>Shartifact? You better believe that was a flop
>Source 2? Not even made to even be a flop
>Steam Videos? Flop
>Steam VR? Fired devs

Literally the only money they have is from rent controlling other peoples games like a corrupt landlord, and that's gonna end soon.

>and porn
Doubt.

you haven't played it? kys retard

>fucking irrelevant, only retards use Steam forums
It's the best place to go to see if others are having a similar problem after say, an update or a game launch. Otherwise you're stuck with Google or Leddit's page for said game.

>sales are booming thanks to the Fortnite kids
only fortnite micro transaction sales
no one is going to buy games on the epic store
there's a reason they're not releasing any actual sales numbers

Grim Fandango is an adventure game. It's puzzles are the weakest element. Braid is more like picross, it's enjoyable while you're playing but there's no reason to return once the game's done. That doesn't make it bad, it just means it falls victim to diminishing returns. I replay Day of the Tentacle regularly but I'd be lying if I said the puzzles were still interesting the twentieth time through.

The Fortnight kids don't have credit cards and haven't been shown to buy anything. Steam has a proven track record of moving product.
If the Epic Store is so much better how come there isn't a single company that has gone Epic exclusive without take a fat check from Epic Games?

>sales are booming thanks to the Fortnite kids?
Sales of what?

tiananmen square

Fuck off zoom zoom
Fortnite is great

He's DEFINITELY the one that spammed the Pillars of Eternity vs Divinity Original Sin 2.

Never forget that when Epic says Tencent doesn't control them, they are bold-facedly lying to you.
The first time Epic implemented lootboxes with randomized loot and other microtransactions was in Paragon, a game they developed when Tencent bought them.
Then they cancelled Paragon because Tencent pushed them to when they realized that Paragon being a MOBA would compete with LoL which Tencent also owns through Riot (note that Riot also started implementing microtransactions as soon as Tencent bought them).
You see this pattern with everything Tencent buys and the only common denominator is Tencent itself.
Convenient that Tim Sweeny would completely do a 180 on all his ethical beliefs as soon as Tencent buys his company, but Tencent totally has no control over him.

Attached: Abandon Thread.gif (324x232, 2.02M)

Cheeky shill.

is it a porn game?

Fuck epic for letting UT die a painful death.

It's always amusing to me that people think the 12% cut is going to stick around. This is chigger SOP- use government support to offer a deal your competition cannot possibly hope to match and drive them out of business.

Where are Steams sales numbers?

Then they'll probably swap to steam in a month or two post release when sales are dramatically lower than they expect on the epic store. Take Two will probably just launch it's own store anyway since they have massive PC franchises like XCOM and Civ.

>Vulkan
>Proton
>VOGL
>Controller database
>Family library share
>Workshop
>Steamworks

Illiterate I guess. Single launchers are more convenient than pirating
>automatic updates
>guaranteed support
>functional multiplayer
>absolutely zero chance of shady shit
Again I don't have financial issues I can buy any game I want at any time but if it's not convenient I'm not going to do it

Oh so why aren't games on Epic cheaper? I don't win anything on this better cut

>>Braid is more like picross,

And like Picross or games of Sudoku or whatever shit was in Professor Layton, I don't give a fuck about it other than it being a useful gauge to see who is and isn't a fucking idiot.

I think the reason gamers are considered uncultured or retarded is because they go for easy bait games like Braid

And again, you're forgetting that this game is basically only notable for being pushed by game journos and XBLA/Steam curated stores, if it came out now, nobody would give a fuck

Tencent doesn't own Epic and had nothing to do with Paragon. Paragon was shut down because the lead dev left, they ruined the map, and Cameron Winston is a retard.

This

>butbutbut they can't do sales because they only take 12%!

>you're gonna have to specify, because I can't think of much else. I don't think epic is good, but it's far from the mess everyone claims it is.
steam workshop, wishlist, screenshots, cloud saves... epic has no fucking shopping cart, the chink shills are legit sad, I wouldn't pretend epic is usable even for (you)s

>Bigger Installbase
t. never developed a single game in his life

What are the odds this Tim guy mysteriously disappears soon?

He has an unbearable level of autism, and considers himself to be a "social engineer" of Yea Forums,

this

Tencent owns 40% of Epic Games, and is thus the major shareholder.

>DRM mods with filesize limits are a good thing

Sales are anti-publisher, goy.

Because 90%of their user base is on consoles. Ie, they don't use the epic store at all.

Can you imagine the outrage these entitled zoomers would cause if epic was putting it skins they weren't able to access?

