I'm liking Iron Rain so far, up to mission 10. I wouldn't mind Sandlot copying a few things for EDF 6 like the firing range and extra time to grab loot when missions end.

PCs aren't really part of their gaming culture anymore, although they used to be big on old PC dungeon crawlers like Wizardry. There's a lot of barriers of entry to gaming on PC in Japan, like how their payments work (If I remember right, it used to be along the lines of having to print out a receipt if you bought a game online, and then having to pay that in a brick and mortar store), PC versions of games just not being available in Japan despite being available elsewhere, not having a Japanese translation or one that you have to pay extra for, stuff like that.

Pretty much. Probably not going to change any time soon with mobile having such a grip on Japan

5 is a straight up improvement on everything in 4.1. tons of quality of life changes, as well as changes that shift the gameplay a bit away from grinding armour to win to using player skills to win.

the most impressive edf video ive ever seen. honeslty blows my mind that somone was able to figure this mission out.

5 is a great improvement overall, except for the aesthetic in my opinion (see Fencer armor and Balaam/Barga)
Also, it appears that in EDF 5 the player is a tad bit too overpowered, i mean, a Air Raider can clean up a map even more easily than in 4 to the point where if you are in multiplayer he'd have the field clean before you even started to kill stuff, also the fencer can zip across the map at sanic speed and be untouchable, arm hound + high altitude missile + dash/hop items mean that only red wasps are a legitimate threat

I don't want to pretend I could make a perfect game, but there still felt like there were wasted oppurtunities in 5. Whole classes of weapons are basically useless. Mortars for AR's are trash again because they use the grenade mechanic and take forever to come in for mediocre damage. WD's kinetic weapons are just awful. They did nail some of the other weapon changes though and far more stuff is viable as compared to 4.1 where you had a handful of clearly meta weapons and then a bunch of meme shit.
