>Imagine a world where there's a Vita 2 coming out and it's severely more powerful, durable and modern than the current Switch
Fuck me, the Vita had so much potential and it was wasted by Sony just like that.
I thought Nintendo would step up and fill the hole left by it but they can't even design their fucking joycons properly, has ANYONE here actually played portable mode for more than 10 minutes without getting your hand fucked up?
If only Sony wasn't in charge of this
Can i play doom on a vita?
The “2 controls” meme kills the Switch for me as a handheld, the right stick placement is awful and that shitty fake d-pad is fucking aids.
All for what? Nobody can genuinely play with a single joycon, they are unusable, especially the right one.
I would love a mini Switch like the Vita and a Switch TV like the Vita TV.
We all know these tablets will start to fail en masse soon anyway, a non-portable screenless Switch could stand the test of time.
FUCKING YES! You get it user.
The Switch is a fucking design time bomb, the joycons are a massive liability and they break down quite fast for such an expensive item.
Not to mention the ergonomics on handheld mode are disastrous, and why is there no d-pad? Did Nintendo rush this thing?
No, but a Vita 2 would probably run it at 60fps, happy?
>If only Sony wasn't in charge of this
Yeah dude, Microsoft would've been so much better seeing as how they can barely keep the Xbox brand afloat now even with "the most powerful console of all time." And if Nintendo had been in charge you'd just get the Switch, so I don't know what you want here.
Also, maybe lose some weight if you have a problem wrapping your fat stubby hands around a Switch, because I don't have a problem with it. The PSP was worse.
cope, you live in a timeline where the 3ds buttfucked the vita so hard they forced sony to abandon the handheld market and theres nothing you can do about it
I also live in a timeline where I have sex at least two times a week and you never had in 20+ years.
That’s ok i didn’t like Vita’s library, in fact i love Nintendo so much i’d rather have a dedicated home console and a deficated handeld, not a mix of the two in one that can’t really fulfill both roles optimally.
I guess I'm coping. But I'd hate myself for not dreaming of another timeline.
Why wouldn't I want something better than what we got? A man that doesn't dream isn't a man.
I do Muay Thai 5 times a week and have a pretty healthy body/lifestyle, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
And no, at least the PSP didn't felt like crap and wobble a little while holding it in the air. Who cares about the PSP anyway? The Vita replaced it and was a much better design.
I only use the switch as a portable
lol
Same, unless the performance is that much better for the experience
I'm playing two of the biggest games in the world, PUBG and Fortnite on my phone right now. Why would I ever want to buy a portable gaming machine?
I like the shoulder buttons on PSP better.
The only thing that was wrong with vita was the memory cards. If only Sony wasn't so greedy and used normal SD cards, everything would be different.
I refused to buy the pro controller at launch but playing botw with the joycons totally separate in each hand just laying wherever I wanted to lay my hands was an innovate controller experience
It's been hopeless for a long time, from the very beginning. (You), user, will never represent, a young girl's erotic dream. (You) have to resign yourself to the inevitable; such things are not for (You). It's already too late, in any case. The sexual failure (You)'ve known since your adolescence, user, the frustration that has followed (You) since the age of thirteen, will leave their indelible mark. Even supposing that (You) might have women in the future - which in all frankness I doubt - this will not be enough; nothing will ever be enough. (You) will always be an orphan to those adolescent loves (You) never knew. In (You) the wound is already deep; it will get deeper and deeper. An atrocious, unremitting bitterness will end up gripping (You)r heart. For (You) there will be neither redemption nor deliverance. That's how it is.
>h-have sex!
kek it’s so easy making vitards mad. go play hatsune miku or whatever the fuck you nerds play
That's fine for you, because you're a mentally demimished 10 year old. For the rest of is, that's not food eniugh.
What the Vita proved is that a single console manufacturer cannot support both a handheld and a home device at the same time. The Vita lacked suppirt because Sony needed everything they had to save the PS3 and prepare the PS4.
The same stuff happened with Nintendo, I clearly remember the people saying that it wasn't normal for the WiiU to have such droughts in the middle of its lifecycle while the 3DS was thriving
The split between Sony (home console) and Nintendo (handheld) actually benefits everyone in the industry
>MUH HOLES
>Joycons are uncomfortable but Vita is not
>Tiny face buttons
>Sony patented thumb grinding D-pad
>Reaching forward or back to press a flat survace to make up for four missing buttons
>Thumb tac sized sticks they want youto play proper 3D games in
Even as an early adopter I find the Vita circle jerk ridiculous, in terms of game fidelity it never had the potential to be anything more than a notch above the PSP, with it's relatively weak hardware and missing inputs and it shows with how inferior Vita games play, look and run compared to their console counterparts. The Vita even had touble with running some unforgivably bad PS2 ports.
I've sick of hearing "If only X, Y & X THEN the Vita would have been great!" when the reality was Sony put out a poorly conceived concept and aborted it when Daddy Capcom and Momma Square Enix didn't want to babysit like they did with the PSP.