>for now
You say that like it's going to change
>fucking irrelevant, only retards use Steam forums
Hosting costs are very relevant, you clearly haven't had to host anything professionally in your life
>still better % with Epic
That's irrelevant if your users end up being the ones covering the costs, which is the case currently, as that means people will be less likely to pay for your game at all, not making a sale is as bad as your game getting pirated
>3rd party hosting is superior than (((Steam))) workshop
Not when it costs more money it's not, that and relying exclusively on your community to support something like that only works if you already have a sizable userbase
>game marketplace is now something desirable on Yea Forums? fucking hell
If you're a developer that wants to have one in your game, yes, it's very much a desirable feature
>debatable
Not really, there's next to no documentation on it
>positively false. only Steamtards are buttmad about their fatass G_d having some competition
Is that why countless communities are pretty much on fire or dead because of EGS exclusivity announcements? You can't downplay the feedback when it's literally everywhere
>Steamtard lies
If you're so okay with spyware, can I have your credit card info, social security number, personal address, date of birth, and about anything else I'd need to access your bank or impersonate you?

I'm sure your shitposting ass has a better idea how business accounting works than actual professionals

what are DRM mods you tard? steam workshop just lets me easily organize and keep updated a bajillion mods for shit like total war games for example, couldn't do that w/o it

No they're not. The majority owner is Tim Sweeny. This info is readily available and you're just making yourself look like a retard.

>social engineer
So we have two of those autists now. At least one showed his face for youtube bucks.

it's not like they disabled modding outside of workshop, it's great for minor tweaks

Lying again, chink shill.
Tencent bought 40% of Epic right when Paragon entered beta and the devs immediately pivoted to making lootboxes and p2w cards which wasn't the case when beta started. There was massive outcry over this and people started leaving the game. Only then did the studio head leave because Tencent was forcing him to turn a good game into utter cancer.

t. seething valve employee

>open steam search

>steam workshop
do people actually use this? I can't think of many games that support it because you can't do anything that involves script extenders for bethesda games, and besides them it's just token, novelty cosmetic shit.
>wishlist
valid
>screenshots
print screen, or shadowplay?
>cloud saves
valid.
>shopping cart
a minor annoyance but I don't know if I'd say being able to buy more shit at once is really a benefit.

ad hominem is not an argument

spotted the assblasted indie dev

You can't use the mods without steam you moron. It's literally DRM for mods, and with a filesize limit on top of that meaning larger mods aren't even available on it. Why do you think everyone uses the Nexus still?

On top of this, you can more easily tell what a bad game is thanks to review scores. Another feature missing from EGS currently.

Japanese devs who've been doing this for a while are probably smart enough to recognize that locking themselves to a smaller userbase for that long is fucking retarded.

Also good games on steam still still really well, despite what whiny devs crying about being buried under garbage try to tell you.

88% of 0 is 0 from me.

>print screen
this actually doesn't work in certain fullscreen titles, it can return nothing more than a black screen or the last image that was rendered before tabbing out but that depends on the game

Tencent now owns 48.4% of Epic Games.

Attached: Untitled.png (360x72, 2K)

If 30% is too much than why is literally every digital store asking for that much?

Steam/Sony/MS all charge 30%
The only reason why Epic can go down to 12% is them getting Fortnite money plus borderline illegal transaction fees getting charged from the customers.

>people are literally shilling for a Chinese mobile game subsidiary

>much much larger userbase

Valve earns their 30%

You could never buy cards you dumbass. Quit trying to argue about something you know nothing about with someone who played the game for 2 years

Shit, I saw that game a couple years ago, later played it. Its a good game, but graphically its pretty poor, not that it matters much given its genre.

>do people actually use this? I can't think of many games that support it because you can't do anything that involves script extenders for bethesda games, and besides them it's just token, novelty cosmetic shit.
for WH2 there's a script extender mod on workshop, you get that, then you get any mods you want and they all work fine, for skyrim I assume you just drop skse and just get hte mods that require it, but bethesda games you can only use nexus, who wants to play bethesda games more than once though, as for screenshots, it's really easy to share screenshots w steam, I just press f12, it pops up on a folder already compressed to 1 MB ish, can upload it to steam servers asap and post the link
>but I don't know if I'd say being able to buy more shit at once is really a benefit.
yes its really a benefit, every steam sale I pick up tons of cheaper games, epic has no games and no sales though so...

yes you can use the mods without steam you fucking retard, they just download the mod files through steam, jesus christ, are epic shills this fucking braindead?

