WTF!? did they make it unmoddable?

Yes. Also modding the game is now presecuted by the devs according to the new EULA.

Now I can shove this into the face of anyone who tells me I need an occulus or vive just to play what is essentially a wii game with stereoscopic 3d and accelerometer tracking. .

Every update tends to break mods, but the mod makers usually fix it within a few days. Mostly people are pissed that the developers are selling DLC tracks before the game's left Early Access. It does feel jewish, but at the very least they haven't abandoned the project like so many other Early Access titles.

that is a lot of buzzwords to slander a game with sublime gameplay

Vive uses IR tracking, it blows the fuck out anything possible on the Wii.

VR meme

Custom platforms hasn't been available for over a month, same with customsongbrowser.

Doesn't matter. This game literally isn't doing anything new and ironically will be shit to even play now.

Expensive gimmicks that wear off quicker than the wii's did. Keep coping with the lack of content though. Maybe Index will save VR like re7 almost did.

>made an actual killer app VR that caused a huge spike in VR sales
>and became the #1 most played VR game due to modding soundtracks into it
>"hey guys lets get rid of modding and sell it back for DLC! what could go wrong!"
Fucking idiots

Games shouldn't be doing anything new to be good.

I can't hear you over my perfect head and hand tracking
If you play and kind of racing or other simulators VR has so much to offer

>trying to implement EA-tier tactics on a niche platform
Are they serious?

Being good games would be something new

how else do you want them to keep making money if they've already sold it to anyone who owns a headset on PC?

This is probably bait but they didn't get rid of modding. I just played it modded like 5 minutes ago. They just updated the mods about 2 days ago. Hell the devs put out a video explaining the mod situation and how they like mods but can't officially support it pretty recently.
tl;dr: no u

I dunno, but whatever they're doing just lost themselves ton of sales

I can't hear you over all the ports and cashins. Vr lost it's only real parrot game. At least pavlov didn't fuck up yet.

>but can't officially support it
and if you read the TOS they have to get rid of it sooner or later, hence the DLCs

By making another game? That's usually how you make money in the game making business

>Experience vr guiz
>says it's no different than other games
>except this isn't true
nigga at least try to make it sound like you play vr.

DLC packs are fine if the game is actually launched in 1.0 condition. Trying to sell DLC when the game isn't even v0.2 is the epitome of kikery.

BS is still not out of ea though, they still have to finish it.

I don't know, how did gaming survived after 5 years if they sold their games to everyoone who owned a console ?
Really, I can't see, how could video games survive for 40 years huh? I really wonder, really.
How can a game survive without dlcs wtf ?

it's right there in the tags

What is preventing any other company to making their own beat saber?

they didn't license enough japanese music. imagine playing a rhythm game without something like pumpcore.

there already was. One from Rockband devs specifically
store.steampowered.com/app/1020340/Audica/

This one's gaining traction because of the whole Beat Saber controversy since they just added community modding

There are plenty of VR rhythm games on the market. The only difference is that Beat Saber got loads of viral marketing and it's also on PSVR.

Actual question for anyone who would know the legality of such situation.

Why can't something like Beatsaber make a deal with say spotify or some platform to essentially stream the music for use in personal modding and release in the game? Is this considered a different use of the music, and for that reason can't be put in?

Why would it be any different to say, Rifftrax, where you have one product, and then you have another to sync to it. I don't see how the modding community/modded songs can't exist as long as beat saber does not personally distribute the songs, and partnering with spotify or something as an ingame music player would cut the argument of aiding and abetting the modding community, or even just ToSing it (I mean maybe that's what they're doing).

damn and i really like some of the videos for it
youtube.com/watch?v=WtWDqlYE07c

Rifftrax mostly uses either shitty movies that the original rights holders don't care about or old movies that fell into the public domain. The stuff being modded into Beat Saber was pointedly not public domain content and not significantly altered.

And considering the legal issues Spotify has faced in the past, I doubt they're looking for more legally dubious ventures.

I just enjoy watching cute anime girls doing it

This looks retarded. You may as well just play Osu VR