I don't actually regret getting a Vita at all, despite most of the games I enjoyed being ported to other systems, I had fun in the time, but the Vita didn't have a hiddon potential waiting to come out, we got exactly what the potential was ever going to be.
Since Sony loves proprietary things come back with the memory stick pro duo.
Fuck off with the content manager.
Fix the wallpaper thing let me use whatever image I want without turn the shit full of artifacts.
Bring back the XMB.
I just hacked my Vita for the first time and it's fucking incredible.
Well if you love them that much why didn't you buy their last console then ?
>Thumb tac sized sticks they want youto play proper 3D games in
bruh how fat are your thumbs?
>Joycons are uncomfortable but Vita is not
Dude, joycons suck compared to anything
>Tiny face buttons
Lack of d-pad
>Sony patented thumb grinding D-pad
At least there's a d-pad on the thing
>Reaching forward or back to press a flat survace to make up for four missing buttons
Agree, it's a gimmick
>Thumb tac sized sticks they want youto play proper 3D games in
The're at least as bad as the Switch ones
There's not "Vita circlejerk", everyone despised it and keeps hating on it up to this day. What I mean by potential is a Vita 2 with everything tuned up and perfected from its initial design ... just think about it.
Portable gaming shouldn't be so limited and contrived, the era of carrying around a DS-like powered is device is gone.
Vita was also overpriced and had 2 useless dog shit cameras and a worthless back touch pad
Joycons aren't optimal but they're perfectly fine, the key is having every standard input plus really good gyro aiming. Vita loaded up on gimmicks instead.
>There's not "Vita circlejerk", everyone despised it
I didn't say everyone loved it, it got hate and it deserved it, what I'm saying is there's still a sizable circle jerk who think the Vita was a diamond mine waiting to be discovered as if it didn't get a fair chance.
Please tell me how are joycons fine. They have shambolic build quality, no d-pad, consistent drifting issues, connection problems, ergonomic and layout problems (right analog placement, no comfortable grip) AND they're overpriced as fuck.
Regarding the Vita ... all of that could be fixed with a Vita 2 which is exactly why I made this post in the first place, not to contemplate on the OG Vita problems.
You're a 400 pound fucking retard. No wonder you don't like the joycon. You can't even hold them correctly.
Vita Pros:
>indie library is really good
>PSP and PSOne games for fairly cheap
>the few exclusives it had (that eventually got ported to PS4) were good
>cross-buy
>solid display
>features like Netflix and a browser
Vita Cons:
>no Pokemon
>no new Monster Hunter
>No Mario
>memory stick + console price higher than competition
So if your product is more expensive, doesn't have mascot characters, and isn't marketed directly at children, then it's going to fail against Nintendo in the handheld market.
That's basically why it failed. Sony needs to suck it up, make a memorable mascot, milk it, then make a handheld.
>muh graphics
who needs games when you can have graphics am i rite
The problem is dividing your audience. How many people want to pay for 2 consoles at the same time? PSP was a bit of an oddity, since it was "the first time ever big proper 3D games went portable". But that hurts game development, forcing teams to make 2 versions of the same game in roughly the same time and budget, plus you have to make it cross-save, which will cause problems if you properly optimize and edit levels for the weaker hardware. No, making 1 home and 1 portable consoles is a bad idea now.
Nintendo made only ONE console, and this was the only right choice in YEARS.
>ergonomic and layout problems
They don't, which is what counts here. They have bad build quality, outrageously so and I won't defend it, but if you want to play a console quality game on handheld there's the Switch and nothing. I've played Bayonetta on 360, PS3, Wii U (Gamepad and Pro) and Switch (Joycons, handheld, pro) and guess which ones I had a problem with? None of them. It's fine, a surprising amount of people fail to adapt to different controllers, doesn't mean there's been a single bad first party one in decades.
>all of that could be fixed with a Vita 2
So basically what I said earlier; "If only X, Y & X THEN the Vita would have been great!". Sony wouldn't do a magic fix to all the Vita's problems, incompetence was the Vita's failing. It's not like consoles where you can just do an incremental upgrade of existing system and we all know the PSP has it's own hardware failings.
but Vita has Frank Underwood's endorsement
But i did
>exclusives that eventually got ported to PS4
Good luck with that
Not the same user, the joycons are not fine, even the goddamn 3DS was more comfortable, stop lying to yourself, it’s the worst Nintendo control since the N64.
>So if your product is more expensive and most developers that supported your last system jump ship
Fixed. PSP did fine and it was the same concept of gimped console with scaled down console games.
>IZ DAT A PEY ESS VEEDAH
Every time
Different era. People wanted better graphics, and going from GBA to PSP was like going from SNES to PS2. Also back then was peak portable Monster Hunter success. And modular internal memory. And hacking became a major factor late in its life.
>most developers that supported your last system jump ship
I think you just mean Monster Hunter. If anything Vita had more developer support due to the rise of indies.
>has ANYONE here actually played portable mode for more than 10 minutes without getting your hand fucked up?
Don't have a problem with either.