>You can't use the mods without steam you moron.
Yes you can

Only thing Valve earns is you shilling for them literally for free

You literally can't use the files without steam unless you unencrypt them yourself, at which point you may as well just manually install the fucking things like people have for 30 years.

>Epic store
>Clients are the product
>Developers are the customers
What could go wrong?

and what's the fucking drawback, please explain? I have a list of some 70 mods that all get automatically updated and work in offline mode just fine, you worried valve will steal your mods? I don't get it, these mods are also uploaded on other sites, workshop is just there to make it easier for the end user, something chinks clearly don't grasp, also the lacking of features ain't even epic's only concern, I use unique passwords on everything and my epic account gets login attempts every month, same with many people I know, the chinks are selling your data for sure, thankfully I never put my credit card into that shit and never will

>valve proves it can match EGSs cut without screwing foreigners on transactions
>D-DESPERATE!
I don't think valve is the one that should be worried here.

as opposed to be a paid chink shill

This only helps big AAA's, ironically making Epic Store the best place to be as an indie like Shakedown Hawaii, a game made and published by one guy

I actually agree that if it came out now then no one would give a fuck. But that doesn't make it bad, plenty of great games come out that no one gives a fuck about. My favorite game of last year was La Mulana 2 which flopped hard.

You already admitted the puzzle design in Braid was decent, why is it so hard to wrap your head around the fact that that's enough for some people, to say nothing of the pretentious bullshit in the game which some folks eat right up. If I enjoyed my time with it, it was good, it might not be an all time classic and the only real reason it was "important" was because of the way it affected the zeitgeist at that time, but that doesn't make it bad.

Hell, the same is true for Dark Souls, it's just a decent game, nothing special, but people put it on a pedestal because of how it came out at exactly the right time to capitalize on growing discontent with easy games. But even if I think Dark Souls is vastly overrated and is nothing more than a decent hack and slash, I'm not going to call it bad just because I find the circlejerk around it irritating. It's not bad, it's just unremarkable

At least I'm not Chinese

The drawback is that there's fucking DRM on user created content you stupid fucking drone

steam IS curated you fucking retard. it's called user scores and search filters. they even added tags to games.
if you'd rather have central curation by valve instead of decentralized user curation like we have now go fuck yourself

>implying epic cares about indies

>do people actually use this
It's the easiest way to download and play user-created content for games that support it. You not knowing of games that make use of it doesn't mean it's a useless feature. Examples of games in which I made use of the workshop:
Garry's Mod
Killing Floor 2
Divinity Original Sin 2
Tabletop Simulator
Endless Space 2
Sid Meier's Civilization 5
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Chinks fear the Jap.

I can't even find games like this unless i'm literally scraping to the bottom.

Tim sweeney had already said 12% is unsustainable.
In the same tweet he openly wonders why valve takes the normal market share.

I legitimately cannot tell if he's pretending to be a retard or that's just his regular state.

Sweencuck getting muscled out by the Chinese after crashing public relations.

>Tim sweeney had already said 12% is unsustainable.
No he didn't.

He didn't say that, you're the retard.

Ooof man come on. Dark Souls is a breath of fresh air in this industry, it's not my personal kind of gameplay style (I prefer PS2 era stuff like Maximo and Onimusha), but it takes it back to that era of flat out good to great design and expects more than mediocrity from the player

Western game design has regressed to dog shit, their combat systems always just being bad Arkham clones

Attached: western 2.jpg (1286x1018, 236K)

>Please explain.
The consumer still spends SIXTY fucking dollars for jumpnshootmans

Epic store is just a fucking safe space for shitty devs who don't want to get their shit company properly lambasted with negative review score for being a shit company that makes shit games and shit choices regarding their customers... Sorry, "Consumers" as the way they view you.

Are you really gonna support devs who bitch on twitter about their fan base while double dipping on Jewish tactics for money that only the top 10% of the company gets?

Literally every epic bonus is going straight into the CEOs Pocket while the real devs continue to get fucked.

Fuck China and fuck these companies.

Seething shills.

Lmao still lying.
Yeah you can't buy cards. You can buy mastery tokens though so you speed up the grind for cards.
>Don't want to spend 30 hours grinding for a couple cards? Just buy this $150 pack of mastery tokens! It's just "pay to not grind"!!!!11!
Thank fuck I dropped the game before this shit.

That may be so but you have to consider the fact that the inclusion of things like forums and the workshop that's directly covered by that increased percent, things that a large AAA studio wouldn't need covered, that and transaction fees are still covered by valve, something that if forced to be covered by the user can damage a customers perception of a small team especially when that team has no previous good will to take advantage of in order to gain the benefit of the doubt.

