>Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus will both be featured in a panel at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City that will be dedicated to Death Stranding and hosted by Geoff Keighley. >The panel will take place on Thursday, April 25 at 6pm ET and will run for 60 minutes. Kojima and Reedus will "discuss pushing the boundaries of the video game medium and talk about how their relationship has established over working on the title together."
Death Stranding is more and more an excuse for Kojima to larp as a film instructor
Jacob Nelson
>hosted by Geoff Keighley So has Kojimbles allowed Geoff to gobble his knob yet?
Henry Reyes
The month of D >Days Gone >Dreams >Death Stranding
Dylan Adams
>Film Festival So the twist was he wasn't making a game at all
Hudson Gomez
I don't care until i see real gameplay
Chase Brooks
Only sonyfags could tolerate this charlatan. It makes sense why he chosed you, he can do nothing for years, waste money on his luxurious lifestyle and release a mediocre walking simulator five years later, but get praised anyway because consoles are pretty much a cult at this point.
Cooper Edwards
>2019 >Still caring about Kojimbo Kojima is a failed movie director, same goes for every game director who talks about "narrative" and ignores the gameplay, do not support any game that uses hollywood actors.
He wants to be a movie director so bad it's fucking pathetic
Easton Young
Sony pictures should just fund him as a director already. Drop all this "videogame" pretense...
Jordan Ward
>pcfags assblasted because they need a second, free launcher to buy games now. >psychotically rant like loons about supposed "anti consumer" practices that steam did first and far worse >have a literal cult mind set about steam >"H-heh, those console fags are sure a cult because one game dev is a douchebag...." The absolute state of Yea Forums, gentlemen
Adam Ramirez
Someone ask him if Silent Hills will make a comeback
Lucas Bell
So he's taking years and spending millions for what, a 6 hours walking simulator?
Eli Phillips
He focused far more on gameplay than narrative in his last game yet this braindead board does nothing but complain about it not being enough of a movie.
He is right though, why would you waste money on a game made by person who prefer to hire famous actors, go to film events and post pictures of expensive food on social media ? I don't want to watch a movie, I want to play a fucking game.
James Peterson
norman reedus and his portable trash compactor
Blake Peterson
i know its hard to accept for autistic people but the world does not revolve around you
Oliver Peterson
>strawmanning this hard We complained because it was an unfinished game and the story was filled with plot holes and inconsistencies. Also because he dumped money on a hollywood star for a whopping 10 minutes of dialogue, including the tapes.
Dominic Jenkins
Thats what the rich did in ancient times and look what happened...minus the camera for brainlets
Lincoln Perez
PS5 launch title?
James Moore
Sure you did. It's funny that Yea Forums shows no interest in what budgets are used for in any games other than Kojima's.
Henry Fisher
The game with repetitive missions, repetitive gameplay, unnecessary waste of money on real life models and famous actors, I much as I hate Konami, I would remove him from the project as soon as he mentions "hollywood actors".
Luis Ortiz
So is Kojima just going to make movies or what? I bet he thinks The Last of Us was inspiring.
Dominic Murphy
Movie games. The better question is how much longer can he afford to pay Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen to hang out with him?
Easton Richardson
This. His fans suck his dick so much that they don't realize he was literally fired for mismanaging a project and going WAY the fuck over budget.
Jonathan Martinez
>the story was filled with plot holes and inconsistencies And this is somehow only a problem with V despite the rest of the games also being full of ridiculous plot holes and retcons?
Brandon Walker
Yea Forums constantly checks the budget for AAA games, don't be so fucking disingenuous. Also not every developer is put on a high pedestal like they do with Kojima. The man has done great work, but this cult around him is obnoxious.
Owen Torres
It will be over once the game is released
Aaron Smith
>Yea Forums constantly checks the budget for AAA games Yeah fucking right.
Adrian Walker
80% of an AAA game budget is wasted on marketing.
Andrew Garcia
I'm actually really spooked that DS is gonna be a shitty movie game. MGS123 are masterpieces that pushed gaming forward astronomically. I don't think the world can handle something worse than MGSV (gameplay was awesome though obviously).
Joseph Walker
So whats this guy making like a movie LOL WHAT A HACK, yeah I really have no interest in this walking simulator of his, thats why I go into every thread to say it. Heh imagine actually being excited for videogames in 2019. I dont play videogames myself, but this guy Kojima is just pathetic. And Metal Gear? It was never good. Just another cinematic garbage walking simulator. God I hate videogames, what a fucking hack.