>even the goddamn 3DS was more comfortable
Please show me how you're holding Joycons, I'm baffled here.
>it’s the worst Nintendo control since the N64
N64 ergonomics are really good.
>BUT MUH THREE HANDLES
Yeah, the three handles that allowed the blueprints of 3D games to be written. Yeah, it looks wacky, but you obiviously weren't there for when SEGA and Sony had you navigate 3D games on a D pad.
>by Sony
Sony was retarded but so the developers who thought it was not a good idea to make games on a new and promising platform.
3DS only won because it didnt have MH4U
>I think you just mean Monster Hunter. If anything Vita had more developer support due to the rise of indies.
PSP had new entries for Monster Hunter, Metal Gear, GTA, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Gran Turismo etc.
Vita had indie games and ironic weeb-core.
Please show me how the fuck do you use the right stick in handheld mode without your hand bleeding.
I guess people are only playing 2d platformers and indie sidescrollers on the Switch?
I can't believe there's people out there that don't feel how WRONG the right analog is positioned?
The Joycon is flat and the buttons curve around the side, you can adjust your hands freely.
What are you doing? Putting your fingers over the top and bending your thumb at a 90 degree angle?
>indie library is really good
The Vita has a weak as fuck library if you're not into weeb shit and indies galore. Its multiplat are that much weaker than the Switch which are already substandard to begin with. Also, despite what you fucks keep saying about its memory stick, the damn thing is stupidly designed between the meaningless 3G model, the sticks being too fucking close to the D-Pad/buttons if you don't have baby hands, the utterly retarded rear touch pad, the stupid decision to switch out the OLED screen for a crappy LCD, the absence or lacking internal memory, and being a general step down from the PSP in damn near everything except processing power, using cartridges, and having actual fucking analog sticks.
Not the same user but damn ... can't you see what's wrong with that grip?
>They don't, which is what counts here.
this is just completely delusional. the switch's ergonomics are objectively awful in handheld mode because the back of it is completely flat and there's nothing to grip onto. the wii u gamepad was way more comfortable to hold for any decently-long gaming sessions.
>can't you see what's wrong with that grip?
Apparently nothing if I'm playing games just fine while other people are complaining.
That's all I need to know then, you're clearly ultra casual if you're not feeling the terrible grip on the thing.
VNs and Yoshi come to mind.
All this back and forth means fuck all if you guys aren't telling what games are you guys playing on the switch to have such difference in opinions.
>The Vita has a weak as fuck library if you're not into weeb shit and indies galore
I don't play "weebshit", but the few RPGs I have are solid (P4G, Disgaea 3/4, Ys: Celceta)
>Its multiplat are that much weaker than the Switch which are already substandard to begin with
Why are you comparing 7 year old tech to a brand new handheld/console hybrid? It had a handful of actual multiplats, like Rayman and that's literally it.
>Also, despite what you fucks keep saying about its memory stick, the damn thing is stupidly designed between the meaningless 3G model
3G was canned early on. It was an option that no one used
>the sticks being too fucking close to the D-Pad/buttons if you don't have baby hands
That was more a problem with lack of traction on the analogs
>the utterly retarded rear touch pad, the stupid decision to switch out the OLED screen for a crappy LCD
Touch pad was fine for the few games that used it. They were saving money on a console no one was buying by switching to LCD. And people (especially back then) were hyper paranoid about OLED lifespans.
>a general step down from the PSP in damn near everything except processing power, using cartridges, and having actual fucking analog sticks
So Vita had better controls, game format, processing power, graphics, and features? Vita library is unironically better than PSP too.
Vita was dope.
>implying they're playing games
lmfao
The Vita makes me mad because the hardware is great and Soul Sacrifice is so good, but it'd be better off on the PS4 and will likely never escape the Vita.
too bad your "perfect" handheld fell to gimmicks just like the fucking DS and had "mature console for mature gamer xD" slabbed all over its marketing. At least Nintendo tells you the games is kid shit or not. the PSP was a near-perfect handheld for 2004. The vita was trash when it came out in 2012.
>shitty SoC cpu and gpu
>shit resolution
>no triggers just bumpers
>bad move with the memory cards, which are now irrelevant thanks to adapters
>the vita ended up getting hacked in the end
>the analog sticks aren't buttons too
>the cellular version is 3g only, much fast.
Without a full controller layout the vita was going to fail, and the touch controls AND rear touchpad was just fluff that help make justify the price.
Ew
Played all these games on Joycons, the only trouble is the lack of D-pad for fighting games, everything else is perfectly fine and ergonomical.
This is also my image, for those of you who want to take my advise so you can stop complaining because you're doing it wrong
>the Vita had so much potential
No it didn't. If Sony cared they would have released more games for it but they didn't
I mean the original doom
The Slim should have removed the front and back cameras, as well as the back touchpad and in it's place add in proper L2+R2 buttons.
The problem from day one was always that Sony never cared about the handheld market, its just something they thought they could drop into the market and get money from.
Like comparing the work done on Doom to Borderlands 2 is fucking night and day in terms of effort and support from the console manufacturers.