>epic recently involved with numerous people claiming a account has been made for them even though they never signed up for it

>epic not even email validating

>most people in comments who have had it done say "Well I just changed the password and now I have an epic account, guess i'll check them out"

Man the chinks are smart

??? did you not read that those same fucking mod files are uploaded on a billion others mirror sites, by the modders themselves, so its up to you if you want to get them drm free with manual updates or "drm'd" with automatic updates, the modders lose nothing, you lose nothing, so please again explain the drawback you fucking mouthbreathing contrarian retard

>phd in gaming
I know weeb are delusional but holy shit

>where consumers unknowingly get fucked
Thing is Epic is pretty open in saying they don't care about putting the consumer first and would rather cater mostly to publishers. People are just retarded or just paid shills trying to push this as a good thing for the industry and for you the consumer.

>If you're so okay with spyware, can I have your credit card info, social security number, personal address, date of birth, and about anything else I'd need to access your bank or impersonate you?
>Steamtards are literal thieves
should have guessed

at least I'm doing something besides selling out to the chink dataminers and allowing console war faggotry to run amok on PC

>do people actually use this?
Yes?
I love when I have a game with workshop mods.
It's zero effort modding for all the minor to mid-level changes you could want.

It's okay to admit you were wrong user, this is literally how the industry works.

Fortnite BR is a live service game, if a live service game made you abandon it to pursue other games its a failure.

>I am too autistic to understand hyperbole

lmao - mash that counter button when you see the blue marker, cuckboy!

I'm still waiting for that card, I can't fill my steam wallet with your credit limit until you do

Mastery tokens unlocked taunts and skins that were locked as you progressed the character, the card packs you got were all free because you got free mastery on every character up to level 5 which is when card drops stopped.
The boxes in your screenshot got dropped in literally in 24 hours after massive community outrage.
One of the main problems people had was how you couldn't buy specific cards and gems despite there being only 3 good ones that you HAD to have to compete.
Once again you're arguing about something you know literally jackshit about

dark souls, bayonetta and god hand are easy as fuck, ninja gaiden is the only somewhat challenging game in that list

There was no point to installing that when you can just torrent it and not use ebin store

I agree with you but the games on the western side are easy dog shit man, what are you causing infighting for. I think those 3 games are a good spread for tastes and differences in gameplay, all doing their own thing without copying the other

Hell, I intentionally left out the few western games that have good combat because that's not the point of the image

I am looking at the Paragon wiki literally right now and it says that mastery levels also unlock cards at level 4, 7 and 10.
And cards were always important to gameplay because they were literally this game's version of the MOBA item shop.
You're still lying, tencent chink shill. I don't need to keep playing your cancer game to see how you went and changed the whole thing to milk me for money.

>the western side are easy dog shit man
i agree only for banham, gow combat is serviceable and as an fps Half-Life is all about gunplay, too different from both list since the other games rely on melee combat

youtube.com/watch?v=stxVBJem3Rs&feature=youtu.be&t=163

Attached: tup.jpg (249x249, 13K)

Then purchase shit from gog you fucking cuck.

>Half-Life

HL2, and it's more dumbed down than HL1, which already dumbed down the genre from peak perfection of the genre with the build trilogy+redneck rampage

Also you're right about God of War - I was too mean to it when I made the image 5 years ago - I had no idea that it could get worse with nuGoW

Attached: Duke_Nukem_3DHRES.jpg (900x506, 85K)

When did I say cards weren't important? I even said the complete opposite. Can you even read English or are you some huemonkey Valve hired to spam the word chink?

>I had no idea that it could get worse with nuGoW
fuck, that shit is so goddamn generic

Steam doesnt have to change. When the fortnite money dies out deva will be crawling back to steam like cum coated abuse covered whores that will do anything for a chance to be back on steam. This if anything is going to screw devs over even more.
Steam will hike their prices back up when they crawl back. Watch

Tencent Games still paying 240 renminbi for every shill post I see.

>mass replying to archived threads

Attached: 1554383457525.jpg (882x624, 122K)

>Having to beat the Kratos clones and Ares on the max difficulty in GOW1

Honestly those 5 games are really full of soul

OH NO NO NO

So we're just ignoring how every publisher was leaving Steam before Epics store was even a thing?

What's worse is Tencent currently holds more than half the votes on the board. While you can't be certain that Epic is set up for majority voting, it probably is. Tencent controls Epic, despite Sweeney's claims.