Anthony Moore
Where else would you discuss the dogshit Kojima pushes as "video games?"
Andrew Hall
>MGS >Pushing gaming forward How? By limiting player agency and shoving cutscenes down your throat?
Luke Hill
This. I'm not fucking touching a "game" that makes a big deal about "muh cinematic experience" and hires Hollywood actors for no fucking reason.
Nolan Butler
>MGSV (gameplay was awesome though obviously) >recycled boring missions >grind out the ass >waiting literal hours for upgrades as if you're playing some shekel grubbing mobile game Nah, fuck MGSV in its entirety.
Charles Long
>press x to skip loser
Jaxson Hall
>I don't want to watch a movie, I want to play a fucking game.
Stay with me here. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who want a movie game
Alexander Garcia
The actual mechanics of MGS V are solid, it's the mission and story structure that completely fucked over that game
Jaxson Brooks
Yeah, and end up with a shit pacman tier stealth game that's not even the best stealth game to come out that year.
Jace Thomas
You dont have to play the recycled missions to progress the story, they are there just like a bonus with harder difficulty. Grind was never a problem for me in MGSV, people seriously blow it out of proportions. I just picked some resource here and there while doing missions. If it really bothers some autist that much, just unlock everything with mods.
Ryder Robinson
DS is going to be a shitty movie game. Sorry, but it literally has hollywood actors in it. The narrative makes no sense and nobody can get excited for it or wants to come up with theories like MGSV's development.
Adam Mitchell
at least they were still games. movie games hardly have actual gameplay.
Jordan Brooks
Just watch some fucker on twitch play the game.
Christopher Robinson
>panel at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City that will be dedicated to Death Stranding
The fucking joke writes itself
Oliver Evans
>The actual mechanics of MGS V are solid Sure. But the actual gameplay loop was dogshit garbage.
Levi Morris
I can't wait to effectively pirate this game off of youtube.
Jaxon Scott
L.A. Noire and Beyond Two Souls (shit "game" all things considered) were also at Tribeca Film Festival
Connor Garcia
The problem with Kojima making movies is that he's a hilariously bad writer director. He'd be laughed out of any film festival with his overwritten tripe. MGS got a pass because it's just padding to give your gameplay entertaining context.
Joseph Hughes
Why the fuck do people think Death Stranding is a movie game? There is ALOT indicating that this is not the case at all. Guns, variety of enemies, stealth, health, vehicles, climbing, surviving in harsh conditions and trying to get around the terrain. Like why do people choose to be so ignorant, just so you can be mad at a game thats not even out? And complaining about not understanding the story from trailers and that it seems weird and convulted... I mean thats what the game is fucking going for. Did any of you even play a game by Kojima?
Isaiah Miller
>Tribeca Film Festival Does he even know what the fuck he is doing at this point? What the fuck is wrong with Kojimas brain.
Splinter Cell doesn't get the praise it deserves, the original trilogy had gameplay that was miles ahead of MGS Thief was trash
Lucas Flores
A hideo kojima kino is better than film confirmed
Leo Lee
>Guns, variety of enemies, stealth, health, vehicles, climbing, surviving in harsh conditions and trying to get around the terrain. Except for the vehicles, you could be describing The Last of Us. It has all those things, but they amount to nothing more than filler for a boring movie game.
Jack Miller
Tribeca always had a panel for videogames, dont know why its such a surprise to people
Brayden Cruz
>Tribeca Film Festival
>people actually still wonder why Konami fired this fucking hack
The Last of Us was fucking great and its very far from a movie game. Of course Yea Forums is a fucking hivemind and no one will take opinion like this seriously here. see
Bentley Scott
I liked The Last of Us but it was a movie game. If you actually don't know the difference then you're either retarded or underage. You're even defending both Kojimbo and his game despite there being absolutely fucking nothing shown of it other than some cool imagery. Cope harder crying about hiveminds
Joshua Garcia
The last of us was a movie game with cliche filler "stealth" gameplay
Jacob Carter
>dining with celebs and going to film festivals on Sony's dime
Wew lad.
Bentley Rogers
>Did any of you even play a game by Kojima? Yes. All of them. They really fucking started going downhill fast, starting with MGS4.
Nathan Martin
There was a lot shown and alot of informations given that give you a pretty good idea what the game is. I wont argue with you, because its useless. No one here thinks for themselves, people just post whatever makes them look edgy and whats in line with other posts.
