It was hard to do for years so now they its easy they're overusing it
the same thing happened with phong and bloom on the ps3 and 360
What is it with that gross mist lighting effect in video games?
same studio that did odyssey
ubisoft should get rid of everyone in it, they're no good
It's good if you don't mind typical repetitive AC gameplay.
Realism komrade.
But not really since that kind of weather effect would happen after rain.
Odyssey's combat is pretty nice though.
Probably a way to hide texture LOD.
Meh combat, ok stealth (compared to other AAA games), fun repetitive open world busywork, shit ending, amazing traversal, great protagonists, among the best pre-Origins map, 10/10 OST.
Expansion story is great, if short.
Reminder that AC3 remaster is trash and UBI soft are faggots.

I don't know but I fucking hate it. The world doesn't look like that unless you're in fucking Shanghai. Maybe if it was actual foggy weather once in a while and not ALWAYS like that, or if its just plumes of smoke / mist actually coming from something, but for some reason developers think this boring ass """realistic""" shit is fun or immersive
pretty much.
It's part of a replacement for the old linear fog. Now there's exponential fog, including blurred (mipped) skybox blending so the fog actually changes colour based on the direction it's in. You have no idea how many games used 1 colour of fog for all directions, and it looked like ass.
Volumetrics are still seen as a high quality, fancy special effect, so it does have some affect on the percieved quality/value of the game.
