How easy is it to get into this if I never played a Monster Hunter game?

Wouldn't recommend

I wouldn't know, because I've been a fan of the series for a long time already. But probably considerably easier than it was before, thanks to all the QoL changes.
But it really depends on if it's your kind of game or not.

get monster hunter 4 ultimate instead

Combat isn't too difficult to get used to, you're only going to use a couple of moves most of the time. But optimizing and getting a grip on all the items, status effects, strategy, equipment and menus is the hard part. I recommend just looking a lot of that up

If you had to start with ANY Monster Hunter, World is literally the ideal starting point.

Not if you intend on going back and playing previous games in the series afterwards. World instils bad habits in you.

A new player probably wouldn't go backwards though.

I started with MHW, it's pretty easy to pick up if you are not a complete mongoloid at videogames. But at some point (Rathalos, maybe even Anjanath) you HAVE to watch guides online to understand what the fuck you are supposed to do.

How your weapon moveset works, how items work, what the fuck stats and equipment skills do... the game doesn't tell you anything about this stuff.

Once you are over this entry barrier, the game is fucking fantastic.

it was made for literally the demographic that is u

>you HAVE to watch guides online to understand what the fuck you are supposed to do.
This is a joke right?

Easy, i played Tri Ultimate for a day but other than that MHW was my first one. Platinumed the game without any trouble. Only hard fight is Extreme Behemoth, we cheesed it with 3 Heavy Bow Guns but it's a cross over extra fight. The weapons may seem complex at first but all the movesets are easy to get used to with time, watch Weapon guides on YouTube though! Items and Materials may seem overwhelming at first but just take it slow, learn a few new items each day. It's a franchise with LOTS to learn but that doesn't make it hard to get into or to play through. Enjoy

easy

A lot of people who started with World jumped backwards to GU.

Pretty fucking easy. It was my first Monster Hunter game, but after playing it for some odd 200 hours, I went and tried out the older titles. Underwater combat is something I'd like to see in a future MonHun title on PC, but with the kinks worked out. Wish Generations Ultimate was on PC, but Nintendo's never letting go of that, so I just emulate it.

Pretty easy, it was designed to be friendly to newcomers
The problem is that it also leaves you completely unprepared for all the normal monster hunter games, so if you plan on getting into the rest of the series I would suggest you start with 4U

Do people still play that? I want to get it again but I have a feeling the halls are a ghost town now?
t.silver crown

Some people still play it because it's the most recent MH game on consoles that runs at an acceptable framerate

It's not.

The game doesn't tell you how important items like traps or flashpods are, how crafting works or what affinity is.

I made it to Nergigante (who kicked my ass repeatedly) without guides, and monsters before him took 30/40 minutes to kill. I enjoyed it because I'm autistic, but that's fucking stupid and not the norm at all.

You have numbers on that? I'd call that a small minority of World starters.

this, it's a braindead game about hitting mentally handicapped dinosaurs

>4u

Runs at full 60fps on my PC

Easy as fuck. It's just grind and kill monsters. You won't miss anything if you haven't played the past installments. You can just plug-and-play it and get to killing monsters. Who gives a shit about this prehistoric dinosaur killer simulation game's story anyway?

Very. MHW is the scrub neonu MH for newcomer western dudebros for a reason.

Now if you wanted to become a REAL hunter and not just a toddlerino, then you'd have to go and play good ones like 3U or 4U for example.

World is by far the easiest MH to get started with but for better or worse has quality of life changes that will make playing the previous games incredibly tedious. This thread will be rife with misinformation but MHW is great, you should play it and the quality of life improvements were much needed for the series to garner a Western fanbase.

>tfw best village didn't make it into generations.

this user is retarded
i started playing a month ago and the only thing i needed to look up a guide for was the moveset for bow
using a bow in monsterhunter is actually more complicated than any other game i have every used a bow in

Then who made guide?

The fanbase has been pretty big for some time now though. I'd say it gained its western fanbase from Freedom Unite.

Play MHFU on psp, everything else is baby easy made for nintenbois

So you DID look up for guides...
I'm not saying the game is impossible, killing monsters is actually very easy. But the point is not to just kill them, but to kill them fast. And the game doesn't explain how to do that.

Chasing a Rathalos up and down for 50 minutes is not a very enjoyable experience for most people.

But maybe you are right, I suck. Real gamers like yourself immediately understood that item shortcuts are linked to presets, that buffs like demon drug and might seed stack, that blinding flying monsters stuns them for 20 seconds and obscure stuff like that.
People who played the game on PSP and 3DS for years? Don't be retarded.

>And the game doesn't explain how to do that.
yeah i figured that buffs stack and other stuff, with melee all weapons are figured out with on the spot experimentation
>blinding flying monsters stuns them for 20 seconds
i always knew that it was an option and i just decide not to carry flashbombs with me because im lazy and so i can loot more
most of the things are pretty straight forward, how can you not understand what a flashbang does from its name alone cmon son

the only thing i have found so far that cant be figured out early on is the bows effective distance and three charge combo mechanics through dodging and effective status application

People seem to have gotten it into their heads that World saved the franchise from obscurity for whatever reason, when in actuality it's been growing more and more popular with consistency since the beginning. World is no exception to that rule.

>most recent MH game on consoles that runs at an acceptable framerate

>using bow
Ranged weapons are easy mode in world

Attached: 1513221733951.png (1638x1912, 264K)

MHW was designed for casual westerners. You'll do just fine.

Everything is easy mode in world so far, got to hr anjanath so far and the game is laughably easy I've not once had to pay attention or memorize a monster's move set, I was at least paying attention to monsters in 4u

Freedom unite for psp

Bowguns have been easy mode in almost every MH.

The game was pretty much made for that.
Just be careful when you get to the DLCs and event stuff, because at that point the difficulty goes up to pretty much old High Rank.

I'm curious to see if Master Rank will bring World's difficulty up to the same level as other games or if it will be even easier due to power creep.

AT are already more difficult than your regular G-rank. Rivaled only by lvl 140 GQs and maybe EX deviants, which can outright oneshot you even through the endgame armor.

It is pretty weird that they picked Yukumo as the third generation town. Not what I would've expected.