Noah Cruz
>DO RU FEER BAD YET GAJIN >LISTEN ABOUT MY GAEM AT FILM FESTIVAL why hasnt he necked himself yet
Brandon Morgan
Go on then post the information. We got a bunch of thrown together trailers showing literally zero gameplay (the cool imagery I spoke about earlier) and a 'gameplay' trailer which consisted of the main character wandering in a completely barren open world before a singular shot of him pulling out a gun. I think you're the one who's not thinking for himself considering you're so up some-one elses ass you can't comprehend the idea of being fucking rused. There has been no substance shown to this title yet and Kojima has let fame go to his head. Konami told him to fuck off for a very good reason.
Luke Thomas
I disagree with you, but >No one here thinks for themselves, people just post whatever makes them look edgy and whats in line with other posts. I know that feel :(
>There was a lot shown and alot of informations given that give you a pretty good idea what the game is. If you seriously believe on any type of information, from the devs or from trailers before a game release, you gullible as fuck, all that was showed was the type of game, a TPS, like MGS5, but we don't know it is going to work, its going to be like MGS5 or RE4, is going to be linear or open world, sand box or open ended, how the UI is going to be, I will look for a demo after the release of the game.
Nicholas Howard
>Yea Forums constantly checks the budget for AAA games Yeah, okay user.
Okay, here is what I gathered from trailers and the information Kojima given himself. You play as Sam Porter, an employee of organization Bridges. Del Toros character is your boss and his boss might be the other character with skull mask that Tommie Earl Jankins plays. Your job is to deliver supplies, or bodies to settlements. There are two other companies. Leya Seydouxs character works for Fragile Express and the third companys name is unknown, but its a rival company that the man in the golden mask works for. He has some kind of beef with Sam and tries to sabotage him. The world in Death Stranding seems to be post apocalyptic, you can see ruins of New York in one of the trailers. My guess to all of this is that death dimension spilled into a normal world and fucked everything up. Some people can sense the creatures that come from the dimensions, Sam is one of them. He also isnt able to die, when his body gets taken by the ghosts, he is transfered into their dimensions where he explores and picks up his stuff. When he comes back, everytime there will be a huge crater in place of his death. This is all a game mechanic. There is also timefall rain that ages everything it touches. Lots of environmental hazards that you need to avoid. The baby is powering a thing on your shoulder that you use to detect the stranded ghosts, there is only ONE baby in the game. The guy who commands the skeleton army is after it, but he isnt a villain, seems like he has a good reason for it. The five figures in the sky called Ludens might be responsible for all of this and its Sams goal to take them down later in the endgame. I suspect gameplay will change drasticaly. So far we know the gameplay consists of: Stealth mechanics, holding your breath, detecting the ghosts and getting around them. Its confirmed that you can play it like a normal third person shooter too in vein of The Uncharted or The Division. -
Matthew Ward
You have to climb mountains, control your torso etc so you dont trip, use different shoes for terrain, buy little bots to help you carry things. There have been different uniforms showcased and the space Ludens suit might be for endgame aswell. There will be a multiplayer element called the Social Strand System and I think that plays into alternate dimensions. I just dont get how does this sound to people like a movie game. To me its more like Stalker mixed with the stealth of MGS and horror elements like Silent Hill.
>Kojima likes movies >film festival has a panel for videogames >Kojima stops by and he might aswell talk about a videogame he is making WOAH HE FUCKING LOST IT
>What the fuck is wrong with Kojimas brain. Kojima will never get over that he's stuck making videogames instead of movies, he will never get over his inferiority complex as failed movie director and failed writer so he's trying to validate himself AND one upping the entire movie industry by pushing movies in the videogame industry, as a fifty year old, self hating japanese boomer. It's quite pathetic really, I don't even feel like making fun of him anymore because he's genuinely pitiful at this point and I almost feel bad for him.
>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribeca_Film_Festival >The family festival featured children's movie screenings, storytelling, family panels, workshops, and interactive games culminating in a daylong street fair that drew a crowd estimated at 250,000 people >In 2011, L.A. Noire became the first video game to be recognized by the Tribeca Film Festival. In 2013, Beyond: Two Souls, featuring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, became only the second game to be premiered at the festival.
Parker Collins
Is their relationship bound by a contract? It feels that way. Kojima can barely speak fucking english and Norman talked in an interview about how Kojima specifically told him what he needs to say in his speech at game awards, where he thanks Kojima, lol.
I like the stealth/action gameplay in MGSV, but the base-building and research development was shit. Also sucked playing the same repetitive missions over and over to unlock the last mission.
