so I'm thinking about picking one of these up and I have a few question.

your reasons to want one seem real lame. i use it for the ps1 classics and jrpgs for the vita. like sword art online and digimon hackers dream.
also i forgot to mention I basically have a family plan with cricket and I get 1 extra line for free which comes with unlimited data, I heard cricket sim cards can work on the vita since cricket is under att.
Its not worth it. I hacked mine and still never use it. All the games are just old and can be played elsewhere. I think I have maybe 20 hours total playing it.
i want to use for jrpgs and to remote play games like persona when im traveling. Maybe for a couple classics but Idk
you cant remote play out of your home
There was never a Vita 2000 produced with 3G capability, only a specific SKU of the 1000.
As for if it's worth it? I got one in the launch year and I loved it for years. Just picked up a 2000 that I'm in the middle of CFW'ing as I type this. So I'm a big fan of the system myself. But make sure you look into the library yourself, since a lot of the 'nogames' comes from people mad that they had a specific franchise or genre in mind that's not represented on the system.
get it if you are an emulatorfag and enjoy old games otherwise no why would you
>is it worth getting one in 2019?
No. Not unless you want to hack it and turn it into an emulation machine.
>>how far away can I use remote play?
Not very I can barely go to the other side of my room and maintain a connection
>>is lag noticeable for remote play?
Depends on the game you're playing.
the only actual game for the vita is P4G and that's not worth buying a console
>actually using the fucking remote play
dude you don't need to play your games while taking a shit
It's good as an emulation machine and nothing else
>is it worth getting one in 2019?
If you want one, yes. Otherwise, no.
Its fucking badass. Its only going to get more expensive from here on out. You can get one for $100 if you just go to your pawn shops and get one in good condition. Remote play lags. When it works it feels like I have a Switch, but it usually never works correctly, even if im in the next room. I got a vita + pstv on a usa PSN account and another seperate set on japanese PSN. I bought it to buy physical games and dont really care for the emulation as I probably own those games already anyway. It was still worth it.
I agree with others, PSVita is still good a great console, but people generally buy it for its emulation capability and some of its exclusives (most of them are weeb shit tho).
If you are only interested in the remote play, maybe you can just stream the screen to another device
>he actually BOUGHT muvluv
>ON CONSOLE
Where the fuck is the 3.69/70 hack holy shit that gookfuck said March.
Speak of the devil

BASED
>>is it worth getting one in 2019?
only if you hack it
>>can the slim model use a sim?
no but mobile internet is useless
>>how far away can I use remote play?
anywhere but latency is way worse that way
>>is lag noticeable for remote play?
It's noticeable but acceptable for in-house streaming. it won't bother you if you play persona or some shit
Protip if you are using remote play locally turn off "connect to the Vita directly", it's actually worse than wifi.
>is it worth getting one in 2019?
if you know several games you want to play on it, or a couple really long ones
>can the slim model use a sim?
no, but you're not missing much because the 3G functionality on supported models was limited, you couldn't use it for everything you could use wi-fi for, you would get more use wi-fi tethering between your vita and smartphone
>how far away can i use remote play?
you won't have a good time with it outside your house. i once got it to work barely playably at a school a couple miles from my house, but couldn't connect at all from a friend's house a similar distance away.
>is lag noticeable for remote play?
yes. it's not insufferable in most games, but it's absolutely always noticeable.
protip: never use the option to directly connect the vita to the PS4, the PS4's wi-fi is garbage for remote play even if your vita is right on top of it, connect to a router on the same LAN instead
There is no point in buying a Vita unless there are games you want to play. Any phone can remote play or run emulators just as fine if not better. I say this as someone who loves playing my vita, if you're only getting it for those reasons, you're going to feel like you wasted your money.
I remote play all the time outside my home.
Does anyone have a brainlet guide for updating Vita's CFW? I dropped off using it because reasons so mine is still on 3.60 non-Enso Henkaku. There are a ton of articles describing what to do if your handheld isn't on CFW at all but I've found none on what to do if you're running the old stuff.