>his entire argument is minimizing the importance of all the cardinal shifts the game took exactly at the time Tencent took over
>when did I minimize? I clearly said a couple of cards were important!
>I'm sure Valve pays you to shill!!!!!
Yeah whatever. Keep missing the point and projecting, shill. Your precious employer is a cancer upon gaming and has done the same thing to every company it touches, this is universal and obvious.

I can make a similar argument for Epic
the 12% Epic takes means jack shit if the games won't sell enough to make up the loss they would have made for not putting it up on the Steam store front in the first place.
Also lets take into consideration the 12% cut Epic takes, how come the games aren't cheaper on their store front for it?
The still sell the games at basic AAA pricing, so consumers aren't even getting a benefit for this, only the devs

The Steam store still offers features that Epic doesn't have, which should be considered standard at this point, such as customer reviews, a shopping cart, reviews, community options/forums, and regional pricing

I have nothing against Epic Store existing, hell I think Steam could always use the competition, however not offering consumer options and ignoring them and their needs is not the proper way.

I just realised one good thing about Epic: them bribing AAA publishers and other devs means more games getting made for pc instead of retarded console exclusives.

It is precisely the fact that it was a "breath of fresh air" that made it so popular. But quality had nothing to do with that.

In terms of combat and writing, it is utterly uninteresting. The only things it really excels at are monster design and level design. But again, I wouldn't call it bad, just as I wouldn't call Braid bad, they're only held up as being amazing because of WHEN they came out rather than what they actually are, but just because they don't live up to their own hype doesn't make em bad.

The whole west vs east angle you bring up is so irrelevant and out of left field, I can only assume you're a shitposting faggot with no interest in having an actual conversation. Quit wasting my time fag.

imagine? we've been living it for months
it'll stop when Epic tanks in a year or so

I support the games I enjoy because I want more of them and buying them is the only way to make that happen. Nobody is going to make a sequel or similar game to one that isnt profitable. If a game releases only on epic then im okay with never seeing another one. I wouldnt expect a neet to understand.

Calling me the shitposter when you defend Braid but shit on Dark Souls? Fuck off outta here. There's more thought put into a single boss in Dark Souls (pick one, any of them) than the entirety of Braid you fucking dope.

more importantly you can pirate as many epic games as you want now without feeling any sense of remorse

Tencent never took over you fucking retard. The only involment Tencent had with the game was putting it on their own chink only launcher after it was already announced as cancelled. You have done literally nothing but lie about pay2win cards, lie about when the lead dev quit, lie about mastery tokens, and copy shit you don't understand from a wiki while spamming the word chink and looking like a retard, and then throwing a tantrum when I exposed you for it.
Please kill yourself.

literally 2, one of them is back, and microsoft decided to put everything on steam

>defend Braid but shit on Dark Souls
That is not at all what I did. I called them both unremarkable but generally competent games that are only put on a pedestal because of the time that they came out. But I see you never had any interest in making genuine points, you're just a shitposting faggot. Fuck off and die.

Lmao sure. Keep seething. The change to Paragon was just one obvious example of what happens to every single company they take over.
I bet you also don't remember when Donald Mustard, the guy who did mobile game cash shops was put in charge of Paragon. Guess when that happened? Also when Tencent came in.
Proof of everything I'm saying can literally be found on Google. I just Googled "Paragon Donald Mustard" and came up with a ton of Ribbit threads talking about how Tencent did all this shit. Even if I hate that faggot site, they prove everything pretty well.

>Dark Souls
>Unremarkable
>Has several sequels and spin offs
>Games that hit high 80's or low 90's on metacritic
>Unlike when Arkham inspired western devs, FROM inspiring devs is actually a good thing

You really don't know shit about games

Epic will buy your game for sales figures if it does not sell on par. basically they will they sold 10million copies , but not that epic bought 5 million of them.

this, its the best feel, I gladly pirate all epic exclusives, since giving my CC info to china is a big nono, sorry metro devs...

>now
dumb moralfag

>implying retarded critics' opinions matter
>implying sales=quality
The funniest thing is that you implying both of those things while simultaneously whining about the shitty Arkham games which accomplished the exact same things. Kill yourself Fromfag.

Yeah but they'll be exclusive to their store alone instead of also releasing to Steam which still is vastly superior in terms of actual features and user friendliness. When people say their bringing the bullshit exclusivity wars to PC, they meant it in the worst way possible. It's not simply exclusive to PC but available on all PC game stores, it's literally forcing exclusive wars between the PC stores. It's like if the PS4 had two separate storefronts to buy games from and games sold on the console being exclusive to either of those stores, both of which having a major downside to using them. The end result of this bullshit is just gonna result in a surge of people demanding retail again to get out of this store exclusivity warring.
