Aaron isn't responsible for every humor related issue you have with the franchise.

His story was the least important in SA1 overall and it doesn't build upon him in any major way. Even so, he's still a very charming character in my opinion.

Big's Story should have been optional, especially since it's not even important to the overall plot. But this is the start of where Sonic Team needed to force padding into their games.

Plenty of people liked Silver after 06. Not many liked Big after SA1 until he became a meme.

That one was already explained to just be because of the Dreamcast's limitation. Which is why he has scales in Generations years later.

Yes? There are more people who liked Silver from his debut, even though it wasnt good, especially compared to Big's reception after his debut in SA1.

I'm convinced that people who shit on Big's gameplay are just bad at it. Once you get a handle on the controls it's pretty easy, definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. The hardest part is just finding out where Froggy is. My only real complaint for his story is that his fight against Chaos 6 is over in 5 seconds flat. I thought having to fish out Froggy from a boss in the middle of a boss fight was cool as shit and they should've figured out a good way to prolong it a bit.

Big's gameplay was boring shit (I know what they were going for, but it didn't work at all) but as a character I've always thought he was fine. Never been a fan of the memes, I dunno how to describe it but something about them feels like the Sonic Twitter trying to lightning rod an easy target for jokes instead of looking at all the dumb, stupid bullshit from the late 90's/early 00s.

Just because it isn't hard doesn't mean it's good. It's the kinda thing where it sucks if you want to play a Sonic game since you don't want to do any fucking fishing and it sucks if you want to play a fishing game since there's a dozen better alternatives on the system as-is.

Well I can agree that it isn't in-line with the kind of gameplay people usually want out of Sonic games, but the majority of complaints I usually see regarding Big's story go something like "WTF why is this so hard! Stop breaking the line! LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE!!!" Instead of "I don't play Sonic games to fish"

I don't care for it much but you can plow through it fast at least.

My problem with it isn't that its fishing, but it's terrible fishing. The camera for the fishing minigames is honestly one of the worst I have ever experienced. The story is easy enough to not get tedious, but getting the A missions done (especially in Icecap) is nothing short of infuriating.
