Can I unironically ask: what the fuck went wrong? It seems like every switch news we get these days is about a downport of a game everyone else already played. Persona 5, Bethesda games, indie games. On the first-party front its the same pokemon, animal crossing, kirby and yoshi shit.
Remember the good old days when the DS and 3DS were home to extensive libraries of exclusive content, particularly JRPGs? Radiant Historia, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, a shitload of Atlus games including the advent of Etrian Odyssey. If anything, now we have jrpgs leaving the system, like Octopath Traveler, and I'll bet my left kidney that SMT 5 doesn't remain lifetime exclusive.
It used to be you buy a Nintendo console for the 1st AND 3rd party exclusives, otherwise you get the WiiU. What happens when the novelty of having a portable HD machine passes next gen, and now everyone gets everyone else's games, except Nintendo has the least of all still, because their consoles are underpowered?
>It used to be you buy a Nintendo console for the 1st AND 3rd party exclusives No it wasn't, you are merely a niche among Nintendo consumers. Check any best selling Nintendo console games and try to prove me wrong. You buy Ninty for Ninty, the end.

>what went wrong >Switch is still doing phenomenal
You okay OP?

What went wrong are your expectations. The switch is a supplemental console. It was never designed to be your only source for games. It was made to appeal to busy 20 somethings who still want to play at home quality games with the very limited free time available. It is supposed to be a portable last gen console.

>console came out 2 years ago gets ports of games for it's library is considered bad >Said first party games have a decent formula though definitely needs more. >A good amount of JRPGs announced, ported(with exclusive content) or in development >still first two years in lifetime with a decent library and what is deemed a good exclusive came out within the first year. comparably to other systems, switch is doing more than okay.

Rise of the indie development scene and Steam. Rise of the game development budget making it exceedingly difficult to justify exclusives. Rise of universal middleware making it easier to develop your game and port it to all platforms.

OP is expressing his personal distaste for the system, not how well it's performing financially
