If a tank wants to pull at range, they use the fucking range taunt, or a chain since now even non-DKs can just use silver leash. A healer heavy attacking with a frost staff taunts, because frost staves have a passive that turns them into tanking weapons. Also if a healer taunts an enemy this way, the tank can't re-taunt because overriding taunts give an enemy taunt-immunity.

Why would you want to waste your back-bar on a bow when it has literally nothing for tanks? Especially now that back-bar frost staves have become popular and effective with the enchant change to two-handed weapons. All you'll end up with is you eating shit because you were blocking with your bow out when you thought you were on your 1h&shield bar, or dropping block because you were switching.
There's more than enough ranged ground aoes, including caltrops if you absolutely have to be like that. Personally I liked to throw shards and use a gap closer, time stop, and ritual of retribution for a big aoe damage over time + movement speed reduction and soft aggro from the healing. But I'm sure you feel special and useful with your bow wasting an entire weapon slot while doing literally nothing you couldn't do with another 1h&shield or staff other than wasting everyone's time by dying.

Your average Lalafell is actually much weaker than the other races. It's a plot point in an ALC quest. It's just that proper training and use of magic can make them just as insanely powerful as any other race, so adventurer and soldier Lalafells are going to be way beyond the average.

Aetherial manipulation matters a bunch too, which is why fancy swords are better than shitty swords- they can channel aether through them more readily

In HW MCH RNG actually counted for some shit as it felt nice when the cards lined up and you did a big mildfire. In SB you'll bulldoze over your procs and ignore them when it's time to set up your WF and the removal of some of the significance of a proc (that being the ability to use it to shoot while moving) as well as the increased speed of reloading in general really sucks a lot of flavor out of it.

It's better, but the fending and maiming helmets look so much better than the striking.

Still, beggars can't be choosers and it's a good set I suppose. But it felt like wasted potential particularly when it was the solitary samurai-y set from the entire expac for Sam. Dai-Ryumayku was best on fending where it looked like Guan Yu's armor but Striking works if you are going for the hot-blooded young fantasy samurai/chinese warrior, I guess.

As a wow refuge I was shocked how easy ultimates are in FF14. Barely 1% of players even complete mythic raiding in wow. It's a little pathetic they consider ultimates to be the high peak. I really recommend ultimate players to play wow if they are looking for a challenge. Wow is shit and I never had the time to do mythic raiding but doing ultimates in FF14 gave me a little ego boost thinking i am good.

Wow is very cpu heavy. If you have a shit cpu you get shit fps. They recently updated the game 2 months ago to use more cores. Thr game runs much better now if you have more cores.

I have played on both Moogle and Omega, I would honestly argue they are the same, Omega is basically Moogle but with slightly less french, slightly more dutch, so it evens out

Looking through XIVstyle and it was hard for me to quantify whether I liked HW or SB's gear more. In the past I said I liked HW more than SB because of some amazing DRG gear I had, but now I can see a lot of SB stuff that competes with it and a lot of bad HW stuff I forgot about. My RDM and SAM complicate matters more. I didn't play XI but I would agree with you from the armor I have seen of XI. A lot of the armor looks much more tame and streamlined, not so much of the jutting spikes/asymmetrical bulges/general 'noisiness' going on. It's not nomura bad (and I died when I saw that Nomura hammer girl and she looks so out of place it's like a KH or FF15 character). Rather, I feel like XIV is very eclectic and it will go from fantastic armor to horrible armor within a single gear set. It might also be they try to have such a huge variety of styles. Royal Volunteer looks like straight up dieselpunk, like what resistance fighters against the Garleans after being ruled by Garlemald for 100 years would look. Prior to that is bonewicca and it looks like fantasy baroque europeans at a venetian mask festival. Prior to that is farlander and it looks like sensible Ivalician gear. Then it's Skalic and I don't know what the fuck that is. It's like that faggot with the two hot sword-chicks in xenoblades.

The sheer variety of gear styles is both a boon (everyone gets what they want) and a bane (sometimes you're a beggar for the aesthetic you want). Million times better than modern wow armor, that's for sure.

