I'm glad I just chose a good one I'm happy with from the start.

A tech guy I know though had a really good reason for name changing: due to Sony's garbage system somebody had literally already registered an ID with his own email. Like me he's one of the people who got on Gmail super early and thus got a really short good name (the kind that were all gone in like a year or two) but that also means people constantly mistype and use his email (same thing I guess that caused me to get hundreds of Indian passports and drivers licenses and job applications and shit for years and years). Since at one point Sony allowed PSN registration with an email but with no verification required, when he used his email he was stuck with someone else's shitty ID. Now he will not need to be XxXKefka420epic any longer.

If he REALLY wanted it to be link to his name, all he would've had to do was contact SONY support. I used to have an old PSN and I wanted that old email on the new PSN I made. I just gave them some bullshit about how someone used my email and they let me switch it.

I think now you can just log in on the browser and change your email and password without dealing with support now.
