That's cool if you like it, but I can't stand ultra wide aspect ratios. It lowers my accuracy when aiming because I have to move my eyes a lot more.

But right now you basically have to pick resolution vs refresh rates. Our current GPUs aren't keeping up with display tech advancements. The only thing you're going to be running at 4k 144hz are indie shits, 10 year old games, and Minecraft.

Having more fps than your monitor refresh rate just means the monitor is updating the most recent frame, but it's still limited to 60 updates per second.

The price/performance is at an amazing spot right now for 144hz 1440p screens.

But I have, it's only good with gsync/freesync tho. Since there are a handful of game that can't reach 144 fps at 1440p even with 2080ti. You will always be above 60 and below 144 fps, so it makes a huge difference.

I wish there where flat 32" IPS 144hz monitors.

VA is the best inbetween. You don't get shit tier input lag like IPS and the viewing angles are almost as good. Only the colours suffer, having one beside an IPS right now I can see it's maybe a 5% difference.

Because TN is absolute trash and the only justification for it is for "pro-gamers". IPS panels at 120-144hz are absurdly expensive and considering my PC can't hit over 90 fps at 1080p on modern titles, an upgrade to a 144hz 1440p or even 4k would be worthless right now.

VA panels have horribly slow black - gray pixel transitions which cause the infamous black smearing. That's their limitation and even the best panel suffers from it.

good tn is 1-4ms, ips is 4-8, va is 8-15.

you need under 8ms for 144hz to be worth it because otherwise your pixels aren't even updating as fast as your refresh rate and you get awful smearing, which is a massive problem with VA panels.

it really is this simple too. I had a friend who isn't even into gaming show me something on their PC and I remember the cursor movement alone was enough to get me looking into these screens.

Movies are almost always 24 fps, a few are 48fps. A lot of TVs have a motion smoothing option that tries to fill in the missing frames, making everything sort of look like it's moving at 60fps to match the refresh rate of the TV.

I find it really unsettling. A lot of people call it the "soap opera effect" and usually anyone who actually cares about image quality/accuracy will immediately turn it off.

depends on what games you play. I bought mine when I had a 760GTX but that was because i was only playing SC2. I upgraded the GPU recently and RE2 at that framerate blew my fucking mind
