He's wrong. None of the champions are outright hard, but Cynthia is slightly more difficult than the standard.

Lance, Steven, Wallace and to a lesser degree, Iris are all slightly easier due to having a specific type that makes just steamrolling them easy enough.

Blue, Cynthia, Alder, Diantha and Trace all have actually varied teams, and out of those I'd say Cynthia is the hardest purely because she has the most shit that can hit like a trick or tank well in a neutral environment.

All of them are easy enough you shouldn't really have much issue unless it's your first Pokemon game though.

Hard mode Iris doesn't really give a fuck about steam rolling.

If we include hard mode Iris both first fight and postgame she is by far the hardest champion.

There is an honorable mention to Ghetsis as a "champion" because he is the last fight before the credits roll, his hydreigon had to be nerfed in B2W2 just because of how much pain it brought on the casuals.

I didn't give berries much thought so they were left in my bag if I didn't sell them, was pretty bad at building up my team, had no idea that moves were split into physical and specials or the difference between things like attack and special attack.

I beat all the league with like 20 levels lower than everyone just using Gyarados with Dragon Dance and a Roserade with a bunch of Poison related moves.

Normal Water is what most people end up using on their Gyarados.

Aqua tail, Return/trash and eq/ice fang/bite can break the game.

Normal water has almost perfect neutral coverage only stopped by Empoleon and then a gen later by grass/ghost and water/ghost.
