hollow knight was made in unity using Playmaker but then they started learning how to code, it was also a far simpler game in terms of scope. One guy could draw and one could make music and both had game dev backgrounds.

But mostly make a proper prototype, if you are just and "ideas guys", then you have no clue how to make a game to begin with.
But if you know unity or unreal or some other decent sdk you can make a prototype with developer art no problem, and just hire a single decent artist to make some models for you.

Also the story and trying to connect everything yourself by cross examining evidence was fun. It wasn't necessary as the game would've fed you all the truths anyway, but I did it anyway.