I am not. I would concede Elezen are lanky everywhere, not just the neck. I find it rather attractive but I am a giraffe IRL so it's to be expected.

That feels correct but you still triggered my autism because Terra, Cloud, Zidane, and that arguably Squall, Lightning, and Noctis have special styles based on a specialist type of sword or multiple weapons.

I went LNC (planned to be DRG, but got tired of staring at enemies asses while the tank fought like the main character), swapped to GLD/PLD as soon as I hit Ul'dah, and then to DRK as soon as I arrived in Ishgard. I was planning to swap to GUN in Shadowbringers but I might wait until the end of the MSQ to do so since I'm sure there will be some story-point that makes a good step-off point from the class. Given the art, theme, and trailer, it looks like the start and even middle of the storyline probably won't fit.

DRK fits so wonderfully it's not even funny and I am not a DRK shrill as I am DRG/SAM/RDM. But it fits it as good as DRG fit HW. Punished WoL, needing to bring Darkness to the world, becoming the Warrior of Darkness. Honestly it'd have been more poetic if we'd gotten gunblade in HW (MCH be rifle or something) and DRK came out with this expac. When you die your aether goes back into the lifestream. If they died on the source they would forever eternally be separate from their friends, family and world. I can see the reason to want to return to your own world if only to die there. They would likely die before they arrive to their world so no goodbyes, but that wouldn't be necessary. It's the same rationale that someone, say, on Guadacanal in WW2 wouldn't want their corpse buried in the middle of some shitty nameless island nobody gives a fuck about. They'd want their body brought back home. The more prosaic might not care, but they would be a minority.

You won't be able to do the proper rotation in potd but it works kind of like arcane mage
You expend MP on Fire phase then restore them in ice phase. You use Blizzard III and Fire III to switch, Fire IV is the big nuke that you want to cast as many of as possible, Fire 1 is used to maintain the fire timer since F4 doesn't, and Thunder is your dot. Look up guides on youtube for more details or something I don't give a fuck

Blizz only to recover mana. Throw fire and keep thunder up. Use the instant spells whenever they proc. Use flare along with quick cast only when you're low on mp and quickly switch to Blizz to get the mp back. Enochian when full mp and fire iv, change to frost and blizzard to keep enochian up and recover mp and switch back to fire and fire iv

That's because the developers intend on between 0 and 1 of those boss models appearing on screen at a given time. And the attention of 8 players will be focused solely on that model when it does; they need to make sure it's as shiny as possible.
Meanwhile there could be hundreds of player character models onscreen at a given time, if not for client-side limits; the only person paying attention to your character is you- and normally you'll only be looking at the back of your character's head.

There are very strict limits placed on player-character polygon count and texture resolution to get them to all display at once on your average toaster (without going into meltdown).
Of fucking course they're going to be worse than NPC models.

It's not just the models, though that is some of it. I know what you mean with LODs and such, but I see total war face textures with more detail to them. A number of ff14 faces seem to have no normalmap and are just a slippery low as hell resolution texture. Which is the other thing, the textures seem absurdly low resolution for the faces. I've seen total war textures I'd wager are higher resolution for the face and hair - and that is depicting hundreds of such faces simultaneously. It may also just be that something feels off with the faces. Like somehow the PC/NPC faces are much more animey feeling while paradoxically Shiva or Lakshmi or Sophia or siren look more human and less anime. May just be design choices as Suzaku does look anime-y.

That or I am just seeing things or the mature look of those characters are what contrast them to the teenage fresh-face of PCs.

Enochian isn't a timed buff, it just stays on permanently as long as you maintain AF/UI. Maintaining Enochian for 30 seconds gives you a buff that lets you cast Foul.

There's no way every job will get through unscathed. They are going to fuck up at least a couple, it's just a question of which ones.

Personally I think the ones most at risk are jobs with already smooth rotations and complete toolkits such as RDM SAM and WAR, because they'll end up being tinkered with just for the sake of getting new actions, disrupting what already feels like a solid design. The new jobs and jobs that are already in a bad place will probably get lots of attention so there's less chance of a screwup.
